@amazeandastonish

thanks *@Mistressiggi* you may well be right, it just seemed strange to me as pre pandemic we were told by he then art teacher that DD was "her favourite" and "just wonderful" and "knows more than me"

I'd be more worried, I think, if it was a key subject like English or Maths. I feel sad more than anything as DD really loved art.

Oh no no don't be sad or think anything bad, I can almost guarantee that everyone in the class will be down as a 2! (Or however it was phrased). It will literally be about how much they have done, if the class hasn't had a chance to cover all the outcomes and experiences then even Picasso would not be put down as working as a 4. I would make a quick call/email to the school if it is still concerning you. Here's a link to the CFE Art Experiences and Outcomes - education.gov.scot/Documents/expressive-arts-eo.pdf

Chris Musson reporting that Larry Flanagan of the EIS has “told” SG that school mask mandates can be lifted when vaccination rates in teenagers reach 90%. WTAF?

WouldBeGood · 25/11/2021 15:07

That is great railing @Aurea. Quite bloody right.

OP posts:
Aurea · 25/11/2021 15:07

I saw that too. Lots of railing today then.........

runningpink · 25/11/2021 15:08

I was £60 last weekend which will last two weeks if I’m lucky. Absolutely ridiculous.

runningpink · 25/11/2021 15:09

Not a rail but can anyone recommend a perfume for someone in their 30s? Going to shops to smell some isn’t an option for me. doubt would smell through a mask anyway!

runningpink · 25/11/2021 15:10

Oh I have a rail now! Just heard on radio Scottish government are keeping track and trace people until at least September 2022! 😡

Lockdownbear · 25/11/2021 15:23

I think they'll be an up roar if they do that. You can guarantee that no restrictions will ease in autumn.
Scot Gov are taking things far too far.

MLMshouldbeillegal · 25/11/2021 16:12

@WouldBeGood

Chris Musson reporting that Larry Flanagan of the EIS has “told” SG that school mask mandates can be lifted when vaccination rates in teenagers reach 90%. WTAF?
What a fucking arse.

Flanagan, not Musson. Who the fuck does he think he is? And the really scarey thing is that herself will listen to him.

Mistressiggi · 25/11/2021 16:56

In the interests of accuracy -
"The majority of our members feel that face coverings should be in place over the winter period,” he told MSPs, previewing a survey of teachers due to be released next week.
Mr Flanagan suggested that the face covering mandate in secondary schools could also be lifted when vaccination rates reach 90% in pupils.
He is entitled to give his opinion. He holds no power over the government or the shitstorm schools have been in over the past couple of years wouldn't have happened this way.

amazeandastonish · 25/11/2021 17:25

Its the unions telling the government what to do.

OnceUponAWhine · 25/11/2021 19:22

He also supports vaccinations for 5-11yo and would like for JCVI to approve them, as they currently haven’t for that age group.

Absolutely crossing a line, unions should have no influence on a child’s medical status. I also personally worry he/they will push for masks to return to this age group as a coercive tactic for the vaccine. Anything is possible now.

OnceUponAWhine · 25/11/2021 19:31

Mr Flanagan suggested that the face covering mandate in secondary schools could also be lifted when vaccination rates reach 90% in pupils.

Total disregard for any increase in mental health issues or community-level immunity from cases across all years (incl.double vaxxed teachers, staff and pupils who’ve already chosen to have the vaccine). It’s Scotland’s shame that unions still have the most influence on government decisions in Education- not the collective voice of the staff (non union) parents and pupils themselves

MLMshouldbeillegal · 25/11/2021 19:38

Mr Flanagan is a fucking ENGLISH TEACHER. He's perfectly qualified to teach Hamlet, or discuss imagery in poetry.

What he is not qualified to do is pontificate on medical matters or publicly give his opinion on vaccination of primary school children. That is what doctors are for. Having said that, herself has been taking advice from a dentist through most of this shit show.

SNP are totally in thrall of the unions. They are not putting children first.

WouldBeGood · 25/11/2021 19:54

Quite. His disregard for the best interests of the child is despicable.

OP posts:
Mistressiggi · 25/11/2021 19:54

This is the same SNP who sent pupils back without any social distancing in August 2020 because they bowed to the pressure of a so-called parent group? Not a whiff of vaccines back then. Where were the all-powerful unions when John Swinney did a complete 360 degree turn in the last week of term and ditched the safety mitigations? How well did unions manage to make education staff become any of the vaccine priority groups (they didn't). And when we asked to finish a couple of days early last Christmas so it was possible to join in the christmas fun and not be contact traced on Christmas Day - nope, unions didn't succeed in sorting that either.
I actually wish they were even half as powerful as you're imagining them to be.

OnceUponAWhine · 25/11/2021 19:56

I heard the dentist on radio today- he’s back for the winter messages of doom- wanging on about testing before you visit anyone, or get together for Christmas, test every time you are going anywhere etc, etc.

He’s going to pop up on a seasonally-themed TV advert soon isn’t he? No doubt donning a Christmas jumper and patronising us about our behaviour at the Christmas dinner table.

Remember how life-threatening a tattie spoon was this time last year? So I suppose we have made some progress…

Lidlfix · 25/11/2021 20:08

Mistress 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Flossy05 · 25/11/2021 20:14

I could happily ram a mask down Mr Flanagans throat. I support mitigations in schools where they are needed but what I cannot stand is him waxing lyrical about science and medicine. It is clear that he couldn’t care less about children and is completely incapable of having a balanced approach to anything. We will never reach a 90% vaccination rate in kids.
Who knows the true extent of his influence but he speaks although he is the minister for health and education. He’s an arrogant t*%t.

Scottishskifun · 25/11/2021 20:32

I definitely don't agree with a union stating to MSPs when masks should be removed from mandate, its not for a union to say x level.

But I have many teachers as friends who are mixed opinion, most actually want to see improved ventilation as the priority but aren't seeing it at all.
This is where different health boards differed, teachers were put on a priority list up here and called when there were spare vaccines, same with police officers, fire service and front line council workers. But that was our health board and the subsequent 3 councils.

WouldBeGood · 25/11/2021 20:33

The dentist is appalling too.

@Mistressiggi and @Lidlfix get that you’re coming at this from a different perspective, and all railing welcome here

rookiemere · 25/11/2021 20:41

@runningpink not exactly sure what someone in their 30s would like, but a lot of companies offer perfume samples to try. I am rather partial to Shay & Blue Blood Orange - and you can buy a set of samples www.shayandblue.com/products/sample-set?campaignid=12276187088&adgroupid=119573924597&adid=563892731022&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIs4C21q609AIVg7p3Ch2yhQebEAAYASAAEgLKkvD_BwE.
M&S also do perfume samples to order - I've got a few of their fragrances- not terribly long lasting on the whole , but inexpensive.

Mistressiggi · 25/11/2021 20:45

I am railing that it's Black Friday tomorrow and as usual the only person in the house with any sense of urgency around Christmas shopping (or any sense it needs down at all, never mind urgently) is the one with the vagina.
That's me, for the avoidance of any doubt.

WouldBeGood · 25/11/2021 20:52

@runningpink dd suggests a Vera Wang perfume.
