So many redactions

I am disappointed but kinda thought this would happen

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2021 17:17

I don't think Salmond is going to take this lying down.

littlbrowndog · 22/03/2021 17:22

This is our country

What the heck has happened to it

I feel like I live somewhere where the truth is nebulous

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 22/03/2021 17:22

Just watching Sturgeon from Edinburgh, she keeps saying Hamilton is independent. I think she thinks we all came up the Clyde on a water biscuit. Independent my arse!

fandabbydoozy · 22/03/2021 17:24

What can Salmond do? If he has more up his sleeve then there will be questions about why he didn't disclose that sooner.

There's fuck all any one can do except ensure both votes are NOT SNP

Beepbeeprichie · 22/03/2021 17:24

A QC appointed by the snp to look at a remit set out by the snp find the leader of the snp not guilty. Who would have guessed it

noego · 22/03/2021 17:27

Can you imagine this woman on Dragons Den looking for investment in her "beloved" country.

The renditions of "I'm out" would be unanimous.

the only way the Scots get Scotland back is to vote her out on 6th May.

Cos at the moment it is Sturgeonland not Scotland.

Bytheloch · 22/03/2021 17:28

Thoughts on the vote of no confidence and committee report delivering tomorrow? Salmond would have to release anything before then. It’s literally the last opportunity before everything wraps on Wednesday.

noego · 22/03/2021 17:31

The VoNC is a foregone conclusion. The Greens haven't got the bottle!!

SempreSuiGeneris · 22/03/2021 17:32

The Kingdom of Strathclyde Independence Party has done the summary read so we can all go back to debating apostrophes (pretty sure it is s' as the residents are plural).

"she says she forgot, that’s very unlikely, almost unbelievable, but not impossible, and because I can’t see any reason why she’d lie about it, I’m choosing to believe her."

"Also seems she lied about the nature of the 2nd April meeting as nobody brings their lawyers to a party meeting, but she didn’t take any action items away from it (a successful outcome for any meeting!) so apparently that makes it fine not to tell the civil service about it(!!)" .

Damning with faint praise. This will run and run for the next 7 weeks now and every time she opens her mouth if she remains FM.

Should I take the minutes FM? Do you need reminding FM? Should I bring a witness and a chaperone etc etc etc.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2021 17:32

Yeah the VONC is pointless theatre really.

I could be wrong, but I don't think this smell is going away. It'll delight the #IstandwithNicola brigade, but I think too many people are now aware of too much of the wider story. I guess the polls will tell...

Blurberoo · 22/03/2021 17:34

Look at what she was willing to do to Salmond BEFORE things got this far! He might be best for him, personally, to keep his head down, although I really really hope that he has got something up his sleeve.

SempreSuiGeneris · 22/03/2021 17:35

The Greens have already grabbed the fig leaf and committed to not supporting VoNC. Labour waiting for Committee Report. Will be interesting to see the wording.

WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 17:36

That reasoning is ridiculous, @SempreSuiGeneris!

Is that a quote from the findings?

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2021 17:37

I posted the paragraph which roughly translates to that about an hour ago @wouldbegood

SempreSuiGeneris · 22/03/2021 17:38

I think the proceedings and what has come out so far give a certain level of protection to Salmond. The potential to reopen the can of worms by responding to him further is quite large.

Viviennemary · 22/03/2021 17:40

So basically she got away with it.

SempreSuiGeneris · 22/03/2021 17:40

It's an interpolation but in line with the actual wording afaics.

Awaiting the journalistic hot takes. They've been sharpening pencils for a while now...

snowcoveredcampsies · 22/03/2021 17:44

@Viviennemary

So basically she got away with it.
Or was found to be innocent?
WouldBeGood · 22/03/2021 17:47

Thanks @StatisticallyChallenged

We’re really no further forward it seems.

A series of unlikely events

fandabbydoozy · 22/03/2021 17:49

she wasn't found to be innocent, that's not what its saying.

It can't be proven that she was lying when she said she couldn't remember

Doesn't mean she wasn't lying though.

Its all about proof really.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2021 17:52

@WouldBeGood

Thanks *@StatisticallyChallenged*

We’re really no further forward it seems.

A series of unlikely events

Personally I was expecting a whitewash from all reports, I'm surprised the committee has come up with anything. I also had a fairly strong feeling which way Hamilton was going when they went so hard on trying to discredit the committee.

Even if you can, somehow, argue that she didn't quite definitely breach the code (mostly on the "I believe her" basis) there is a wider issue of the way SNP and scotgov have behaved over this and that not a single person has lost their job. The stench coming from the SNP right now is horrendous.

anon444877 · 22/03/2021 18:05

Yes perhaps both Salmond and Sturgeon have had the benefit of the doubt on what can be proved. Agree 100 percent with statistically, no reason for the SNP to be proud of the myriad governmental failures on display here.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/03/2021 18:11

I think you're right here actually - there's a distinct parallel

Both have been found not guilty on a kind of "beyond reasonable doubt" basis (him in court, her in an inquiry that was clearly working on a high level of proof requirement). But both have behaved poorly, and both have shown themselves to be unsuited to leading a country.
