@rookiemere each to their own and all, but I don’t seem to know anyone who does track and trace. I was quite surprised that my friend the other night doesn’t tbh as she’s been very obedient.

And I hope you have a nice time away!

@rookiemere

But *@ResilienceWanker* if you get crushed with masonry and have to go to hospital, there is a chance you might catch covid.

I've got a Lake District weekend planned with a couple of friends. I think it's too late to bring in any decrees that would impact it, but what with that and my new found obsession with being contacted by Track and Trace, it's hard to generate much enthusiasm for future events.

But I WANT the right to make my own decision as to whether I have to go to a germy covid hospital and become a Statistic. It's elf n safety gorn maaaad, innit?!

Fingers crossed with your trip! I know what you mean re track and trace. I'm looking askance at unknown numbers and unexpected texts again before answering them, and I haven't felt like that for a few months now. And I'm glad you decided to go for DL in the end! It sounds like a good mental health thing for you - and if you compare the cost against therapy or something, it's probably not too bad Grin (not that I'm implying you need therapy, or anything... but anything that makes you feel happy and relaxed and you enjoy doing has to be worth its weight at the moment!)

rookiemere · 08/06/2021 13:52

Oh I don't have the app @WouldBeGood , my phones far too ancient for that .

And I usually don't bother filling in my details unless I have to - ridiculously one place at North Berwick wanted you to do it to go to the loo. I got caught out putting in a rubbish phone number at the pub last weekend with some friends Blush. So I guess the chances of me being identified are quite slim, but it's just a consideration to add to the list when determining if I should bother going out.

WouldBeGood · 08/06/2021 13:55

Yeah, @rookiemere I know what you mean- I think I’m just giving up until there is actual normality. It’s just all too stressful.

@ResilienceWanker re the unknown numbers- I was positively effusive when the RBS sales guy rung to check my financial affairs- once I realised who he was.

WouldBeGood · 08/06/2021 13:59

I have the app but have bollocks details in it, check out instantly if I even check in, which nowhere I have been checks.

😂 bet he was astonished @rookiemere

When do we realistically think spontanaity will return?

ResilienceWanker · 08/06/2021 14:01

I assume that as I've had to book to get into any pub or restaurant they've got my details and the time I was there, so I'm not providing them again! My phone doesn't have a QR scanner thing anyway, so anywhere I walk up to I have to use pencil and paper and my handwriting is V bad, especially numbers, so there may be the odd 7 that looks like a 1 or 9 that looks like a 0 whoops My worry is getting the Call of Doom from school saying DSs class is struck down. There's another class off at the moment- the first since December-ish. Not sure I could cope with that.

rookiemere · 08/06/2021 14:03

Oh yes our local schools are falling like flies. Thankfully DS independent school takes a slightly more relaxed view on proximity or simply has more space, but one feels it's only a matter of time.

Lockdownbear · 08/06/2021 14:13

I definitely don't have the TnT app. My nephew is convinced the App picked up her downstairs neighbour who he hadn't actually been in contact with.
I a give details only when forced to. I've been tempted to give a slightly wrong phone number but never actually done it.

WouldBeGood · 08/06/2021 14:17

I just have the check in app with dodgy details. It’s actually easier as don’t even need to click ir.

When I tested it first I checked in, then straight back out. I don’t have my number in it anyway.

So far so good with DS and school though no doubt I’ve tempted fate now. His school has a close contacts only isolation policy so fingers crossed for the next three weeks.

shouldistop · 08/06/2021 14:56

I don't have the app and I only pretend to check in if I go somewhere.

Scottishskifun · 08/06/2021 16:04

I check in but I know from DH the liklihood of being contacted is incredibly slim from his job. I think they have had to do it once in all this time and it wasn't even a cafe! 😂

Turned off the proximity one that one can go swing!

titsintiers · 08/06/2021 17:39

Having a rail about how all the planning sucks the joy out of any fun stuff.

forfucksakenett · 08/06/2021 17:40

@Lockdownbear

When do we realistically think spontanaity will return?
Another year I'd say.
Justmuddlingalong · 08/06/2021 18:21

Small rail from me about Tui. They're refusal to cancel holidays to amber countries is ripping ma bastard knittin'. Wait for the next government update or rebook for next year. You've had my 5 grand since April 2019, I think I'd like it back now.

Justmuddlingalong · 08/06/2021 18:22

*Their refusal. 🙄

riverrunning · 08/06/2021 18:39

That is bloody crap - airbnb refunded us within 10 days of the cancellation so TUI are definitely being rubbish. There's pretty much nowhere holiday-y you can go at the minute so where are you supposed to rebook to?

rookiemere · 09/06/2021 07:12

@Justmuddlingalong I could rail for hours about the whole premise of an Amber traffic light. Talk about messy messaging and get out clauses for travel companies. And who genuinely thinks people will self isolate for 10 days ? I hope you get your money back.

Grellbunt · 09/06/2021 07:58

I would definitely self isolate for ten days at home if it means avoiding hotel quarantine.

shouldistop · 09/06/2021 08:18

My 2020 & 2021 foreign holidays were both booked with Jet2 and they've been great. Refunded both times without having to phone / request etc.
We went to Cyprus with them a few years ago and they were great.

WouldBeGood · 09/06/2021 09:49

They can fuck off with any self isolating once I’m double jagged.

OP posts:
titsintiers · 09/06/2021 13:36

I would second Jet2holidays for all of the reasons mentioned. I hope you get your money back soon.

At this point getting away even next year seems unlikely. I'm not an overly pessimistic person but I just can't see it. And I desperately want/ need a holiday.
