I can't honestly say I'm happy about it all. I really can't but I do want trans people to feel safe and sound I do also think that there is no alternative party to the SNP in Scotland or the uk for me just now 🤷🏻‍♀️

forfucksakenett · 25/03/2021 19:52

Not safe and sound ...safe and I do it should have read.

littlbrowndog · 25/03/2021 19:53

I don’t feel heard handbags. As a woman

I don’t have a degree like most of my friends who don’t

I have a young family

Ms sturgeon is not a role model to me I see no connection with her at all

I feel she doesn’t connect with young families who struggle with money

I felt terrible when the nurseries weren’t open same as England. Just despair of another day spent in a flat with young kids

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 19:55

I want everyone to feel safe

littlbrowndog · 25/03/2021 19:56

Trans people in Scotland have same rights as everyone else in Scotland

They now are protected under the HCB

Women and girls are not

I want women and girls to feel safe in Scotland

littlbrowndog · 25/03/2021 19:59

Kirsty Blackman being offensive to the 200 million girls and women alive today who are victims of FGM

And some will be here in our country

So disrespectful to them

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 20:01

It’s abhorrent @littlbrowndog

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/03/2021 20:02

"You're all very partisan"

I can safely say partisan is one thing I'm not. I'm utterly politically homeless and consider the majority of politicians to be eejits, numpties and self serving.

I think SNP have made people feel heard, but I'm not sure that in reality they are heard. I see a lot of similarities with Brexit in this regard; people who were disenfranchised by mainstream politics found something that resonated, felt they would have an impact. Is it in the best interests of everyone who voted for it? Almost certainly not. Do Farage et al actually listen to people from former industrial towns in the north of England? I don't think so - but they appear to. The Tories don't either. Nor Labour.

I just don't actually think SNP are all that different, especially after years in power. They have a different hot button topic which makes people feel listened to, acknowledged, represented. But they're mostly interested in their own advancement.

Because I've been reading indy blogs recently I've noticed a lot of disenchanted pro indy voters who feel they've been sold a pup

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 25/03/2021 20:05

Is there any party or individual who you feel gets it right? @littlbrowndog
I’m sorry you’ve had a rough time, it’s really hard in house all day with kids

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 25/03/2021 20:08

I think blogs, forums are introspective and fundamentally echo chambers
A lot of blogs and forums are like minded people confirming each other opinion
Often It bears little reality to RL.

OhBuggerandArse · 25/03/2021 20:09

I don't feel safe - at work, in public, in trying to care for my students who are so damaged by trans ideology.

I don't think my kids are ok at school - their teachers do their best but the system has been degraded to the point that it is hard to see how it can be turned around.

I feel betrayed by a party that I'd committed myself to, that I'd invested time and energy and belief in.

And I really don't feel heard. But they don't care - they've decided that a different demographic is a better investment, and they've cut me loose - so anything I say to my MP, my MSP, my constituency representatives, is treated as an irrelevance.

riverrunning · 25/03/2021 20:11

I don't have any party allegiance either, although I suspect you just mean not Indy fans. That Kirsty Blackman tweet is appalling. FGM is just abuse? So no need for a misogyny bill then as that's presumably just abuse too. Awful...

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 25/03/2021 20:12

What’s to be done @OhBuggerandArse. Do you think any party or individual can adequately represent you?

forfucksakenett · 25/03/2021 20:14

@OhBuggerandArse do you mind me asking how your students are damaged by trans ideology? Do you mean brainwashed or am I way off the mark?

littlbrowndog · 25/03/2021 20:19

I don’t think so handbags

My local candidate seems good. She is snp. She is a young local person

I wish we didn’t always have independence on menu

That all the parties worked on things that really affects. Well us poorer people
Like the education gap and the affect that drugs are having on communities

Drugs are everywhere. I come in our stair and the smell of weed some days is awful

I know one girl personally that died from drugs. Left behind 3 children

I know someone personally who was strangled to death when she tried to leave her husband

Sometimes it’s like the disconnect between politicians and our country is unbrigeable

Cismyfatarse · 25/03/2021 20:19

I am desperately worried about education and why so little seems to work. If you live in some parts of Scotland you will not have outcomes that will allow even moderate success. The Curriculum for Excellence is full of woolly nonsense and is not underpinned by robust exemplification. In spite of numerous requests, we still don't really know what excellence actually is - or indeed mediocrity.

SQA have presided over a holy mess and this year is putting intolerable burdens on teachers. I have no idea why they could not collect in and mark papers for most pupils, with teacher fallback for others. My department is going to be doing twice the work of an SQA marker (I am one) for £400 when the equivalent amount of work would yield twice that.

The OECD report must be terrible or it would have been released. I can only assume it sees the reality for pupils today. 5/6 subjects in S4. A narrow and prescriptive course at Higher (I teach English which has become a box ticking exercise).

I could go on. Education is so poor and no one is taking responsibility. We were told to judge on education. Well, I do. And it is shit. And, for some, it is disgraceful.

And that is without the pandemic which left laptops stuck in warehouses and kids getting little or no teaching online.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 25/03/2021 20:22

That all the parties worked on things that really affects. Well us poorer people .Like the education gap and the affect that drugs are having on communities
I wholeheartedly agree with you
Poverty, drugs, lack of opportunities are really enduring problems. Esp when you directly see the impact daily

So sorry about your friend being killed. There are not adequate words for that, and 3 children without their mam

@forfucksakenett

I have had lesbian students, just coming out, too scared to go to uni LGBT events because of the pressure they came under to accept aggressive older transwomen as partners. I have dealt with a student’s breakdown because of the strain a sibling’s transition was putting on her family. I have had students too frightened to pick topics for their dissertations because they felt they might not be acceptable to their peers because they dealt with female experiences. And more far reaching than any of those specific issues, I’ve seen students limiting their thinking in accordance with what they think should be seen as acceptable at what should have been the most open, exploring, experimental time of their lives, and avoiding confronting the contradictions in trans ideology at the moment that they should be able to learn to test arguments and handle confrontation and disagreement productively. It breaks my heart.

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 20:28

Kirsty Blackman is a fuckwit of the highest order.

littlbrowndog · 25/03/2021 20:28

Drugs are so easy to get handbags. They are everywhere

She was 26.

Thank you for kind words

littlbrowndog · 25/03/2021 20:30

Off to master chef thread. As I am depressing myself.

To those we miss for ever 💐💐💐

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 20:31

And the “lesbians are transphobic if they want date men” thing is just awful. It does help to show DS how ludicrous the whole premise is. M

I’m old enough to remember how hard gay and lesbian rights were fought for, and I cannot stand by while they are taken away.
