Tingle Grin so doesn't sound like a place for grown ups!

titsintiers · 06/06/2021 16:39

Sounds a bit too grown up for me @SoMuchForSummerLove

Bytheloch · 06/06/2021 18:36

Yep @Lidlfix the council have been on Twitter appealing for anyone who went to that particular bar. I’ve not known them to do that for other breakouts so far🤷‍♀️

WouldBeGood · 06/06/2021 19:36

Tingle sounds like a fun night out

WouldBeGood · 06/06/2021 19:58

Just the name, not the Covid

RaspberryCoulis · 06/06/2021 20:03

Another name with numbers in hospital and ICU remaining completely flat.

Despite all the protestations about third waves, and variants and whatever.

Lidlfix · 06/06/2021 20:04

Scotsnet meet up venue? It would be very easy to find each other Blush

Bytheloch · 06/06/2021 20:22

I’m clearly very old as I’d never heard of the place until I saw the covid messaging😳🤣
WouldBeGood · 06/06/2021 20:37

Ideal @Lidlfix!

@Bytheloch never heard of it either, just like the name 😂

Lidlfix · 06/06/2021 20:55

My DDs are partial to a "Tingle" , so I had heard of it. I can only imagine their horror if I decided to pay it a visit.

Think Wouldbe and I would be ordering fishbowls that might test their mixology skills 🍹🍸

WouldBeGood · 06/06/2021 20:57

😂🍹🥤🧉

They did it in Aberdeen last August except it was a list of over 50 places and they didn't tell the businesses first or even environmental health so it caused a massive angry panic.

Think they have generally stayed clear of it as a tactic since because of it unless they really have to

Haudyourwheesht · 06/06/2021 21:39

It's weird. Have they worked out it was a 'super spreader'? There have been so many cases of transmission through pubs, you wonder why this one is relevant.

I think they weren't following track and trace so missing a lot of people!

Pubs aren't actually that high up the list as far as case links goes (DH does covid response).

Tends to be workplaces, medical settings and education which come higher up due to numbers or ventilation systems.
Supermarkets also have a high number of attendance of positive cases because people have to do shopping!

Its very difficult to tell though because even over a full year they rarely do proper backward tracing to work out sources! Just rely on where people have been within 3 days.

Thanks @dancemom

Really does look like no cause for alarm now

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 07/06/2021 15:49

So cases continuing to rise, but hospitalisations creeping up very slowly and a proportion of that will be incidental because of the definition of a 'hospital admission' and rising levels in the community. I agree - it looks pretty promising. And to be honest, I suspect the SG know this already or they surely wouldn't be allowing the Glasgow fan zones to go ahead with alcohol and no requirement for a negative test.

Haudyourwheesht · 07/06/2021 15:52

Did they confirm that the fan zone will go ahead? I've been out all day so missed the news.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 07/06/2021 15:55

They've sold out of tickets for some of the sessions so I think it'll have to go ahead in some form or there'll be carnage! Apparently the exact arrangements are kept under constant review and a final decision will be made later in the week. They need to get on with it though, since it opens Friday!
Haudyourwheesht · 07/06/2021 15:57

In Scottish Gov style they'll probably cancel it (or ban alcohol) at 4.45 on Thursday.

Scottishskifun · 07/06/2021 16:12

Next time I hear the speach about just because we can doesn't mean we should go to a friends house for dinner Etc I will remind myself of the fan zone with no testing!

WouldBeGood · 07/06/2021 18:13

Posted this on railing but it’s good news on vaccines/cases/hospitalisations. English but relevant

Yes, I agree. I also feel really grumpy about no sports days or end of term outdoor events, decent transition programmes for P7 and no proper P1 classroom visits- but all the fan zones are fine, right? 🤷‍♀️ Great the fan zones can go ahead, it’s a positive we’ve got safely to this point, but it’s like they’ve forgotten all the restrictions still in place at schools, that finish for the holidays soon (including masks on high school kids, when that’s no longer happening in England). It’s a real shame.
Cismyfatarse · 07/06/2021 18:36

I would give up pubs, and certainly think football is a nonsense if it would only allow me and my pupils to be in the classroom without masks.

I am not sure they make much difference. Pupils could be required to carry them and wear if required (say they start coughing) but they really do get in the way of learning.
