It is relevant as it helps me to judge if people are honest straight forward individuals.

Particularly important if they wish me to vote for them.

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 15:41

Their being married is relevant with regard to transparency in government.

You need to know about the state of somebody's marriage before you vote for them? I'll be honest that I find that a bit bizarre. Each to their own I suppose.
ATieLikeRichardGere · 25/03/2021 15:45

Very normal in the USA though. Probably quite normal here too but less explicit.

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 15:45

Ok, I have morals 🤷🏻‍♀️

And I don’t like being duped.

Or having my concerns dismissed as conspiratorial tosh, or deliberately misunderstood.

Blurberoo · 25/03/2021 15:48

It would be a real shame if this thread gets pulled because it descends into a bunfight.

I do wonder why NS waited till she was 40 before marrying PM. Might have been better all round to have kept it casual and then there would have been no glaring conflicts.

Really interesting contrast with Ruth and even Boris.

forfucksakenett · 25/03/2021 15:49

I'm sorry I'm not deliberately misunderstanding. I genuinely fail to see how the state of their marriage is anything to do with you and how you wanting to know about them means you have morals. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's not about the state of their marriage! It's about whether they are misrepresenting themselves for political purposes, in which case that has a bearing one how one assesses them politically.
WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 15:51

I’ll leave them to it @Blurberoo

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 25/03/2021 15:52

Descends into a bun fight? A bun fight a fair few have relished
It’s not a descent it’s been in plain sight all the time

OhBuggerandArse · 25/03/2021 15:53

Does it really have no impact on your assessment of Boris Johnson that Carrie Symonds had to call the police on him? It does on mine (which was very negative in any case). And it would if similar was confirmed about any other leader.

OhBuggerandArse · 25/03/2021 15:55

I should correct that - she didn't call the police, it was a neighbour.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 25/03/2021 15:56

Belief in or the pursuit of salacious gossip doesn’t equate to I have morals🤷‍♀️
It just equates to being judgemental and hiding it under faux morality

Yes of course. That was widely reported in the media. Domestic abuse is illegal. I'm not aware that NS and PM are in an abusive relationship? Is that the rumour?

Reading between the lines on this thread that is far from the rumour and instead the suggestion is that it's a sexless marriage of convenience type thing. That's not in any way the same. Many marriages would fall into that category and that would be a wholly private matter.

Grubby.

Unless of course I've got the wrong end of the stick and there is some illegality in the rumoured SI / Interdict?

OhBuggerandArse · 25/03/2021 16:01

It's hardly judgemental to identify the degree of trust one can have in a person as a relevant issue in a context where a political leader is asking us to trust them with our votes and with the government of our country.

forfucksakenett · 25/03/2021 16:02

I am kind of impressed though @WouldBeGood that you've the balls to admit out loud that someone else's marriage is your concern. I'm nosey myself but that's next level Grin

forfucksakenett · 25/03/2021 16:02

Someone's going to have to give me a clue ... what about her marriage makes her untrustworthy?

OhBuggerandArse · 25/03/2021 16:04

Lying about it.
MuffinsandBrownies · 25/03/2021 16:05

Faux morality ?

Well, given the SNP has sold itself on a platform of being ‘better’, sanctimonious sound bites, the treatment of Joanna Cherry by NS and her team doesn’t even meet the threshold of basic decency.
.

OhBuggerandArse · 25/03/2021 16:06

@forfucksakenett re. the rumour(s), read further between the lines.

Joanna Cherry has tweeted that she is taking time off due to ill health.
WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 16:14

I saw that about Joanna Cherry. I hope she’s ok. I have really appreciated her speaking out on Brexit and for women

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 25/03/2021 16:17

@TheShadowyFeminist have you turned up to explain why the people are the problem. Given your everyone else is a problem post⬇️

I saw this on twitter & I think this sums up where we currently are:
Postcards of Wisdom - Death of a free society by a political party in epitome: 'The People Are The Problem

Oh I see,the people are the problem
Would that be the people who vote SNP
The people who gave 55% approval rating
The people who are not consumed by conspiracy theories and dark muttering
So it’s people,it’s not you. Aye, ok then

It really doesn’t play out well, being so blinkered. So resolute and inflexible in your opinion. So disparaging of others
