Before I rail, is this correct? Twitter reporting that the SG has issued a questionnaire for school children and s2 and above are asked if they’ve had anal sex, amongst other things?!

It says West Lothian Council has refused to use this/ good on them.

This is just nuts. Especially as it’s “too intrusive” to ask adults what their sex at birth was in the census

I think the overall questionnaire is aimed at p5 and over but the section on if they'd had sex/anal sex is aimed at s4 and above? Yes, from what I've seen of the questions it's very intrusive. That thicko Keith brown claiming that there are no unsolved murders in Scotland, well other than the 100 or so just since 2013 that are unsolved. Justice minister my arse.

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2021 10:21

It was saying kids of 14?

They can fuck off whatever.

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 27/11/2021 10:43

Undeffered s4s could be 14 unless I have my sums wrong?

Lidlfix · 27/11/2021 10:53

They could Elephant my Feb born DD was 14 until Feb of S4.

Lidlfix · 27/11/2021 11:02

I recognise the need for discussing healthy relationships and sex is part of that to a age group who might be/or considering becoming sexually active. I have even (much to my DDs' collective horror) delivered that part of PHSE courses. But not sure what the point of the questionnaire is Confused

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2021 11:09

Yes, I do agree that these things should be discussed @Lidlfix. (Laughing at your Dds horror, I can only imagine Ds!)

But some of it is very much determined by the individual child: there seems to be a drive to make them grow up too soon. DS is pretty wordly wise but some of his cohort are much less so and it seems wrong to me.

Plus who the fuck as an adult would fill in a government survey about their sexual and substance habits?!

OP posts:
ElephantOfRisk · 27/11/2021 11:23

whether it is anonymous or not, I don't think it's appropriate. If nothing else, it could make some feel that they should be having sex/anal sex. I'm not a prude and have always been pretty open with DC (I'm sure not always appreciated!) but I wouldn't want them filling this in before they were adults who could decide for themselves whether they wanted to.

Is the questionnaire something you've seen being used in the lower years of secondary school Lidl? Only, I've seen so much incorrect information relating to second level PSHE online.
Lockdownbear · 27/11/2021 12:00

Yes some S4 are only 14, 15 at the end of the year. Lots of kids aren't able to leave school until Christmas in S5

Lockdownbear · 27/11/2021 14:39

But those questions shouldn't be on any sort of survey. Could you imagine asking students or adults that no nobody's business and certain not questions to ask children who aren't over the age of consent

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2021 14:47

Absolutely @Lockdownbear

Plus kids will take the piss. I’d have said I was smoking weed and swigging vodka whist having anal sex 🤣

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 27/11/2021 14:49

*never did this as a 14 year old

Flossy05 · 27/11/2021 15:29

My son is in S4, he turns 15 next week. My
Ds will be horrified when he’s asked to complete that.
Why would the SG want this info?

ecceromani · 27/11/2021 15:38

I don't really understand why schools/SG need this information?
They don't ask adults this info so why would they need it from school kids, whether they're 14 or 16yr olds?

Lockdownbear · 27/11/2021 15:54

But yes I agree some kids will make stuff up to avoid being seen as a kid to other kids, who in turn don't know what is true and isn't

alicesfavouritepen · 27/11/2021 17:27

I missed the announcement in full. Is that England going back to masks?

Tailendofsummer · 27/11/2021 17:36

He said more details would be coming out, but it just seemed to be retail and public transport.

ecceromani · 27/11/2021 17:42

"Looking into reintroducing in retail and transport" was what he said

alicesfavouritepen · 27/11/2021 17:45

It's a strange way to express it. Surely they are either reintroducing them or not. These unclear announcements are always so bloody annoying!

WouldBeGood · 27/11/2021 17:51

Looks like that’s my Christmas trip fucked. Now to get a PCR two days after return and self isolate til negative result.

All for a fucking variant with no serious ill effects and I’m triple fucking jagged

Really sorry to hear that. It's all a bit mental isn't it. I'm not watching the news or reading it. Lots of people going into a frenzy !
WouldBeGood · 27/11/2021 17:58

@Pootle40 thanks. It’s absolute mental.

@WouldBeGood when we got day 2 PCRs we ordered in advance so they were sat at home, did them on landing posted in a NHS priority box and got the results within 18 hours there are some really good companies out there.
Would just wait and see.

I think it's pretty sensible given they don't have enough info about it yet but it seems to give a different positive PCR result so they will get data quickly.
I much prefer they do it this way then have Christmas cancelled for a second year and go on lockdown for another 3 months over winter like last one!
