Didn't mean to repeat "interesting", but it is interesting! Grin

sartorius · 10/10/2021 21:38

@WouldBeGood

Apparently 25% of teens vaccinated in Scotland as against 4% in England. Interesting.
I think that's 12-15 yr olds
WouldBeGood · 10/10/2021 21:39

I can’t remember the details, but just saw it in passing. There’s just such a different vibe here I wonder if it’s that?

We got put in a lift with six other people today, no masks. Imagine if the dentist saw

Oh! So it’s even higher than I’d read. Thanks

sartorius · 10/10/2021 21:59

I haven't heard what percentages are like in England but going by the coronavirus boards on Mumsnet it sounds like a it's being done in schools

titsintiers · 11/10/2021 07:18

We've snuck over the border to Englandshire. It was like a breath of fresh air walking into the pub unmasked.

I have the 'Rona along with dd 🙄

Really annoyed as I came down with what I thought was a cold last Tuesday. Did a LF on Tuesday, negative. Did a LF on Friday, negative. Went about my merry way all week, went to a gig on Thursday, a spa on Friday, drive dds pals about on Saturday.

Dd comes home on Sunday with what we think is my cold. Do a LF test, immediately positive. Repeat dds test and do one of my own. Again dd is immediately positive and I'm again negative. Both go for a PCR test an hour later and get the results this morning. Both positive 🤷🏻‍♀️

So dd is pretty unwell and been in her bed since we got back from the PCR test. I'm okay just coughing and a bit achy. Not sure wether to start my isolation period from last Tuesday when the cold symptoms started or from yesterday when I felt the aches and pains 🤔

Oh poor you @dancemom . I must remember wrong because I thought you'd had Covid recently

sartorius · 11/10/2021 16:28

Oh no @dancemom and DDConfused
It would sound like you had it last week as loads people are saying it starts as a cold now!
Hopefully you're over the worst of it and I'm sure DD will bounce back quickly at her age.

Now remember Mumsnet will expect a sick line from your doctor if you can't do you "job" hereGrin

Get well soonThanksCake

dancemom · 11/10/2021 16:41

Ahahahahaha @sartorius off my actual paying job so no excuses as to not doing my Mumsnet role in a timely manner this week 😆

From NHS website.
How long to self-isolate
If you test positive, your self-isolation period includes the day your symptoms started (or the day you had the test, if you did not have symptoms) and the next 10 full days.

Sorry you’ve came down with it wish you both a speedy recovery.

dancemom · 11/10/2021 18:27

Thanks @Coquohvan

My dilemma being I started "cold" symptoms last Tuesday and the cough only started on Saturday. So do I assume the cold was actually Covid or that symptoms didn't officially start until Saturday.

I have an email from NHS saying my isolation period ends Wednesday because that's the dates I have them but then I received a phone call from T&P and they have said to start my isolation from Saturday 🤷🏻‍♀️

My OH is in the same boat @dancemom he has taken it from day the coldly symptoms started

Re drop ins for 12-15s in England. Nope- I tried! Took eldest for theirs & asked if they could do 13-year-old at the same time but no joy, got to wait for the incredibly slow school vaccinations

Scottishskifun · 11/10/2021 19:37

@dancemom hope you and DD feel better soon!
Taking vit D and vit C can help also get someone to drop off a load of vitamin rich soups for you guys!

WouldBeGood · 11/10/2021 23:22

Get well soon @dancemom and dancebabies 💐

dancemom · 12/10/2021 09:16

The messaging around isolation length is all over the place, plus when DD had it the calculation was incorrect as they took it from test date rather than symptom date even though we filled in the form with symptom date!

The email from the NHS I have says "This includes the day your symptoms started (or the test date if you’ve no symptoms) and the next 9 full days." yet other places said symptom + 10 days!

I ended up calling Test and Trace who put me through to Lothian Health Board who modified the date in their system so it was symptom date + 9 days.

Nondescriptname · 12/10/2021 22:36

Is there any info on where people are catching the bug?

Scottishskifun · 13/10/2021 09:27

@Nondescriptname

Is there any info on where people are catching the bug?
It's endemic now it just circulates within the population its not really linked anymore to attending a certain pub etc. Other than when there is large case numbers associated with a big event it just occurs everywhere tbh! 🤷‍♂️
ElephantOfRisk · 13/10/2021 10:03

The most cases are in the 0-14 age range and the least within the the 20-24. My non expert opinion is that the 20-24 group are possibly currently at peak immunity from vaccination, least likely to have a young child and also least likely to be randomly tested because a family member has symptoms.

I agree it's endemic.

Nondescriptname · 13/10/2021 10:39

I meant are there more cases from eg socialising in homes, or going to pubs or what??
I'm still going nowhere and it sounds like that's going to continue then.
