You can still watch this on the Scottish parliament page just make sure you have selected committee room 1

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/03/2021 14:26

So the complainers and AS wanted arbitration but they went the other way?

TokyoSushi · 03/03/2021 14:27

Perfect, thank you!

QuentinWinters · 03/03/2021 14:28

I'm not Scottish so don't have avery clear view of Salmond/Sturgeon
However I think Sturgeons version of events (massive cock up) is more likely to be true than Salmonds (conspiracy against me).
I also think its so hard because of the assumption Salmond is innocent (I know he was found not guilty). If he did do something untoward then he would know who the complaints were from without being told, yet the case seems to be saying he must have been told.
I can see I'm in a minority but I think Salmond is a narcissist using the courts to manipulate, knowing how hard it is to prove a conspiracy theory untrue

daisyfraser · 03/03/2021 14:29

Nice one, Andy (never thought I'd say those words)
Rebuffing the mockery of Sturgeon over Murdo Fraser's painstaking efforts

Graffitiqueen · 03/03/2021 14:29

@WouldBeGood

Yes. But if you can’t remember, you cannot contradict those who can.
It's funny isn't it that NS has poor recollection of that meeting with AS, until she remembers it better than the 3 men who corroborated AS's statements and accuses them of lying. Hmm
WaxOnFeckOff · 03/03/2021 14:31

Also on BBC Scotland

StarryEyeSurprise · 03/03/2021 14:31

Two of them weren't even there though. Therefore, it doesn't stand up as evidence.

Excellent point. Selective memory is a wonderful thing, not a skill I have.
kurtrussellsbeard · 03/03/2021 14:35

@sessell

So now it was all because NS was protecting her friend AS. Wow! Margaret Mitchell has been very good in this session.
I don't think we're watching the same thing.
ATieLikeRichardGere · 03/03/2021 14:35

It could be a cock up but with some malicious actors involved as well I suppose. Rather than an organised conspiracy from start to finish. It is messy.

Sturgeon doesn’t seem to remember very much at all at times.

Orcadianrythyms · 03/03/2021 14:35

I don't think this has made things much clearer. I still think Salmond is a odious misogynist and Sturgeon not clear on events. I find this forum weird, particularly the hatred of Sturgeon who although I've raged at some decisions has provided leadership and compassion during the pandemic beyond any other government figure. I don't post often now cause it's all a bit 'Us for Them' and I don't see voices that reflect my experience.

Can't believe the vitriol against Sturgeon here whilst Salmond gets a much easier ride. He was patronising, awful on Friday with his disdain of women all over his answers. Not even prepared to apologise when offered, taking the chairs 'guidance' and showing his true feelings of woman getting above their station and not rolling over.

sessell · 03/03/2021 14:35

From Glenn Campbell @GlennBBC

Alex Salmond’s office has just issued a statement saying he has lodged a formal complaint with the Scottish government’s top civil servant about the official who has been accused of (and has denied) disclosing the name of a complainer to Mr Salmond’s former chief of staff

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/03/2021 14:36

The have both submitted statements to the committee and at least one has indicated they are willing to attend under oath.

Clutching at straws. Sturgeon was asked if she had any corroboration and after about 5 minutes of waffle, the answer was obviously no.

sessell · 03/03/2021 14:37

@kurtrussellsbeard fair point. I was half-watching at that point and picked it up wrong.

QuentinWinters · 03/03/2021 14:38

I can totally believe that NS would forget things as she must be having to keep abreast of so many things. No way would I remember everything from all the meetings/emails I deal with and I'm not running a country.
I'm actually more suspicious of people who claim to remember every detail and their version of events is The Truth and cannot be deviated from

@Orcadianrythyms you're absolutely correct. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It's the most misogynistic section of Mumsnet. It's quite awful. I do think there is an element of those who shout the loudest though. Lots of knowledgable posters in amongst the offensive dross who manage, even if they don't support the FM and the SNP, not to be completely appalling.

Dinnafashyersel · 03/03/2021 14:39

Anyone else see all the pictures of Nicola wearing her mask and having it calling to mind something entirely different from FACTS? (not that I can remember them even if she bamboozles me with tartan face coverings all day long).

Every time someone says Hands Face Space I see ebullient Boris in Mr Tumble mode and my public spiritedness kicks in.

Sorry honestly got my head in a bucket cos the whole slow motion train wreck is horrifying. Even Dishi isn't diverting me sufficiently. Is Kate doing a Scottish response?

kittykat22 · 03/03/2021 14:42

@Orcadianrythyms yes, this!

This is broadly how I feel. I thought AS was quite awful on Friday; I'd forgotten how much he loves the sound of his own voice, was filled with disdain for others, etc. Yet he was fawned over on Twitter for 'schooling' those questioning him.

Meanwhile NS is berated from morning to night on this forum every day; she can never do anything right, even when she does what people want it's tied into some ulterior motive. And any attempt at trying to 'school' the questioners had been shouted down.

I do think there's a subconscious element of 'how dare she try to lead while also being a woman' going on sometimes.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/03/2021 14:43

I do completely agree with what she'd just said — a lot is done in her name where she isn't the actual driving force behind it, and she has to take responsibility for it.

Here, something's happened that she should probably have got a firmer hold on earlier, but I don't think it was obvious it was going to go so badly wrong.

Forgot the quote 🙄
TokyoSushi · 03/03/2021 14:44

I'm starting to wonder if this is going to come to anything in the end...

Same point from last night, if she doesn't decide to resign, who is going to make her?

It might end up being 'inconclusive' in the end.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/03/2021 14:45

I feel a bit sorry for her really, because I think that other people were doing their jobs poorly to make it get to this point.
