Awww he's so cute.

Dentist are a nightmare just now, I'm on my second lot of antibiotics for a tooth in the space of 4 weeks. Tooth needs to come out, dentist said he'd refer to dental surgeon- except I don't think he's actually done it. 🤔

mapleleavesreturn · 15/11/2021 20:55

Definitely titsintiers I wanted 2021 to be memorable for something good and not gloomy. You must be getting to the calm waters of having a relatively well trained dog that can do long-ish walks?

titsintiers · 15/11/2021 21:13

He's pretty chilled and well behaved. But his recall is piss poor and he can't be trusted off lead. Otherwise all good. Enjoy your new companion 🐶

WouldBeGood · 15/11/2021 21:37

Scotland beat Denmark 2-0!!

Yay! Wasn't expecting that at all.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 15/11/2021 21:49

That game was brilliant.

runningpink · 16/11/2021 09:37

Iv got a really bad feeling about todays announcement. Think I’m just going into panic mode though

WouldBeGood · 16/11/2021 09:41

@runningpink god, with you on this.

Dreading the announcement too Sad

I know it is a very tough time for everybody and the government has to make difficult decisions and Coronavirus Hasn’t Gone Away and etc etc etc. But I am not sure that the government’s role in a crisis should be constantly making people stressed and anxious with a drip-drip of vague warnings ahead of whatever the bad news announcement will be this time.

MaxNormal · 16/11/2021 10:09

GoldenOmber quite. Yesterday before the Downing Street update I was actually a bit teary. It's an ongoing psychological onslaught and us poor bastards get it double.

Scottishskifun · 16/11/2021 10:10

So I'm railing against the vaccination line..... After seeing discussion on here I double checked glad I did as was told I would have been turned away due to insufficient time..... Except it was the vaccination line who booked me in!!!

So I nearly completely wasted a appointment slot! Rescheduled for the correct number of weeks but it makes me think how many slots are being wasted by wrong info.....🙄

LizzieMacQueen · 16/11/2021 10:31

I'll report back later but my DH has his booster appt this afternoon, booked it yesterday. He'll be 23 weeks and 1 day past his #2 vaccination. Will he be turned away? I'll let you know.

I have mine booked tomorrow, different location, and I'll be exactly 23 weeks since #2. Had my flu vac yesterday.

StarryEyeSurprise · 16/11/2021 10:35

Yeah it's 24 weeks for your booster.

When's the announcement today please?

GoldenOmber · 16/11/2021 10:37

2.15 I think

WouldBeGood · 16/11/2021 11:22

I saw this yesterday. Sums up the pre announcement feeling

@LizzieMacQueen that would be great thanks 😊 my rescheduled is booked for 22 weeks the guy on the phone said it was possible and 24 weeks for me is Christmas 🤶 so hopefully it should be fine as I notice England is actually available from 5 months not 6 so hopefully Scotland will follow suit soon!

mapleleavesreturn · 16/11/2021 13:02

And the quarter of businesses who are on the verge of chucking in the towel must be dreading it.

Tiredoftiers · 16/11/2021 13:32

I feel really nervous of the announcement today. Still in the house recovering from covid, still feel pretty rotten. Covid vaccinating plus booster, but still got it. Normally pretty fit and healthy and this has floored me.
I wish they would return to at least trying to contact trace children, and changing the case definition and criteria for testing. At the moment testing is only for the 3 classic symptoms, but anecdotally and according to information from COVID Zoe there is more of a spectrum of symptoms which should be indicative of the need for a PCR test.
It feels like each of the decisions they make place the blame at the population rather than them looking at what systems they can put in place to reduce transmission and spread. A good starting point would be robust research into the symptoms that people present with.

GoldenOmber · 16/11/2021 13:37

One of the issues with this would be that you’re still supposed to self-isolate until PCR results come through. With the number of other bugs about at the moment, expanding the PCR criteria to things like runny noses/headaches/feeling tired would mean half the kids in schools would be off waiting for results some days.

They could do more to publicise the other symptoms it can present with in children and make it clearer you can use LFTs for them, though, that would be something at least.

GoldenOmber · 16/11/2021 13:40

Also, they do contact trace children to a degree, don’t they? Definitely when kids in my oldest DC’s class have tested positive, the children that sit next to them got told to get PCRs and self-isolate awaiting results, and the rest of the class got the ‘warn and inform’ letter suggesting LFTs.

They do contact tracing for children though? My son just tested positive a few days ago. I'm the same re still recovering. We have people at work who have had their boosters and still ill. I'm sorry you're feeling rubbish. Maybe they thought the vaccines would do more to stop people catching it? We have over 20 staff now, all vaccinated yet still ill from covid. I don't think people are holding back from doing PCRs to be honest. I think they need to start isolating classes with multiple cases. I know that won't be popular with parents though!
StarryEyeSurprise · 16/11/2021 13:48

Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah - now only children who do sleepover with each other are told to isolate ( I believe- my son's not in school). We certainly have had positive cases in class and no child has been asked to self isolate as far as I'm aware. Also, where teachers have been positive, children in their class are not counted as close contacts.
Tiredoftiers · 16/11/2021 13:48

Absolutely agree, cause they will not acknowledge that it causes other symptoms. And while they refuse to allow symptomatic testing for covid for anything other than the three symptoms they will not be able to gather any data that contradicts that evidence. You are declaring you have one of those symptoms to get a PCR test if you are unwell in any way.
Test and protect recorded me as an asymptomatic case.

GoldenOmber · 16/11/2021 13:54

I have had covid pre-vaccine, and while I wasn’t severely ill it wasn’t much fun. I would rather not get it again.

But I’m not willing to put all the under-18s through massive disruption to their lives and education again to save me a couple of weeks of feeling crap. So I can’t in good conscience sign up to proposals like going back to whole-class isolation or asking any kid with any potential symptoms to self-isolate until they get PCR results - especially since all it’ll do is slow down the spread of infection and make it take longer until I get exposed again, not make covid go away so I never get exposed again.

Tiredoftiers · 16/11/2021 13:58

They certainly have not given any notification of close contacts within my DCs school. Its literally just an advise you do a LFT before return to school.

With an email saying if anyone develops "symptoms" book a PCR. No info regarding symptoms or what to look out for in children. If you go to NHSinform and check your childs symptoms, and they don't have one of the three symptoms which they define as :

Which symptoms do you have? Select all that apply to you.

Please note: A new, continuous cough means coughing for longer than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours.

If you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual.

A high temperature or fever
New continuous cough
Change in sense of smell or taste

Then the next screen tells you they don't think you are at risk of having coronavirus......... and to do a LFT.

I can't help feeling it is no bloody wonder it is spreading so effectively.
