Blaming the UK Government or Scottish Government isn't going to make the current situation any better for any of us. I genuinely believe everyone is just doing their best to get out of this as safely as possible.

MaxNormal · 17/02/2021 07:47

blowinahoolie you sound like you're trying to convince yourself as much as anyone else.

blowinahoolie · 17/02/2021 08:00

MaxNormal probably😂

Rae36 · 17/02/2021 08:01

Oh for goodness sake, what are we all arguing about now? I'm happy for (and jealous of) those who will see a massive improvement in their quality of life and personal freedom from Monday. It is the first step out of lockdown but not the end of lockdown by any means. My life won't change any for a while yet.

MaxNormal · 17/02/2021 08:01

We've all got to get through however we can Grin

blowinahoolie · 17/02/2021 08:03

Thanks Rae36 for getting it🙌. Yes, and I also wish others could be seeing an improvement in their lives too on a daily basis. One thing we can all agree on is that this phase of our lives has felt like an eternity.

glad to hear that mondaywine - I do always wonder so much with many public service things about the people with no-one to advocate, that applies to any kind of service.

kurtrussellsbeard · 17/02/2021 08:16

There's definite progress being made that can only be a good thing. Surely people didn't expect everything to open up? I'm amazed that the wee ones are even getting back tbh!

polarisation · 17/02/2021 08:19

Well it could be worse, you could be the angry commenter on Facebook who was saying "oh and the P1-3s are supposed to walk themselves to school?! There's SUPPOSED TO BE A LOCKDOWN, or are parents exempt to walk their kids to school now?!?! What a joke"

🤦🏻‍♀️

anon444877 · 17/02/2021 08:20

I am dismayed that special schools aren't opening up for P1-P3 - I've been trying to ascertain facts as it looks like it varies by council but that's unacceptable.

So remember it's not all p1-p3s that are going back either.

People seem upset that it's the youngest kids who've been chosen to go back.
Its impossible to work, HS and watch preschool kids. Something ends up getting neglected in here it's the youngest.
Coupled with the dark nights there's been weeks my LO hasn't seen daylight, messing around in the garden with a torch doesn't count.
God only knows how teachers are meant to teach handwriting or reading via the internet to young kids.

I did think they'd try and get exam years back before Easter to let them use Easter to study.

But all in I'm glad to see stuff moving.

rookiemere · 17/02/2021 08:31

It makes sense for the youngest DCs to be back and I say that as a parent of an S3. I'll be dancing a bloody jig the day he goes back and in fact every morning of the autumn term I'd wake up and thank my lucky stars that he was in school.

kurtrussellsbeard · 17/02/2021 08:31

@Lockdownbear I think it's because there's so little evidence of spread amongst the wee ones. It's safer for them to go back.

It spreads amongst s5 and S6 like wildfire but many are asymptomatic.

But yes people are acting as if it's been a choice. It hasn't really. I would assume it's based in the science of transmission and what they can do to start easing everyone in safely.

jabbathebutt · 17/02/2021 08:41

Do we need to wait til 15th March before we can (hopefully) meet other people indoors, or will it still have to be outdoors?

I miss having a cup of tea legally in my mum's house. I hate feeling guilty going to see her when she's been having a bad day with my dad who has alcohol problems and who has been depressed because he can't see his pals go to the pub- and takes his frustration out verbally on my poor mum.

I also want DD to see her friends properly, rather than just one at a time, in a cold park, with nothing else to do but walk around!

randomsabreuse · 17/02/2021 08:41

I'm assuming the delay in opening up more is to see the effect of the children being back at school on cases over the incubation period. Which (a) makes sense and (b) will hopefully mean that if we have to restrict again after older kids/hospitality reopen they will keep the P1-3s and preschool/nursery in school.

I'm sick of being stuck in East Dunbartonshire, still pissed off about not going to the Safari Park over Christmas plus all the time in tier 4/extra lockdown to no damned effect. Plus the whole sticking to the rules but it doesn't do anything because others obviously aren't resentment.

I want to go skiing (in Scotland), kids to see their cousins and grandparents (in England) and hopefully have somewhere to go (within an hour or so) in the Easter Holidays if the weather is a bit shit...

Lockdownbear · 17/02/2021 08:49

Kurt@LockdownbearI think it's because there's so little evidence of spread amongst the wee ones. It's safer for them to go back.

I know thats probably the logic behind the upper Primaries being next.
But I feel for the exam kids who would get more benefit out of a couple of weeks in school before Easter than the average P4-7.

blowinahoolie · 17/02/2021 09:12

"There's definite progress being made that can only be a good thing."

Exactly kurtrussellsbeard. Let's please all focus on the positives.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 17/02/2021 09:15

I'd be hugely surprised if we're allowed to see people inside before April. She might extend the numbers allowed to meet outside slightly but it seems that other than booze 🤪, inside meetings are Nic's biggest fear. I don't know what she thinks we do with our indoor visitors. I'd imagine those partial to a drink fuelled orgy probably aren't following the rules anyway.

fluffyugg · 17/02/2021 09:15

I think there is some progress but it's more difficult for those with children in other year groups to see that after yesterday. No real mention of s1-3 just that they will be last, when is that? April? May? August? That's what is bothering me.

kurtrussellsbeard · 17/02/2021 09:22

I don't think they can give specific dates without potentially causing huge disappointment. What if when the wee ones go back we experience far more outbreaks in p1-p3 than we did before because of the Kent variant? They couldn't then progress with allowing everyone back and people who had a date in mind would be crushed. The not knowing is annoying but I can understand the need for it.

Lockdownbear · 17/02/2021 09:23

I think S1-3 will be after Easter along with the exam years.

Various reasons why but they need to start opening the economy too, which they can't / won't do until schools are back completely. Furlough hasn't been extended beyond April either.

Rae36 · 17/02/2021 09:25

I've an S2 and and S3, I'm hoping for just after Easter for them but I wouldn't be surprised if it was later. If there's to be 2m distance for the older ones that doesn't leave much space for anyone else.

I typed out a big paragraph of moaning about the specifics of how rotten it is for them but then I deleted it because it's rotten for everyone and I've probably typed out the same stuff 10 times before.

I'll just summarise by saying it's shit.
