Aww lovely ❤

For those going away 24th of October is being reported as the switch date from day 2 PCR test to a day 2 lateral flow test.
We had luck clicking the link through our airline (we needed lft before the flight back to the UK) and they came up as £15 each that way.

It's a huge drop in price from the £340 in August if we would have flown through Scotland at the time to £30 for 2 adults! Hopefully it will mean there will still be a aviation industry left here!

sartorius · 15/10/2021 08:05

@Scottishskifun do you know will the switch to LFT be for flying into Scotland as well or just England?

Not yet confirmed on the date but last update previously NS said she would align to England on travel and testing.....let's hope she doesn't backtrack on that one!

sartorius · 15/10/2021 09:05

Ok thanks @Scottishskifun

titsintiers · 15/10/2021 09:05

A beautiful autumnal morning, crisp but sunny. And it's Friday- love days like these!

ssd · 15/10/2021 11:35

Lovely here too

Groovee · 15/10/2021 19:00

At my favourite lodge this weekend. Walked into Coldingham to the pub when we arrived. Just had dinner and chilling.

WouldBeGood · 15/10/2021 19:26

Picked a great day for it @Groovee! Enjoy.

I'd quite like to rail about the fact that England are switching to LFT for day 2 tests to align with the school holidays, but if Scotland go with them on the same date it will be just a bit too late for many of the Scottish school holidays (me included).

Couldn't for once she couldn't she do Scottish family holidaymakers a favour and bring it in earlier here??

Of course not. Anyway, she’s far too busy building her own profile (in Iceland) to worry about the day job back in Scotland.

I'm just having a quick rail about cancer. How many people have cancer now, that require quite advanced intervention, that would be ok if they could have used the health services as normal? I know a few. You can't possibly speculate but it seems that there are more late diagnoses than before.

frasersmummy · 15/10/2021 23:19

I have just read what NS said this week .. cases , hospitalisations, positivity rate all falling so need for extra restrictions

eh should that not read cases , hospitalisations, positivity rate all falling so we can revoke work from home and remove masks?? no?? just me that thinks she is just determined to maintain control of the population at all costs

WouldBeGood · 16/10/2021 00:04

Not just you @frasersmummy

Your arent alone @frasersmummy

Any one else saw the appeals for people to put people up coming to the COP26 summit. How nuts would people need to be to have complete strangers in their houses? Thats before you take into account we are mid pandemic.

Agree. It's like it's been forgotten that people are still working from home whether they like it or not, and high school children are still wearing masks. Level minus zero, or whatever it is, my arse.

If the dr's had listened to me last year instead of saying my dad's constant cough might be Covid then a chest infection despite a 5st weight loss. Maybe he wouldn't have suffered so badly then died 15 days after the transplant unit tested him and found cancer in his liver, lungs and lymph nodes. So when the adverts about coughs lasting over 3 weeks come on, it upsets me that no one listened.
rookiemere · 16/10/2021 08:16

I'm so sorry about your DF Groovee - that's just inexcusable from a medical perspective.

WouldBeGood · 16/10/2021 08:53

@Groovee awful thing 💐

I think it's why I pushed for Dh to be seen when he had sepsis. Covid wasn't what was wrong with him and I was right to push that one. Fortunately got an out of hours GP who listened.

frasersmummy · 16/10/2021 09:24

I am so sorry groovee that's heartbreaking

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 16/10/2021 10:29

That’s awful @Groovee, a true case of medical negligence. I’m so sorry you’ve had such a rough time x.

I think a lot of GPs, and people in general, became so obsessed with COVID that everything under the sun was attributed to it, as if other diseases had magically disappeared. Like an extreme form of awareness bias where the lists of ‘potential COVID’ symptoms grew to include just about everything. My own DM had an exacerbation of an existing condition last year (not cancer), and is now convinced that it’s due to COVID (despite never having confirmed COVID) because the GP told her they were seeing lots of this. At the time you only got tested if you were practically dead so the COVID cases the GP was using for comparison were never confirmed either, rather it seems every respiratory illness in that time frame was assumed to be COVID.

All through this CRUK have been warning about increased cancer deaths because of late diagnoses, and I still can’t believe they shut down down screening, and even some treatments! As bad as COVID was (not so much now) the vast majority would come through fine with no intervention - the opposite is true of cancer. They are estimating 1000s of missed/late diagnoses that are now much harder to treat.
