The festive special!

As always, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides. No resilience wankery. This is the safe place to let out anything that’s doing your head in.

@Lidlfix Your DD might not be infectious by 25th? Maybe worth her doing a LF on Christmas morning?

Justmuddlingalong · 23/12/2021 14:17

nightclubs link

Lockdownbear · 23/12/2021 14:24

Just rotten no justification for it. I hope young people remember how much they've been controlled by SNP when it comes to the next elections.

Lidlfix · 23/12/2021 14:31

We will Mibbe, and if she's negative she can come out - even if it's for the time DH is at work . His workplace is very high risk and he's already doing the isolation exemption . So would want to adhere to whatever conditions it sets. Even if we had fizz and sat at opposite corners of the hot tub (2m Wink) .

Yes. I'm WELL past the clubbing generation but it's really poor. Many of the clubbers will also be young people "at uni" bit sitting in their bedrooms watching Zoom lectures, or who have missed out on so much over the last 2 years.

So what they're really saying is their vaccine passports are a waste of time then?

WouldBeGood · 23/12/2021 14:47

That appears to be exactly the message they’re getting @MarshmallowFondant

I’m feeling much the same. Dutifully triple jagged, as is DD, DS13 jagged and for what? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone know how long a positive person is likely infectious for? My dd is isolating in her room (not entirely and it's by choice) but can't have that at Christmas obviously, we are on day 7 today. She has no symptoms now. Sorry to hear about other folks scuppered plans too...

Mine is the same, @duvetdrama. I am following the English recommendation of a LFT on day 6 and day 7 - if both negative, they can stop isolating.

DD is on Day 7 as her symptoms started last Thursday, but her LFT this morning was a (very faint) positive. We're not being quite as careful as we were at the weekend.

mibbelucieachwell · 23/12/2021 15:21

Thanks @Justmuddlingalong

I'd be hopeful of a young person no longer being infectious by day 7. A lateral flow test should be a good indicator of infectious news Smile

duvetdrama · 23/12/2021 15:29

@MarshmallowFondant same here, she did show up positive this morning but more faint but I seem to remember reading that it can show up on a test for quite a while after so I'm not sure. Will be day 9 by Christmas so should be able to relax by then I hope...

OnceUponAWhine · 23/12/2021 16:51

Footage from the footy terraces last night-“get tae fuck Sturgeon”
in a chorus, sung so well by fans who’ve been screwed over. They need to be told about this thread so they can rail…Grin

WouldBeGood · 23/12/2021 16:56

I saw that @OnceUponAWhine!

They were also railing against boosters! This is not going well.

Totally get where they’re coming from. People have worked hard in a tough year, festive football is a tradition and really important to lots of people.

The vaccine passport is a waste of time. I've just tested positive after waiting 3 days for a PCR result. I could have been at an event at the weekend, shown a vaccine passport while being infectious.

So, I've had 3 jabs, worn a mask, socially distanced and I've still caught it - what's the bloody point? Just give us back our lives. I just feel like I've got a not very bad dose of the cold Hmm

mapleleavesreturn · 23/12/2021 18:17

That sucks rara, what a pita WineThanks.

I had my booster but a lot of us would think hard about any more - I don't have a flu jab every year.

ecceromani · 23/12/2021 18:41

Aw no @RaraRachael Thanks
So sorry you've been hit like this at Christmas.
I think you're a teacher?
You guys have been shafted and you really needed your holiday.
You so don't deserve this

Lockdownbear · 23/12/2021 19:15

Other bonkers I've read half of all colds are probably covid. If that's all it's doing to people then who cares.

My other rant, BBC News reporting on number of electric scooters destroyed by West Midlands police, over 100 in the last year.
Why on earth wait until 2 days before Christmas to highlight the fact they are illegal and dangerous. Why not do it at the beginning on November when people are starting to think about Christmas presents?

WouldBeGood · 23/12/2021 19:35

Oh, @RaraRachael 🥲💐

I've seen loads of stuff for weeks about it must have been FV police I think. I think most folk know, they just don't care and think they'll get away with it anyway.

I always looked at it that DSs had a scooter to get exercise so I didn't see the point of electric ones.

Sorry to hear about more positives and more isolations.

Lockdownbear · 23/12/2021 21:04

Maybe just haven't noticed the comments about electric scooters. I just think they are so dangerous.
We came very close to hitting a kid on one many years ago when they had just came on the market. She shot across the road in front of us, DHs fast reactions and sheer luck are what saved her.

ElephantOfRisk · 23/12/2021 21:14

Maybe not lockdown. I've certainly seen a good few but they probably don't get to the people who need to see them. I appreciate that kids might find them fun but it's not safe for them to ride them on the road and it's not safe for pedestrians for them to be on the pavement either. They also need exercise at least until they are old enough to get a driving licence! Grin

Haudyourwheesht · 23/12/2021 22:23

There's a wee fecker nips around us on one on his paper round when I'm pushing the buggy to nursery. They're frighteningly quiet, very nippy and I feel that a random misstep would lead to a nasty accident.
I'm very supportive of kids having paper rounds but it doesn't seem safe.

WouldBeGood · 23/12/2021 22:53

Given the data coming out, I’ll be very interested to see whether Johnson or sturgeon has called this right.

Anyone welcoming our extra restrictions?

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 23/12/2021 23:35

It's looking more and more like BJ has it right again.
The NS over cautious approach is just destroying the economy and really wearing people down.

WouldBeGood · 23/12/2021 23:38

I’m genuinely intrigued to see what pans out.

shouldistop · 24/12/2021 06:23

There's a couple of teenagers round here on electric scooters, I'm always worried they're going to get knocked down. Especially as they're in dark clothing and it feels like it barely gets light at the moment.
