You need to come over to the railing thread Max.

jabbathebutt · 13/02/2021 19:24

Linda Bauld can GTF

Is her role just to scare / annoy us via the media or does she have a role advising the SG and influencing their decisions?

Or is it just the dentist who does that?

jabbathebutt · 13/02/2021 19:26

I'm vulnerable according to my GP. That same GP says I won't be vaccd until September at the earliest (first jag)

StarryEyeSurprise · 13/02/2021 19:32

@MaxNormal

This thread has really changed tone, I'm not sure what's happened Sad
Och it hasn't but yes back to schools- it's looking good for the 22nd.

Yes it has.

Assume you mean the same guy with a masters in public health from Harvard
MaxNormal · 13/02/2021 19:42

Och it hasn't

It has though. Don't gaslight me.

latortugafeliz · 13/02/2021 19:43

Can I ask (because I genuinely want to know, and hopefully this doesn't open a can of worms), does anyone know what the legal position of Scotland policing the border with England? What do they intend to do? If someone were driving up and are resident in Scotland are they going to be made to quarantine? And how is the check going to be set up, on the motorway? Confused

LetItGoGo · 13/02/2021 19:46

I'll let you know latortugafeliz, when I do my Thelma and Louise.😉

LetItGoGo · 13/02/2021 19:49

Starry why do you think the Scottish Government gas been unable to contain infection in Glasgow?

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 13/02/2021 19:50

@MaxNormal

Well, what do you want it to be like? Say whatever you want to say, nobody is in charge 🤷🏻‍♀️
kurtrussellsbeard · 13/02/2021 20:00

@MaxNormal

It has changed tone because people with differing viewpoints started posting on it as well. If you want an echo chamber I can recommend the railing thread. A fair bit of disinformation but all like minded souls with similar viewpoints.

It's really disheartening, but typical of Scotsnet, that folk with opposing ideas aren't welcome on general threads.

WouldBeGood · 13/02/2021 20:03

I just wanted to feel what I feel without being told how that should be.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/02/2021 20:03

Oh not this again. If you think the people with a "different" opinion don't spout just as much disinformation then you are sadly mistaken and you can give up with the echo chamber now as well.

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/02/2021 20:04

There are a variety of reasons why containment in Glasgow has proved tricky I would imagine.

  • several hospitals
  • several care homes
  • very large immigrant population with multi- generational living
  • poverty
  • general low socio economic status (maybe feeling forced into work with symptoms or financially struggling to isolate)

Probably lots more. Scot Gov certainly could take responsibility for the hospitals and the care homes but if that was an easy problem to solve then nobody would have hospital transmission.

WouldBeGood · 13/02/2021 20:05

But I suppose that does acknowledge a change in tone after many lovely helpful threads.

And @kurtrussellsbeard I’ve both agreed and disagreed with you on these threads

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/02/2021 20:08

There may well be a change in tone but I haven't noticed it because I've not been here for most of them.

You're maybe the third or fourth to comment on the change of tone in a negative way but I haven't seen any negative posts or anyone being nasty or rude so it seems weird to me like the only possible thing you can be annoyed at is that there are now some people on the thread who support the SNP, don't hate NS and broadly agree with some of the restrictions.

LetItGoGo · 13/02/2021 20:09

Thanks for your thoughtful answer kurt.

I suppose I was fed up with Starry's pivoting against England. ( The government of course!)
I know this ends with threats keep the border closed to ordinary people.

LetItGoGo · 13/02/2021 20:10

At that point having failed once more to "Let it go", I'll bow out!

kurtrussellsbeard · 13/02/2021 20:15

But elsewhere in the thread there have been many, many instances of folk running on here to very quickly point out how shit the Scottish Government is as well. Yesterday was a smashing example when people started to compliment the vaccine rollout a poster or two jumped on immediately to point out that in fact SG were still actually behind. It is what it is. Folk don't agree and that's fine but when there are continual snidey comments about the thread not being the same or the tone having changed it smacks a bit of trying to keep an open chat thread for an exclusive wee clique of likeminded posters.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/02/2021 20:24

And so what?

Is it not true that SG are still behind or do you only want like minded people posting stuff you think is appropriate? You can't have your cake and eat it. Or maybe you can...? folk who found the threads supportive and funny are allowed to say the tone has changed and move on no?

Anyway, I'll also leave you to it - but then maybe that's what I always do?

Lockdownbear · 13/02/2021 20:24

Gawd knows but I want to know how they plan to deal with people going to and from Scotland for work, including Construction workers, truck drivers and what the proposals are for the people in the border areas who frequently shop on the other side.

More questions than answers.

I guess it's a bit try before you buy independence.

Cismyfatarse · 13/02/2021 20:26

At the risk of changing the topic I went to B&Q today.

Who knew it could be an afternoon out? We bought little but thoroughly investigated the whole place as a sort of holiday: day trip to the MDF wardrobe section; night out in the bathroom area; quick tour round lights and lampshades.

With that, the Tesco click and collect and a trip to the dentist I feel like I have had a week in Barbados.

@WaxOnFeckOff if you read what I wrote then that's exactly what I said - people can post what they like - I'm not policing that or attempting to. Im not the one going on about changes in tone or the thread not being what it used to be. I'm pointing out that people have every right to post opposing viewpoints.

Yes of course they are allowed to lament the loss of whatever it is that they had. If exclusivity is what you're after, however, then I would suggest changing the thread title to reflect that.
