@alicesfavouritepen but the SNP also bypassed the tender process for PPE and then didn't use warehouse loads of it.... It wasn't to the same value or scale but like I said previously none of them can throw stones without stones coming back at them!

They all have aspects they are guilty of. If you hate corruption then you have to hate the majority of the parties out there as on one level or another they have all done it! Of course the tories is bad and runs deep but just because another party isn't as bad doesn't mean its any less acceptable to have corruption or bypass tender processes if its a lesser value.

Its a bit like saying its OK for a 5 year old to hit a teacher but not OK for a 9 year old...... None of it should be acceptable.
But surely I can throw stones which is how this started.

I rail about the Tories and all of a sudden it's an SNP bad conversation 🤷🏻‍♀️

alicesfavouritepen · 13/11/2021 22:37

They are all at it.

Well let's just accept it then will we? It's fine that Tories gave millions in backhanders because the SNP made a shit vaccine app. 🙄

It's just whataboutery.

WouldBeGood · 14/11/2021 01:29

I’ve been out drinking and foot tapping, no masks, happy times. No railing for once

@Scottishskifun

Morally this to me is so wrong when parts of the world still has vulnerable people who are crying out for vaccinations.
Yes, I think the WHO have pointed this out too.
StarryEyeSurprise · 14/11/2021 07:50

@Scottishskifun

I have never said *@starryeyesuprise* that Tories don't have serious corruption in parts. I'm saying that the SNP also have questionable dealings as well (and also pointed out labour party who have millions spent on questionable defence contracts).

They are all at it.
Its your personal opinion that SNP haven't done anything wrong, I'm pointing out that actually they have and yes it's lesser extent but it's still dodgy at the end of the day and neither do they come up gleaming I mean their head of treasurey enquiries quit because they were denied proper access.... Its hardly exemplatory behaviour is it if their own party members quit?
Or just like the tories have members accused of sex scandals (much less but its still occurring within a party) .... Like Labour have had the same.

It's great to be passionate about the party you support but come on take off the rose tinted specs for even a second and be realistic. All parties have dodgy aspects somewhere.

The thing is, they're not 'all at it'. You've used the SG spending money on social care and education as corruption. It's not.

The SG have not, ever, given millions of pounds to friends and family for non existent PPE. This simply hasn't happened.

I really don't have much more to say as you believe that the above is corruption. So let's leave it at that.

Scottishskifun · 14/11/2021 07:55

Right so no other party (including the SNP) have ever had a corruption scandal @starryeyesuprise....... Get real!!!

They all have corrupt elements you can believe that the sun shines out of their arses all you like with still no answer to missing 600k of donor money raised for a specific purpose.....

They all have bad elements every single party!

Scottishskifun · 14/11/2021 08:14

Found out that Wales have introduced back maternity care controls including no partners until active Labour stage - approx 8cm.

I really hope Scotland doesn't go backwards in this it's horrific to make women go through maternity elements without a supportive person there.

alicesfavouritepen · 14/11/2021 08:34

But surely in order to vote in a world of all corrupt politicians you create a hierarchy of 'badness'? Or are all bad elements equal in your eyes?

It's okay for the Tories to misappropriate tens of millions to friends and families because the SNP lost £600,000?

It's okay tHat billions were wasted on a test and trace system that didn't work because the Scottish vaccine app is a bit shit.

I think I'd be considering my own position a bit more carefully before dishing out the rather rude advice for others to 'get real'.

Iwantthesummersun · 14/11/2021 08:45

Don’t know the last time I checked into any eating venue. Don’t bother and no one asks. I sit in my classroom all day with a room full of kids and haven’t been considered a close contact of any of the positive cases in my class since summer. I’m certainly not a close contact of anyone in a cafe while I have a cuppa.

Haudyourwheesht · 14/11/2021 08:50

It's going to be frustrating if they hit the whole country with restrictions when some areas are markedly worse than others. Having been at the pointy end of the levels system last year it's a little frustrating.

Scottishskifun · 14/11/2021 09:19

@alicesfavouritepen but the same can be said for the Scottish track and trace system?! Which also isn't really effective and they have basically given up unless it's a high risk setting 🤷‍♂️ we don't have a "world leading" track and trace system either and SG were found to be fundging the response figures with some great exclusions on analysis.

I'm saying they are both shit Tories to a greater extent but nobody is coming out smelling of roses here!
I don't think any of them should be held on a pedastool of shining examples tbh and yes it would be brilliant to see all elements end but that spans all parties as well.

Scottishskifun · 14/11/2021 09:20

*fudging

alicesfavouritepen · 14/11/2021 09:29

The English system has so far cost 37 billion. Billion.

That's an incomprehensible number. Not comparable imo.

You really aren't saying that the Tories are shit at all. You're defending them by saying everyone else is the same which just isn't true.

Scottishskifun · 14/11/2021 09:38

😂 And we don't know the cost of the Scottish one because they refuse the FOIs and will simply state its complex but that 1.1 billion of funding has been provided.

No I'm saying that Tories are shit but yes they all have shit elements and it's naive to think it's only one party.
Your up in arms about an English system for a much bigger population (55 million compared to 5).
Fair enough if that's the soap box you wish to stand on but to me it all seems like a crap system but given its devolved as part of health I don't see other then your objection to the Tories as a whole how it has any effect on your day to day life etc. Scotland gets more health funding per head of population than in England.
Not every shit aspect of Scottish life is as a result of the tories given the number of devolved aspects frankly its a poor and repeatative argument.

alicesfavouritepen · 14/11/2021 09:45

They didn't refuse the FOI - its googleable.

Of course I'm on my soapbox. Why should I not be? The Tories do whatever they want and nobody gives a shit.

Another news day where our PMs bit on the side is back with more tales of how he promised her money and connections and the rest. They're all the same though. Just as bad as each other 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also maths isn't my string point but even if we round the 1.1 billion up to 1.5 the difference in the population between the countries doesn't account for the huge difference there. Nor does it explain why Dido Harding had anything to do with it.

I've actually just been through using test and protect.
Had an e- mail/ text to say I'm positive at 11. By 1 they'd phoned me to ask for close contacts. I didn't answer as was sleeping. They e mailed asking me to phone a number as they'd tried to contact me. They phoned again at 3 ish, which I missed again as phone was on silent. They phoned again at dinner time and I spoke to them then. They were brilliant.

I don't know why you're so angry, or that's how it comes across anyway. This was just last weekend. My son has just tested positive this morning so I expect a call around lunch time.

Just a wee update- we've had the call from Tand P already. No contacts to report as we've not left the house!

Thanks for the update, but it really isn’t some high-end world leading system🤣 They quite simply needed to close your ‘case’ following the PCR, hence the phone calls. I said on another thread, T&T didn’t bother that my relative had been at Murrayfield the day before! Pp is correct, T&T have changed their process- no way can they afford to be using the same process as pre vaccines. They’re also not encouraging PCRs without symptoms anymore, so for everyone using it like a drop in centre and not just getting on with life, it actually costs to process with human resources at each site. It suits the narrative though to sustain these sites. Wait until Tuesday, we’ll be fed another feardoom message, because they can’t afford another lockdown (anyone who works in Scot Gov can confirm this) so they need to do the closest action without actually locking down. But maybe this entire debate needs to be shifted over to the tier board? Hope you and your family get well soon @StarryEyeSurprise
mapleleavesreturn · 14/11/2021 14:35

I had to chuckle at someone in the mafia being cited as evidence when talking about uk govt corruption.

In general though, not railing much as have bitten the bullet and gotten a puppy who is biting and chewing everything and cheering us all up with adorable-ness.

StarryEyeSurprise · 14/11/2021 14:38

It wasn't someone IN the Mafia. 😂

WouldBeGood · 14/11/2021 14:57

Oooh, a puppy! What kind @mapleleavesreturn?

OP posts:
mapleleavesreturn · 14/11/2021 16:06

Either way, the mafia thing was yet another poorly substantiated pick and mix comparison. Good luck with your isolation starry and hope you don't feel too poorly.

It's a setter wouldbegood will certainly keep us from too much introspection over this winter! We needed to think of something other than covid, politics, lockdowns, other family worries and all the things that drag you down mentally. Dogs are great for being in the moment. We had a very active dog before so I'm not worried about the activity levels.

I saw the Holland lock down news yesterday and didn't have any time to think further thanks to the pup!

WouldBeGood · 14/11/2021 16:49

Oh,@mapleleavesreturn, an Irish setter? My old girl was the most gorgeous dog ever, and surprisingly lazy
