So following from another thread, this is to talk about our aspirational holiday plans and trips for the coming months.

We have a few things planned, but all cancellable mostly with Scottish back ups. So keen to get away somewhere.

@rookiemere my view is tainted by years of holidays in the highlands and outer Hebrides as a child. Not for me 😃

I am not a fan of the Great Outdoors

shouldistop · 01/03/2021 08:46

Yeah, there's no way the uk government are going to ban Scots from entering.

anon444877 · 01/03/2021 08:51

Not outdoorsy here, I hate sand and terrified of unidentified sea creatures and stepping on squelchy things but my dc and dog love it much more than I hate it...

I looked up a place that went to the bother of advertising in the Sunday paper and their availability is one week in July which will be gone by the time we decide, argh!

Coquohvan · 01/03/2021 11:44

Agree Jet2 have refunded a few holidays we’d book for last year no problems. Just booked for the canaries with them for November this year and April ‘22.
We fancy hiring a motor home last minute if things open up here in Scotland with flights and tunnel still closed.

emmathedilemma · 01/03/2021 12:43

My May trip up north has been postponed again until 2022 :(
We've just booked a girls weekend away in July but that's in England and they all live there so if I'm not allowed to travel there will be tears and tantrums. On second thoughts, if we're still not allowed into England by July I'll be going anyway!! I haven't booked anything else, I've got so many friends and family I haven't seen for over a year that I'd normally spend weekends with that I'll be happy to potter round the county to see them when we can, or have them visit me.

Icannever · 01/03/2021 17:33

If anyone’s looking for an interesting option in Fife (😂) this place looks pretty nice, cool wee beach huts with hot tubs and an outdoor heated pool. Was getting pretty booked up when I looked though

rookiemere · 01/03/2021 17:44

@Icannever can't see a link as does sound good.

We've booked Jura with another couple in the final week of May. Desperate for it to happen, but suspect Edinburgh will be on tier three with none of us allowed out, however low our numbers.

theotherfossilsister · 01/03/2021 18:03

All suggestions above sound amazing

@Eightytwenty I really love Forest Holidays at Strathyre, so many things to do and beautiful scenery.

my DH has fished out some article about the EU proposing vaccine passports and last covid test dates this morning so we've gotten no further forward on the back up options.

It's looking like a Summer holiday in the local park here! Again :)

rookiemere · 02/03/2021 11:48

Just book your back up @anon444877 before nothing is left. If foreign trips get sorted out, he doesn't even need to know about it.

OP posts:
anon444877 · 02/03/2021 11:53

I'm chuckling - you're right, this is what I must do. He has procrastinating form on holidays and this article will be the excuse to do nothing for several more weeks.

rookiemere · 03/03/2021 09:18

Anyone now thinking they might take a punt on an Easter weekend in Scotland? I cancelled the cottage we've booked, but now wondering
if they might end up falling in line with the English opening dates from 12th April.

OP posts:
anon444877 · 03/03/2021 09:26

Can you actually book them on booking? I'd be very tempted. Do you think a meal in a pub over Easter or a n other restaurant is still an unachievable dream?

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 09:26

@rookiemere I am tempted now you’ve put the idea in my head!

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/03/2021 09:26

I have a booking for a couple of days the week beginning 19th April which I don't have to pay until the week before. I'm not cancelling yet just in case.

weegiemum · 03/03/2021 09:35

We have a holiday house (well, we lived in it for 10 years first) in the Outer Hebrides. Had hoped to get there at Easter but that's no5 going to happen now, I don't think.

Dh has managed to get 3 weeks off in July so we'll be going there then, didn't want to risk booking anything abroad this year. Just got to hope the midges aren't too bad!

rookiemere · 03/03/2021 11:09

I actually need to check our holidays and ensure we have the budget to support them. Booked quite a few on the basis we may not be able to go on some of them and may need to scale back now.

OP posts:
emmathedilemma · 03/03/2021 13:07

If we can go anywhere at Easter I'm going to see family! To be honest, even if England is open and Scotland isn't I might still go....ooh rebellion!!
