Jings it's really endemic now isn't it. Sort for everyone testing and isolating Sad.

WouldBeGood · 07/09/2021 12:09

It cannot be long until we are hit… my money is on the weekend after when I have a glamorous weekend away planned.

Good vibes to all those currently affected by diseases old and new.

Lorelaithe1st · 07/09/2021 13:53

Long time lurker but I don’t post much. I’m Currently isolating waiting for PCR results Sad I had 2 positive lateral flows yesterday after loads of sneezing in the day. Everyone I was with this weekend has tested negative on lateral flows Confused

I've given up on the idea of October foreign travel as reckon chances are one of us will get covid based on these numbers.

• 46,146 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results

Dd has just messaged me from
School saying she's got a temperature and a sore throat, summoned her home for a LF test

Oh no @dancemom Confused
It's becoming more when will they catch it now rather than if

OhWhatsTheDifference · 07/09/2021 14:43

I'm pissed off now.

My entire family now has it - DH and I have our tests later.

Parents, brothers, SIL, their kids. Two of them have asthma.

They're all missing school, work, meetings. Classes here are probably running at about 60%.

11 of us, and that's one family. We haven't seen each other so it's not like we share a source either. It's just fucking everywhere.

And let's all get a test on day 2 of being a contact and pretend the next week isn't a risk to people you meet at school, work, whatever. It so clearly is.

But hey, cases don't count.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 07/09/2021 14:43

Exactly @sartorius. At the risk of sounding blasé about the whole thing, I'm kind of hoping we come back positive after the tests today - no-one is particularly ill - even smallest one says she's feeling much better now (after about 12 hours of illness...) - and it gets it out of the way.

dancemom · 07/09/2021 14:55

I did a LF and I'm negative so I'm hoping it's just a cold she has

Will get her tested as soon as she gets home

EXACTLY how I feel!
OnceUponAWhine · 07/09/2021 15:11

Yep, who wouldn’t want a mild dose now instead of the depths of winter when the NHS is in crisis mode again. My worry is for the backlog of appointments which may be pushed even further back if hospitals switch back to some kind of Covid priority workflow. The more folk that can get a light dose* of it now, the better. We’re all used to the back to schools cold anyway, not to be flippant, but really it’s looking like no worse than our old friend ‘snot-based bug that surfaces around the time heating is switched back on’ for most people.

*not pronounced doze

OhWhatsTheDifference · 07/09/2021 15:39

It looks like that for kids maybe, but none of the adults I know recently have felt like it was just a cold. Most have been absolutely floored, one had to be assessed in hospital.

OnceUponAWhine · 07/09/2021 15:51

Yep, it’s a virus 🤷‍♀️
Still think hospital now is better than hospital in the depths of winter. Even though any hospital admission was probably a worry for their family.

Rae36 · 07/09/2021 16:10

I jus wish we'd hurry up and get it tbh, we're all going to get it sooner or later. But we've got a few nights away planned for the September weekend so we'll probably get it then.
I had a rotten headache over the weekend, I was sure that was it. But I tested negative.

dancemom · 07/09/2021 17:15

Dd is negative too thankfully

OhWhatsTheDifference · 07/09/2021 17:16

With an LFT?

DD also tested - with an LFT yesterday, but my gut instinct made me book her a PCR which was positive. Just keep an eye Smile

WouldBeGood · 07/09/2021 17:20

The adults I know have ranged from feeling but rough for a couple of days and no symptoms.

Scottishskifun · 07/09/2021 17:23

It is a bit pot luck with adults but thankfully the vaccination is making it a lot less serious.

DH was tired with it but OK otherwise this was prior to vaccination. Friends had since vaccination have had a rubbish few days but fine by day 4/5.

Its not nice if you get multiple different symptoms and have a moderate case, I had over 12 symptoms (prior to vaccination). But I do tend to agree its not going anywhere and in some ways it's better to have it before winter. It does come with one benefit of research is showing the most effective way against new variants is double vaccination and a level of natural immunity. Plus no tests for 90 days is bliss! 😂

OhWhatsTheDifference · 07/09/2021 17:37

Funnily enough DH was too tired to play with DS yesterday, and had to go for a lie down instead. Never happens.

Scottishskifun · 07/09/2021 18:49

He might be positive. Just do what you can to get through the time and rest as much as possible which is hard with children. Disney plus helped DH get through it with a toddler (I was in bed for over 3 weeks and hypoxic at points) plus easy heat up meals or soups.
Hope it's all a mild dose!

OhWhatsTheDifference · 07/09/2021 19:07

Fingers crossed. I had stomach surgery two weeks ago and a cough would be very very very bad.

WouldBeGood · 07/09/2021 19:14

Oh, @OhWhatsTheDifference ouch! Fingers crossed

OhWhatsTheDifference · 07/09/2021 19:40
