New thread, a very appropriate title I feel ...

Hang on... What does that mean? So on Thursday there were only 300-odd cases? (5500ish in the last 24 hours and 5800ish in the last 48 hours). That seems surprisingly/ incredibly low. I assume more will come out of the system over the weekend...? Still - hospitalisations are following cases in the right direction at least... Thanks again dancemom!

ResilienceWanker · 17/09/2021 16:11

Sorry... Cross post with youcannot there! Though seems like I'm in good company with my confusion Grin

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 17/09/2021 16:14

It's very confusing isn't it! Why couldn't they just publish the one set of case numbers?

Mistressiggi · 17/09/2021 16:20

I should stress that, by "make them bloody pay for it" I mean actually pay money for the chair, not that I would go radge on them in a Robert de Niro style!

titsintiers · 17/09/2021 17:10

Even travelling tabby confused by today's numbers and what they actually relate to.

Haudyourwheesht · 17/09/2021 20:37

Looks right enough.

Wondering if anyone knows anything concrete about drop in vaccinations for 12+ ? I know it hasn't started yet but can't find anything official online.

LoopyGremlin · 18/09/2021 02:57

@Mistressiggi

I found this on the NHS website. www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/invitations-and-appointments/vaccinating-children-and-young-people-aged-12-to-17-years

ResilienceWanker · 18/09/2021 10:41

@Haudyourwheesht

Looks right enough.
Maybe! So the 5500 is 24 hours, plus some. And the 5800 are a few extra that weren't included in those "some". Why not just give the full 48 hour figure and let people infer how that is split among the 2 days?! So somewhere around 3000 per day? Everyone understands "these things happen" but it's not especially transparent to provide 2 different numbers for 2 different time periods - and it's not clear where those additional 300ish will make it into the formal figures!
Mistressiggi · 18/09/2021 10:47

@LoopyGremlin that link was useful, leads to a leaflet for that age group, thank you

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 18/09/2021 14:19

It’s back over 6000 today again though, which doesn’t fit with a decreasing trend unless the backlog is still working through…

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 18/09/2021 14:27

There's a note above on the dashboard which I think explains that's the total since the 15th. It's not all that clear to me though.

mibbelucieachwell · 18/09/2021 14:32

It's not clear is it? 73,000 tests is more than usual so hopefully includes more than 24 hours.

dancemom · 18/09/2021 15:38

• 6,116* new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 73,358* new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
â—¦ 9.0% of these were positive
• 27 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
• 99 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
• 1,052 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
• 4,151,735 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,802,183 have received their second dose

  • There may be variability in the number of new cases and tests reported in the latest 24 hour period. This is due to a backlog of data being processed following technical issues affecting reporting on 16 September 2021.

I am part of a Covid test trial thing. Whole school has the option to do it. Take a lateral flow and PCR in the same half hour and report results. Posted PCR (my first) this morning.

Will I count in test stats although I have no symptoms at all and am just helping to see if Lateral Flow are picking up cases?

This kind of thing will skew the numbers.

sartorius · 18/09/2021 21:44

No I don't think trials will count in daily stats.
There's been various trials going on throughout the pandemic so expect they are gathered and analysed by the researchers in different way

LoopyGremlin · 19/09/2021 11:54

Does anyone know how long contact tracing takes roughly?

Cismyfatarse · 19/09/2021 13:20

Pretty good service. In the priority box for 11.30am pick up. Result (negative - Phew) texted to me just before 10am this morning.

dancemom · 19/09/2021 14:00

• 3,833* new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 45,985* new tests for COVID-19 that reported results

• 2 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends)

• 100 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
• 1,074 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
• 4,155,048 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,806,980 have received their second dose

Looks like the numbers are falling

I don't understand the ambulance shortage all of a sudden. There were 2000 people in hospital in January and this didn't happen

So.surely covid is not the cause...I'm.sorry If I'm being thick and missing the flaming obvious

Scottishskifun · 19/09/2021 17:28

@frasermummy it's been a massively underfunded and recruitment issues so there isn't enough paramedics.
Add to that many have left service after all the pressures of the last few years plus long waiting times for handover at hospitals and it all gets snarled up.

It's not a result of covid, covid adds to it like winter flu season adds to it usually but it's easier for SG to put everything on covid rather than face up to more mess they have failed to sort properly!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 19/09/2021 18:30

A few weeks ago some medical bod was saying that hospital pressures were less to do with COVID and more to do with all the other things that have been neglected while the health service has been on an emergency footing and people were discouraged from using it. People are now presenting later with more advanced/complicated issues (plus general health is now worse in a lot of cases and we're all a bit less resistant to bugs in general). It's one of the reasons the automatic calls for more restrictions from certain quarters probably won't help much.

dancemom · 20/09/2021 14:04

• 2,917* new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 29,098* new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
â—¦ 10.8%* of these were positive
• 0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed on weekends)
• 97 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
• 1,088 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
• 4,157,613 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,810,775 have received their second dose
*Please note that NHS Grampian Lab have not submitted lab files since Saturday 18 September, investigation into this issue is ongoing.

OP posts:
mibbelucieachwell · 20/09/2021 14:13

Even without the Grampian cases those figures look promising.

Whenisthisgoingtoend · 20/09/2021 14:19

Perhaps Grampian are giving her the 🖕middle finger 😂
