Starting this thread for those of us who are done. I don’t want to just rail or fight about it with those who still believe that government messaging is in our best interest. Enough is enough.

I read a sad post from a parent of an autistic 3-4 year old saying the child had been forced to wear a mask when getting a test here whilst in great distress, and afterwards they told the parent to book a post test as her child had distressed the staff...

forfucksakenett · 08/07/2021 11:41

@Pootle40

I won't be wearing a mask after the 19th.
Are we making masks optional from the 19th as well?

That's terrible. Kids don't have to wear masks. I hope the poster made an official complaint.
osbertthesyrianhamster · 08/07/2021 11:53

The ads are getting more and more annoying. The wifey who strolls through a massive house you'd have to be fucking minted to afford and then into a dry, sunny garden with no midgies patronising us about making 'safer choices' and still meet outside despite being double-jabbed can get to fuck.

So can the bloke banging on about taking LFT tests twice a week. He can go to fuck, too.

charliebrown59 · 08/07/2021 11:57

forfucksake that's what I thought too but it turns out that over 3s need a mask in test centres which is awful as 3-5 yo otherwise wouldn't have any mask wearing experience really. I'd have complained too.

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 12:25

I’m quitting masks too @Pootle40. People now need to stop complying.

forfucksakenett · 08/07/2021 12:37

I thought you did ages ago @WouldBeGood ?

Is it twisted of me that when this is all over I'll probably miss your moaning about opening us up and freeing us? 😀

It's outrageous. I have a nearly three year old abs the idea of them wearing a mask is laughable. She'd more likely eat it.
WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 12:47

I cannot bloody wait never to have to think
About this pish again @forfucksakenett!

Though we’ll all be dead anyway according to the outrage about returning to normal life 😂

osbertthesyrianhamster · 08/07/2021 12:55

The mask virtue signalling on social media is in full swing. 'Kindness' 'Community' . . . .

And the self-isolating bragging.

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 12:57

Yes, @osbertthesyrianhamster, it’s doing my head in.

forfucksakenett · 08/07/2021 13:03

To be fair as annoying as masks are there is evidence to suggest that if used properly they do limit transmission so it's hardly virtue signalling.

Wakeupin2022 · 08/07/2021 13:04

I will probably still wear a mask. I understand that others won't

But I do expect them to respect my choice and what I've seen on Facebook suggests that may not be the case which is actually pretty shocking.

It is when you post a load of bollocks like that. I mean, just crack on. The tons of 'selfish' et al posts are pure school yard.
WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 13:09

I don’t give a shit of people want to wear them. But I wish they’d leave me alone

Same!

Also see so many incorrectly using them, especially in hot, muggy conditions.

Took the train the other day as I was over the limit to drive and wanted to have some bevvies with a mate. Loads with the mask pulled down to their mouths.

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 13:12

Yeah, cos most people know they don’t work!

But let the believers wear them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wakeupin2022 · 08/07/2021 13:14

@WouldBeGood

See, I've left people alone the whole time. I wouldn't ever say anything or give someone not wearing a mask a dirty look even though I do think they do limit spread. But I don't know a person's reasons.

But all this virtue signalling crap is passing me off! Noone should attack you for not wearing a mask but likewise I am not virtue signalling by wearing one.

Virtue signalling is wearing a mask to make yourself look good. Why on earth would I make myself uncomfortable and have my glasses steam up to make myself look good. It beggars belief.

ElephantOfRisk · 08/07/2021 13:15

At the moment I will wear one when going into a restaurant etc out of respect for them and their licence, it's usually for a few paces until you are seated which is easy enough to do but also a complete waste of time.

I just avoid going anywhere I have to wear one otherwise so don't really use shops etc locally which is a shame.

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 13:17

The virtue signalling is all over social media though @Wakeupin2022

Wakeupin2022 · 08/07/2021 13:19

Anyways it will be interesting as no way is Nicola going to get rid of masks in Scotland. This is a clear way she can be different from BJ and that is the critical thing in her decision making.

Whilst I will probably wear a mask in supermarket or busy places indoors, I wouldn't necessarily be so insistent my kids do.

We are in England and my youngest will absolutely refuse to wear one (he doesn't have to), but when in Scotland he does albeit grudgingly and rips it off as soon as he can.

Wakeupin2022 · 08/07/2021 13:20

Would I think I just saw a really nasty post last night from an anti mask wearer which really annoyed me.

WouldBeGood · 08/07/2021 13:26

I think I’m the same @Wakeupin2022 and really just crabbit because of all the hand wringing - it makes me so cross and fed up. I’m happy if people want to believe masks work and wear them but don’t feel that courtesy is extended the other way so am just totally fucked off.

In non Covid times I was a laidback person 😃

forfucksakenett · 08/07/2021 13:42

@osbertthesyrianhamster eh? Posting that when worn properly masks limit transmissions of illness is virtue signalling bollocks? Okay doke. Hmm

Did I say that? No Hmm. The posts I'm talking about are just that, though, not about masks lowering transmission but about how people who don't use them are basically murderers. But go ahead and get your knickers in the twist. Couldn't give a fuck if others wear masks or not, personally.
