So following from another thread, this is to talk about our aspirational holiday plans and trips for the coming months.

We have a few things planned, but all cancellable mostly with Scottish back ups. So keen to get away somewhere.

@emmathedilemma we have Premier Inn booked 16/17 April to go down and see relatives in England. We don't need to cancel until 3 days in advance so will see how it's going nearer the time.

It was only £35 per night so not a costly option. Hoping to have the Christmas Day we missed out on .

@emmathedilemma My husband is on a diet and says if he gets to a certain weight by then .... then we can go. That's the only deciding factor. He clearly takes the rules very seriously Wink

emmathedilemma · 03/03/2021 16:30

lol @hilbil21! I'm just at the point where I'm willing to make my own risk assessment. The parents will have had both their vaccine doses by then, i might even have had my first, I work from home, can food shop online, I hardly see anyone else all week and my extended household buddy gets tested twice a week through work so the chances of me taking anything with me are slim / non-existent!

Coquohvan · 03/03/2021 19:51

The govuk has said the 17 May date for International travel will not take place.

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 21:25

Have they @Coquohvan? What have they said?

Coquohvan · 03/03/2021 22:03

Here’s a link, will this mean a five week review I wonder?

Thanks.

Still hope though...

Coquohvan · 03/03/2021 23:03

🤞

rookiemere · 04/03/2021 09:45

Bum, I hadn't realised that hotels were unlikely to open on 12th April in England. Do you think that includes Premier Inns - stupid question really- but they have no communal areas ?

All self catering left near relatives is super expensive or shack like.

OP posts:
Coquohvan · 04/03/2021 10:56

Roookiemere I just heard it was International Travel.

This is for 12/4 UK domestic holidays away from home permitted, with self-contained accommodation able to reopen for use by members of the same household
Of course it’s a UK tier.

rookiemere · 04/03/2021 11:24

Phew I've had it clarified on another thread that English Premier Inns are likely to be open, but sadly no breakfast buffet Confused. May not tell DS this in advance or he'll refuse to come.

OP posts:
emmathedilemma · 04/03/2021 12:10

this makes my heart weep a little @rookiemere isn't the whole point of staying in a Premier Inn the breakfast buffet?!?

rookiemere · 04/03/2021 12:25

Indeed @emmathedilemma mind you when we went last year it was no longer a buffet because of coronavirus restrictions, so was much less enjoyable anyway as unable to stuff pockets with nutella .

Just read on BBC News Cyprus will allow UK people with 2 dozes of the
Vaccine from May.

rookiemere · 05/03/2021 08:59

Well it turns out that Premier Inns in England aren't opening until May, so it seems a bit premature to be jetting off to Cyprus. Wonder if the Scottish quarantine hotels for all will still be running then. I'm so desperate to get away I did consider building it in as a post holiday 2 week detox .

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 05/03/2021 09:05

Oh that’s a bummer about the Premier Inns @rookiemere.

I’m just going to fly from and to England first chance I get if they keep the quarantine hotels here. I can much more safely quarantine at home.

How will they prove they've been vaccinated?

Coquohvan · 05/03/2021 19:56

Dunno the article didn’t mention that part. Suppose TBA.

anon444877 · 09/03/2021 11:26

i've booked a week in Northumberland 30 April on - it'll be a weekend only for me and the kids and then DH will stay on for walks the rest of the time as it's near his birthday anyway and he likes long hikes.

it was the last week they had until mid Sept! Glad I'm going somewhere this year

rookiemere · 09/03/2021 11:32

Hurrah @anon444877 at least somewhere is booked.
I'm a bit put out thus morning because Easyjet has already released next summer's flights meaning they're going to be pricey if we have to change this summer's to next years closer to the time if it's not feasible. TBH I'd go ahead and change now - think chance of us going to Majorca this August without having to pay for covid tests at each end is not high - but other family DM and DH are more gung ho than I am.

OP posts:
anon444877 · 09/03/2021 12:51

no I'm hoping for October or Christmas or both. I like being optimistic but there's no way we'll get 2 doses of a covid vaccine by early July. Still facing a lack of reality in some quarters though!

WouldBeGood · 09/03/2021 12:55

Christmas away would be great!

anon444877 · 09/03/2021 12:58

was contemplating a snowy trip, they are booking up fast though! It's so hard to make a good holiday decision when there's no certainty.

rookiemere · 09/03/2021 13:15

I changed our Lisbon May flights to a long weekend in Dubrovnik for DH and I , first weekend of October.
I am hoping that will be a sweet spot between schools going back and case numbers going up for winter - if that happens.

OP posts:
Coquohvan · 09/03/2021 19:59

A friend off mines just had her Hoseasons booking c/x for 12/4. Bummer.
