No holidays for the foreseeable but want to plan a couple of days away for DH's birthday first week August.

Any recommendations for nice hotels where we can see the sea? In Scotland - can't go too far.

Does it need to be the sea or will the river clyde do? There's a lovely hotel where I live in Helensburgh, called Riva x

OllyBJolly · 05/07/2021 17:42

That looks fab @hilbil21 . Good prices too but no availability for the week I want, Thanks though - might go another time

I live in town anyway but was wondering recently about somewhere to suggest to visitors.

Orocco Pier in South Queensferry or The Ship Inn in Elie both have lovely views and are right on the water. They're more restaurants with rooms than hotels.

Upupupwithafish · 05/07/2021 18:43

Knockderry country House Hotel in Cove, Helensburgh. Food is fantastic.

OllyBJolly · 05/07/2021 19:14

Thanks for your suggestions @TheGirlOnTheLanding . The Orocco Pier looks cracking but the seafood restaurant is only open at weekends so I might plan a trip there for when it's open.

I can get one night at the Ship Inn but not the date I wanted. It does look perfect.

There are a couple of hotels at Kippford. They aren't boutique or romantic but I would love to wake up to that view.

Plump82 · 05/07/2021 19:26

The Saltlodge Hotel is beautiful. Not sure if you'll manage to get a booking this late on though.

rookiemere · 05/07/2021 19:28

Unfortunately no sea view , but East Haugh House is a gorgeous hotel with excellent food.

The Kingswood in Burntisland is a proper old school hotel with sea views. Orrocco pier is lovely. There's the hilton at North Queensferry too.
