There we go. I knew someone would be along to poke at my positivity!

kurtrussellsbeard · 17/02/2021 17:10

I can't even get on to the uft Facebook page anymore. Does that mean I'm banned? It doesn't come up in a search.

MaxNormal · 17/02/2021 17:13

Here's a for once quite sensible article from the Guardian, scientists being very clear that we're not going to be able to aim for zero covid and that a closed borders approach is pointless. It's a quite optimistic view though.

Scottishskifun · 17/02/2021 17:13

@kurtrussellsbeard sorry! I think it's great they caught up with first jabs after a slow and questionable start just need to keep momentum going and with second jabs 😊

Must be! You lucky person. I can't help myself from time to time.
kurtrussellsbeard · 17/02/2021 17:25

@Scottishskifun that's quite alright Grin

kurtrussellsbeard · 17/02/2021 17:25

No me too @StarryEyeSurprise I'm quite sad I can't get on.

Ha! Well done. Badge of honour, I think (probably!). I've forgotten my login details to FB and my phone has booted me off following a software update, so I'm being forced to go FB cold turkey. I only used it for stalking anyway. Can't say I'm missing the angst and outrage really.

I noticed Scotland is now pretty much level with the rest of the UK for vaccinations. And even 2nd doses have been increasing over the past few days. The last couple of weeks have been super impressive, I have to say. The slowdown in production is annoying just when everyone had got into the swing! Hope it gets going quickly once the vaccines are back.

fluffyugg · 17/02/2021 17:40

Yes it's great we've caught up and hopefully we'll see a bigger impact of vaccines on case numbers soon. 1000 today isn't good although positivity rate was only 5.2%

You must be banned like my Dd. They didn't let her join just blocked her.
Sootess · 17/02/2021 18:06

@AudacityOfHope

Ooh just checked Travelling Tabby and % of people vaccinated in Fife has more than doubled in the last week. We're no longer bottom of the table, hurray!
Does Fife not have a younger population? Would explain why they were lagging behind % wise if they've been held back and made to go down the age groups at roughly same pace as elsewhere
AudacityOfHope · 17/02/2021 18:22

Oh maybe @Sootess I'm not really sure. That could explain it if that's right.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/02/2021 18:25

I don't watch the daily lecture, but has anyone challenged and got a proper answer as to what exactly and specifically they are doing to combat the community transmission numbers given that they seem to be the magic key?

I mean the entire country is locked up and track and trace numbers are very low and yet the daily "case" count just stubbornly sits there.

WouldBeGood · 17/02/2021 18:47

Quite @WaxOnFeckOff

I’d like to know that and also what contingency plans in the NHS are in place for any similar situation. Given the failings exposed by this shambles.

AudacityOfHope · 17/02/2021 18:47

I don't know if it was asked today, I doubt it. I want to know if it's hospital transmission, or even if a decent percentage of it is, because if it is then what is this all for?

goodname · 17/02/2021 18:48

@WaxOnFeckOff no one ever seems to ask any sensible questions like that but they probably not be answered anyway.
I think they were asked a while back several times and they just swerved them as usual

blowinahoolie · 17/02/2021 18:48

I was also waiting to see who would bite first😆

Sounds like trolling to me
goodname · 17/02/2021 18:51

It’s kind of obvious where it’s coming from though isn’t it? I’ve mentioned before my husbands gran was in hospital for kidney infections and she caught COVID but was sent home to pass it on to her four carers plus my husbands parents (70s) who look after her. Then those carers will pass it on to all the other people they care for.
They need a system for releasing people from hospital and for preventing spread in hospital. Old fashioned quarantine hospitals perhaps? Who knows

blowinahoolie · 17/02/2021 18:54

That's right, having a different point of view is trolling of course🤔

Agree that must be a big part of it and keeping the rest of society locked up achieves what then?

Sick of the ordinary citizens here baring the brunt when they can't get their own house in order. Stupid stuff like DH needed to go for a covid test before a procedure and DS and I had to quarantine after his negative test along with him until he came home. However, DS and I weren't tested. We could have had covid but DH wasn't infected yet. And then he comes home and could have caught it but we can all go about our daily business, including him going to work outside the home with no testing.

Trolling is defined as creating discord on the Internet by starting quarrels or upsetting people by posting inflammatory or off-topic messages in an online community. Basically, a social media troll is someone who purposely says something controversial in order to get a rise out of other users.

Nothing to do with disagreeing but everything to do with baiting.

Not accusing anyone, just providing the definition.
