The festive special!

As always, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides. No resilience wankery. This is the safe place to let out anything that’s doing your head in.

I am not isolating from my teen..he's had a lot if grief and trauma to deal with over the years ..no way I could shut him in his room ..and leave his meals outside..

He's just appeared and said..this is shit ..can I have a hug...what was I going to say..no!

ssd · 29/12/2021 13:22

I agree. Ds was waiting over 2 days for a pcr to come back last week. He sat in his room the whole time. He was supposed to be working xmas eve with a group of young people he loves and they'd arranged a takeaway the company was providing for them. It was going to be a fun shift. But instead he sat alone on his bed waiting for results of a virus that wouldn't have hardly bothered him, he's triple vaccinated. And he was negative anyway. He was just doing what he's told is the right thing, as he had symptoms, which turned out to be a headcold.
He's 20. We dont have a big family, just the 4 of us for xmas, so that shift was a bit of fun for him, as well as nearly £100.

I dont think he's going to do a pcr again. Bugger that.

I feel very sorry for all the people who kept away from their elderly parents last Christmas after the rules changed at the last minute, only for it to turn out to be their last Christmas.
They will always look back on that with regret

ssd · 29/12/2021 13:28

Yep. I work beside a lovely lady who lost her husband to covid, married over 50 years. She wasn't allowed to visit him and he died alone. She cant get over it or forgive herself.
Its beyond cruel.

Haudyourwheesht · 29/12/2021 13:30
@elephantofrisk put it in the sink or a large container where it can be covered with luke warm water (not hot!) it should defrost it quicker. Change the water every hour or so. Should defrost much quicker and is safe.
Reminds me of this. Grin

Yep, in total agreement, people will not believe the inhumanity of this time

Grin @Haudyourwheesht.

Well it worked and it's in the oven along with its non frozen buddy for around 5 and a half hours. Thanks for your help railers.

OldaRailer · 29/12/2021 13:36

Haudyerwheest happy memories.
" It's not for kids really Christmas, is it?"

No change to isolation rules

MarshmallowFondant · 29/12/2021 14:16

Nothing new. Another week of dithering over whether to shorten the isolation period, all to show she is so different from Boris.

What a pile of absolute bollocks. She does love the sound of her own voice. I have never heard one person speak for almost 20 minutes and say precisely nothing.

WouldBeGood · 29/12/2021 14:22

So absolutely no point to it?

Totally agree!

Don't know why I watch. It just raises my blood pressure

runningpink · 29/12/2021 14:23

Quicker we are boosted the sooner we get back to normal…
Is that actually normal or Nicolas version of normal! 🙄

WouldBeGood · 29/12/2021 14:23

And if no change to isolation rules I think schools going back will be problematic

OP posts:
mibbelucieachwell · 29/12/2021 14:28

Making the point accidentally that investing in the nhs benefits businesses (who have to close purely to protect the NHS)

No decision on length of self isolation until next week but then in force from 5th January

mibbelucieachwell · 29/12/2021 14:30

Now she's fear mongering again - avoid getting covid cos it might be really baaaad

derxa · 29/12/2021 14:32

Nicola has cancelled our Bonfire in Biggar yet again. I can't stand her

frasersmummy · 29/12/2021 14:33

Get your booster ..as soon as 80% have it we can return to normal ..didn't I hear that last year ? About original jab??!

People who don't get it are irresponsible..???..talk about stirring up division and hatred.

She really made my blood boil today

I am triple vaxxed and negative and locked in the house..why?? .arrggh

Mistressiggi · 29/12/2021 14:35

Mibbe so isolation shortens from the 5th - is that definite? Is that is you have Covid or just household contacts (or both?)

Mistressiggi · 29/12/2021 14:38

Have just googled, sorry was being lazy!

WouldBeGood · 29/12/2021 14:39

People aren’t getting boosted because of her restrictions!!

Does she not read Scotsnet?!

OP posts:
mibbelucieachwell · 29/12/2021 14:43

@frasersmummy I feel for you so much. What's the point in testing if you still have to stay at home and not see anyone?

dementedma · 29/12/2021 14:44

So Mammy Scotland has spoken. All restrictions remain because there are 36 THIRTY SIX! people in ICUs in Scotland with Covid!

Jesus wept.

tigger1001 · 29/12/2021 14:44

That and if you live anywhere even slightly rural it's harder to get to. No walk in centres close to me so oh is struggling to get his booster. Public transport not exactly great where we are so even a short journey miles wise takes forever.

Plus walk ins are not so great when it's pouring with rain. Who wants to wait in a long queue in the rain?

But might increase....

I've sort of lost track. Is that not lower than before Christmas
