Isn't it odd that not one single person has had any kind of punishment for anything. Nothing. No job loss. Suspension. Nothing.

Yup. I can't understand it - at the bare minimum Evans and McKinnon should be history as both knew full well she wasn't independent. Others look seriously comprimised.

But yet they retain the FM's full confidence. As does Leaky McSieve. So genuine question - if you were completely innocent (as the FM purports to be) would you not be furious and have lost faith in these people? Let's take her at face value, the conversation on the 29th wasn't very clear - let's say maybe Aberdein wasn't all that clear because he thought the other party would fill her in given the other party is clearly the person accused of telling him the complainant's name. And maybe that didn't happen. So maybe she really didn't know properly and it was "just a chat". Everything else has happened behind her back, she really thought this was protecting women, etc etc.

If all of that were true, would you not be absolutely fuming in her position? They've almost cost her her political career (and may do so yet) but she does nothing.

If she wants to convince people she's above this unholy mess then she needs to clean house.

Reading a bit more of the text, because this decision seems so completely at odds with what we already know, it does sound very much like he can't prove she lied, so rules that there was no breach. Not quite the complete exoneration that's being portrayed, but that won't matter. NS will get her headlines saying she was cleared and most people won't bother to read into further.

TheShadowyFeminist · 22/03/2021 18:44

All those redactions from Salmond's statement make perfect sense now, don't they?

The stench coming from the SNP right now is horrendous.

Yup, it's pretty overpowering tbh.

sessell · 22/03/2021 18:45

Re. people taking the rap. Hamilton is pretty clear that LL lied and told Salmond's team the name of a complainer. Combined with the bizarre RCS letter trying to explain/cover that up, that also named a complainer (I can't help thinking that may be one and same person) I can't imagine we won't hear more of that.
Also remember in his evidence to the Inquiry, Salmond did not name NS as part of the conspiracy. He did name others. I'd expect more on that too.
Hamilton's cope was very narrow. Sturgeon will survive for now. But there has always been more to this scandal than was in the remit of these inquiries and now they are out of the way (almost) I'd expect more will come out.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2021 18:52

Yes I was just reading 4.21 which essentially says Aberdein's story of being told the name of a complainant is credible.

I don't think the RCS letter is from/about the same complainant. Putting everything together I think that letter is from/about either B or D (court case letters) - one of the civil servant complainants who was not one of the original two.

Happinessisawarmcervix · 22/03/2021 19:00

I think Salmond has proof of his claim that there was a deal done along the lines that if a fake lurid allegation was made, there would be a quid pro quo (which has come to pass).

He can’t release that to full effect without naming a complainer.

I suppose the question for him is, is it worth breaching the court order and taking the consequences to get that proof to the public?

(If it exists. But Craig Murray also says he’s seen it.)

Happinessisawarmcervix · 22/03/2021 19:06

@Blurberoo

That’s weird- looks like Bridges for Indy Twitter account has been deleted. Wonder if the purge has begun in earnest!
He was dropping very heavy hints about names, wasn’t he? Wonder if he’s had a visit.
StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2021 19:12

Yes, there were some fairly unsubtle comments about one earlier. However the timing looks more like "I don't want to see twitter any more"

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/03/2021 19:16

Well, all that wasn't entirely unexpected although unwelcome.

sessell · 22/03/2021 19:21

Yes @statistically I agree. My one and the same was referring to a different angle.

TheShadowyFeminist · 22/03/2021 19:24

Alyn Smith tweet.

This is a sitting SNP MP. One who has no problem with his groupies harassing Joanna Cherry.

God that’s crass. I used to like Smith, in his “leave a light on for us” period. But his “Daddy Bear” stuff is just creepy.

Yep I saw that. That's my MP. It's a fucking embarrassment.
sessell · 22/03/2021 19:26

The fake lurid claim is just too big not to come out somewhere, sometime.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2021 19:27

Ah I see sessell. Yes, you are correct I believe.

Alyn Smith is an eejit. That's being polite.

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/03/2021 19:29

It's also the group that had complaints from female members of harassment from the young "male" members. It's all good though as another poster's aunt works there and says new membership is up.

If we're referring to the same one then I think it's creeping out. I'm seeing plenty of references to it certainly, meaningless if you don't know but make total sense once you do IYSWIM.

I'm wondering if we might be heading for parliamentary priviledge v2.0. Or a publication from abroad perhaps?

Happinessisawarmcervix · 22/03/2021 19:29

He’s getting a lot of push-back in his comments. Good to see.

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/03/2021 19:31

And the video of him telling a women basically that she was on their list for being abusive.

I wish I knew what you were talking about Sad

Happinessisawarmcervix · 22/03/2021 19:32

Is there any Westminster MP who would dare the negative PR of “naming a victim of attempted rape” though? Probably career-ending for a QC....

Yes, I joined in saw that. I expect he'll delete it shortly. Wankstain.

Is there a victim of attempted rape? There was an alleged victim.
