Off to Glasgow soon with ds and dd for an overnight at the Premier Inn at St Enoch. Going on the open top bus tour like a proper tourist Grin. I've visited and worked in Glasgow all my life and only live 20 miles away but I'm so looking forward to it.
Poor dh is working, think he's delighted to get peace for a night.

titsintiers · 03/08/2021 11:49

Sounds fab @Ladylunchalot

Is the announcement at 2 today?

dancemom · 03/08/2021 12:07

Yes 2pm

@titsintiers

That's so tough *@TheGenealogist* if you are able to visit once a week I'm sure your mum would really appreciate it. Dementia is an absolutely vile condition.
That it is. My Dad has gone - the person who is there now has flashes of Dad, but is this whole other person I don't recognise.

I will be in touch with Alzheimers Scotland, they have an office local to where my parents live and should be more on the ball with what is available locally.

Back to schools with fucking distancing and fucking masks and fucking isolation.

I loathe and detest what this utter shitebag of a woman and her shitebag MSPs and shitebag voters are doing to our kids.

Haudyourwheesht · 03/08/2021 14:19

Masks for the first six weeks. Well, that's good, because we don't say anything that has to be understood for the first six weeks.

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 14:20

Totally agree @TheGenealogist. What a fucking shower

TheGenealogist · 03/08/2021 14:20

At LEAST the first six weeks.

LoopyGremlin · 03/08/2021 14:25

I missed the announcement. What did she say about schools? Distancing to remain? How is that possible?

Rae36 · 03/08/2021 14:26

I've not been on any of these threads for ages. I just needed a break. I told myself I would carry on in blissful ignorance until August and now it's August. I had a lovely time in July though, my mental health was so much better.

I wanted 3 things, to be able to sing in church without a mask, my kids to not have to wear masks in school all day and a change to the isolation policy in schools. I don't think I've got any of those things today.

I think I preferred my July ignorance.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/08/2021 14:27

Arsehole! So you can go to a nightclub but our kids have to wear masks in schools. Absolutely vile

Pootle40 · 03/08/2021 14:30

My son won't be wearing a mask when he starts high school this month, nor lateral flows because he goes into an absolute meltdown.

dancemom · 03/08/2021 14:31

Masks in schools are just ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. SNP are ruining another year of education.

OP posts:
Cismyfatarse · 03/08/2021 14:32

Fucking, fucking face masks in school!

dancemom · 03/08/2021 14:32

Did anyone else take from her wording, that vaccines for 12-18 year old are about to be approved??

OP posts:
riverrunning · 03/08/2021 14:33

It's so sad for the kids. I suppose we hold out hope that after 6 weeks they get masks off, what's that, early October?

TheGenealogist · 03/08/2021 14:35

@LoopyGremlin

I missed the announcement. What did she say about schools? Distancing to remain? How is that possible?
Basically, schools are to operate exactly as they were before summer. Teachers distancing from pupils. Masks. Sanitising.

They are farting around with not asking whole classes to isolate, and if your child is identified as a close contact, you have to get them a PCR, negative and back they go. Including P1 children. Hmm

And a whole lot of shitey waffle about how Queen Nic knows better than the JCVI and "urges them to reconsider" their decision not to vaccinate healthy children.

Anyone who truly believes she has the best interests of children at heart is deluded.

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 14:37

It just occurred to me that she’s trying ti pressurise them into vaccinating kids, probably for appease that fuckwit from the EIS, who hates children

TheGenealogist · 03/08/2021 14:37

@dancemom

Did anyone else take from her wording, that vaccines for 12-18 year old are about to be approved??
It's very clear, that Nicola thinks she knows better than the JCVI who have recommended against that.

Nicola, with her law degree, and her sidekick Humza who seems more focused on suing a nursery than covid, knows better than all the best epidemiologists, professors and doctors in the UK.

How fucking ARROGANT can you be?

rookiemere · 03/08/2021 14:38

I would have less issue with masks in schools if there was some sort of trade off. So masks but no 10 days isolation after contact if daily testing.

But no yet again all stick no carrot. Numbers are bound to rise when they go back but at what point are DCs allowed to take their chances? Particularly when the rest of society has been left to get on with it and DCs are the least physically impacted by coronavirus.

TheGenealogist · 03/08/2021 14:42

She did say they were looking at new ways of identifying close contacts of a child rather than the whole class. But still, your child's friend tests positive, you have to collect your child from school, miss work, try to arrange PCR, wait for negative result, return to school. And then repeat when another child tests positive.

She is trying to make things as shitey as possible for children, teachers and parents so that we'll agree to the vaccination when she strongarms the JCVI into saying kids should have them, to make her shut up and go away.

Very cross that the BBC are reporting that all restrictions are being dropped. No they fucking aren't.

dancemom · 03/08/2021 14:43

@TheGenealogist I thought that too, all the headlines on multiple news stations reporting the same but it's not reflective of the situation at all!

Rae36 · 03/08/2021 14:43

Man, I wish I could go back to July holiday ignorance.
I am just so fucked off.
Do clubbers have to wear facemasks in nightclubs?

ssd · 03/08/2021 14:43

Are nightclubs opening?
