The railing never ends.

No resilience wankery, all railing welcome, along with good things or humorous asides.

the swinneybot is hinting at more restrictions control today

frasersmummy · 11/12/2021 15:47

How can they implement more restrictions when hospital numbers are falling..

There are 33 people in icu across the whole if Scotland..how can that be overwhelming the NHS

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 15:50

At my local hospital they’re saying it’s because if staff absence cos of the isolating @frasersmummy

ScotRail services also under pressure because of isolations

Scottishskifun · 11/12/2021 15:54

Just goes to show that actually regular testing although not ideal is a far better solution to keeping things going instead of auto 10 days!

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 15:55

I’d scrap the lot if I were in charge.

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 11/12/2021 16:00

I will take the happy medium of testing versus isolation but yes I don't know what it is they are now magically waiting for!

It's never going anywhere and it's unrealistic to get people to live like this forever (despite what some may say about it not being hard.....🙄)

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 16:04

Quite @Scottishskifun

They should let Scotsnet women sort this out 😃

To be fair @shouldistop my DH also called our youngest (who's 18 first year at uni) an omicron 🦠 vector this week, because, well he is probably our riskiest member of the family. But said in a humorous, affectionate way.

Lockdownbear · 11/12/2021 16:13

You 18 yo Uni first year if anything like the other 1st years I know have barely been in Uni.
The others I know are only 17 so between lack of ID for the pubs and covid restrictions have hardly seen pals either. Really Really shite for the poor sods.

ResilienceWanker · 11/12/2021 16:14

So it sounds as if it's the restrictions causing the problems, and not covid itself!

So if that's the case, and assuming we're just being a bit cautious as we can't yet be sure that omicron isn't as dangerous as other variants (given where we are with vaccines and boosters) I can't understand why the default "protection" isn't daily testing for any contacts?! So everyone can carry on with their daily lives being pretty sure they (and the people they are mixing with) don't have asymptomatic covid. Whereas we have the anxiety of potentially being shut up for 10 days whether or not we have covid, just because we were in the same room/ house as someone who did, and our trains go undriven, shops unmanned, schools untaught and so on. Just as a precaution... not because we are ill, or anyone we come into contact with will get ill. How is that the better option?!

ResilienceWanker · 11/12/2021 16:17

And Flowers shouldistop. That sounds really difficult. What a horrible way to talk/ think about your grandchildren Xmas Sad.

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 16:19

So, if ds has to isolate, as seems likely given the school situation, would he be able to go to his dad after Christmas as planned?

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 11/12/2021 16:29

Yes they have never stopped kids who live between parents from going.
Logically if they are actually ill it makes sense not to contaminate the other house too but just isolating because of a contact they can still move.

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 16:33

Thanks @Lockdownbear

I wouldn’t move him if he was unwell, need to look after my boy! But wouldn’t want it to disrupt plans with his dad if he’s not Iill, even if I’d rather have him at home anyway

frasersmummy · 11/12/2021 18:49

@shouldistop your house your rules. This is another side effect of covid..families are being torn apart by opinions based on whatever piece of information they hear or read or even their interpretation of it.

And if they introduce new restrictions that divide is going to become more acute , in my own paranoid world I wonder if there isn't a sense of divide and conquer from the scottish government

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 18:54

I do think they are quite strange individuals who struggle to understand normal, sociable, family life. It seems alien to them

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 18:55

I also think that the ignoring of the rules by all the important peoples shows they’re not that scared of the virus.

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 11/12/2021 19:28

The "rules" certainly divided my family last Christmas now they are questioning WTF they bothered.
The No 10 party was the big eye opener and the rules in the South were more lax than here.

Exactly! This is all a joke now
ElephantOfRisk · 11/12/2021 20:35

I put this on another thread, but it really belongs here:

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” - George Orwell, 1984.

Pretty much sums it all up.

WouldBeGood · 11/12/2021 20:54

@ElephantOfRisk chilling

It is. I dug it out the other day to read again but haven't started yet. I'd be as well just watching the news.

mibbelucieachwell · 11/12/2021 22:15

Exactly @ElephantOfRisk . The beeb was explaining at dinner time how we don't yet know how much more transmissible the omicron variant is or if it's more severe. Eh, what about, or if it's less severe?

Lockdownbear · 11/12/2021 23:43

See when Covid 19 all kicked off and we were all going "what's a coronavirus" and they said their were already 4 coronavirus in common circulation.

At what point does Covid 19, just become a 5th coronavirus and no longer treated as a novel virus.

HopefulHetty · 12/12/2021 00:00

When we've all had it once.
