More’s the pity @SoMuchForSummerLove 😃

Mistressiggi · 03/06/2021 18:26

If I wanted to do a LFT for any reason I would be unimpressed if my dh tried to veto it!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 03/06/2021 18:29

RCPCH has released an official statement on the children in hospital with COVID barefaced lies 'controversy'. They couldn't be clearer that parents should not worry about their children getting COVID.

I wonder what if any fallout there will be for Humza and Swinney, or whether they'll try to front it out.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 03/06/2021 18:35

They'll front it out, they don't give a shit anymore!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 03/06/2021 18:38

JL on Reporting Scotland right now talking about it, missed the beginning but will see what he has to say!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 03/06/2021 18:42

Well that was annoying as fuck; a paediatrician saying there's no meaningful numbers of kids in hospital, then the BBC wrapped up by saying 'but this is a reminder that COVID has not gone away'

That's ok then. Politicians can make shit up to give us a reminder about a fucking global pandemic.

WouldBeGood · 03/06/2021 18:53

Thanks for the summary @SoMuchForSummerLove - I just can’t watch!

It’s really crap. Politicians should be held to account for trying to scare people like this.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 03/06/2021 18:57

Wtaf, COVID will never go away! No-one seriously thinks it will any more, but with the vaccines we have now turned it into something much less serious. Surely the point of the story should be that children are not at increased risk, and the frankly disgraceful misrepresentation of data to cause unnecessary distress to parents in an attempt to manipulate behaviour. Do the BBC work for Nicola or something?

Scottishskifun · 03/06/2021 18:58

I thi k it's ffffiiing disgusting and disgraceful of them to try and scare monger like this and think they should issue a full apology and be straight!
titsintiers · 03/06/2021 19:11

Call me cynical but this seems like a convenient way for vaccination of kids to be promoted.

Bytheloch · 03/06/2021 19:21

Yes, this and a precursor to a ‘don’t travel far’ (read: outside Scotland) message for the end of school term / make people feel guilty for travelling with children when they can spread it and children can end up in hospital etc, etc. Angry

That is outrageous! No. No it's not a reminder of that. It's a reminder that our government ministers see fit to tweet such scaremongering nonsense that the medical professionals feel compelled to counter it. How do they think that's a reasonable thing for ministers to do to further whatever agenda they are trying to further?! I'm sick of it all.
Scottishskifun · 03/06/2021 19:24

I think I'm massively looking forward to our next trip to England to escape SG broken record and scare mongering for a bit! Even though its not til July!

Bytheloch · 03/06/2021 19:36

Statement from royal college of paediatricians and child health workers
@ RCPCHtweets on Twitter.
Anyone worried should feel reassured by reading their statement, just ignore anything the Health Secretary said yesterday- who’s not so keen to talk to the media today for some reasonHmm

WouldBeGood · 03/06/2021 19:45

Humza blames parents for wanting to “ignore rules” in a tweet but then rethinks it

titsintiers · 03/06/2021 19:47

He's an absolute fucking balloon of a man.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 03/06/2021 19:58

Thing is it's not ignoring the rules is it? The roadmap clearly says you can travel freely throughout level 0-2 areas.

But then, his posting of the admissions table as justification for his comments indicates that he doesn't actually understand the definition of a COVID admission despite that being his brief much less the difference between 'with COVID' and 'because of COVID', so I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't familiar with the restrictions at various levels either. Absolutely useless waste of space. He must have something really big on Sturgeon to keep getting the important roles.

WouldBeGood · 03/06/2021 20:11

I appreciate he probably said it because he’s so stupid, but the SG should have leapt in to set the record straight not to justify it.

Either that or it is deliberate scare tactics. Neither is a good look.

RaspberryCoulis · 03/06/2021 20:18

Come on now, @Y0uCann0tBeSer10us.

Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you ... ?

WouldBeGood · 03/06/2021 20:30

He changed it to take out the ignoring the rules part.

It might be The Sun, but at least Chris Musson is pressing them on this.

RaspberryCoulis · 03/06/2021 20:56

Oh another dilemma... youngest ds does drama and every so often gets casting calls for various productions. Very rarely gets anything buT did a voiceover before Christmas. Anyway, call had just come in for a "Scottish Government campaign".

Definitely going to be covid related, isn't it? Telling them not to play with their pals over the summer or something?

Bytheloch · 03/06/2021 21:16

Now I’m imagining a child catcher carriage containing ‘the covid monster’ and Mr Tumble Leitch in brightly-coloured dungarees, telting the wee ones how playing on the park can harm their friends. How to eat an ice cream between the hours of 12-3 only. How to paddle in the Loch so covid doesn’t know you’re swimming. Plus any other summer holiday activities you might irresponsibly take part in.
Stay safe, stay away from each other, kids.

Meh, I’m not even jokingHmm

WouldBeGood · 03/06/2021 21:24

@Bytheloch your image of JL/Mr Tumble has caused me far more damage than any virus 😂

WouldBeGood · 03/06/2021 21:26

@RaspberryCoulis do the government pay for their propaganda campaigns? That might sway me if I were a youngster.

RaspberryCoulis · 03/06/2021 21:49

Fee is £300. Which is a fortune when you're 12. At the moment it's just at the "would you be available " stage, not holding my breath. And yes, he'd gladly take their money.
