I actually have to go out of my town as Nicola told us to click and collect groceries and that’s not available where I live 🤷🏻‍♀️

Scottishskifun · 16/02/2021 22:12

@MaxNormal

Just me then Grin what can I say, no Waitose in my council area.
Shock theirs waitrose in Scotland???!!! Honestly didn't know that definitely no waitrose up my way!

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 22:13

@MaxNormal 😇

MaxNormal · 16/02/2021 22:13

@IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 yes I swear we cross about five boundaries in five minutes at points on the motorway network.

Pootle40 · 16/02/2021 22:14

@MaxNormal

Are people really bothering to stick to council area?
No.
MaxNormal · 16/02/2021 22:16

Scottishskifun three in Glasgow now! And two or three in Edinburgh.

As my only joy now is eating it might as well be nice stuff.

blowinahoolie · 16/02/2021 22:16

Waxonwaxoff I have already said that it's tough on those of us with older DC too. I have older school aged DC and know that, thanks. I have an advantage of being in both camps here! I wouldn't say that I am pleased about them missing school but it is what it is. I am making the best of it and will be able to supervise the older DC whilst two youngest are in nursery. Lots of positives from Monday.

Yep and shopping in peace. It's the little things that I have never experienced in weeks. I look forward to this.

Scottishskifun · 16/02/2021 22:20

@MaxNormal I hope they come northwards I love the deli and sushi sections of waitrose!
Don't think I could justify a 6 hour round trip for it though! 😂

AgentCooper · 16/02/2021 22:21

@MaxNormal I’m not sticking to it either. We go down to Irvine from Glasgow one day each weekend to see MIL. We lost FIL before Christmas and no matter what anyone says MIL’s mental health is the most important thing here. Getting to see her mad wee grandson and have some company does her a lot of good. Plus we’ve all had Covid, her included. And while we’re there we take DS for a wee run about on the beach because he loves it there and trying to get him to go anywhere outside back home is like pulling teeth.

littlbrowndog · 16/02/2021 22:21

My 18th month baby has been in lockdown for half his life

My others are back in school and nursery but me and the baby.

Off to the fucking park again.

No baby club no friends visiting

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 22:21

I recommend the Waitrose halloumi fries

MaxNormal · 16/02/2021 22:25

@Scottishskifun something to look forward to Grin

@AgentCooper my condolences to you and your family, it wouldn't even occur to me that you're breaking a rule I'd assume that's an essential reason.

Lockdown does end in a roundabout way once nurseries return next week for many parents.

So in which way is lockdown ending? I don't have any school age kids, but lockdown is in no way ending or changing. I don't tolerate masks for long due to abuse as a child but I therefore have no reason not to wear a mask then do I? I've not been inside a shop in months and months and then it was only popping in for essentials. I work from home, the weather has been shite and I now have no inclination to go out. I'm not scared of covid, I've had covid. I can't break the rules to do what i want to do as everything I want to do is shut anyway.

But I still realise that there are people having it shiter than I am and that lockdown is not bloody ending.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 16/02/2021 22:26

It is not what it is and it is not where we are.
It is a direct failing of our government.

Just had to get that out. I shall toddle back off to the railing thread now to ensure I keep my blood pressure at a healthy level so as not to burden the NHS :)

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 16/02/2021 22:28

It is not we are where we are autocorrect failing again 😂 @WaxOnFeckOff* don't explain yourself. You are right.

ssd · 16/02/2021 23:00

Of course lockdown isnt ending. It's great the wee ones are going back and some of the big ones but that's it.

Everything else is still shite.

WouldBeGood · 16/02/2021 23:01

Perfect summary @ssd

Jellycatspyjamas · 16/02/2021 23:20

Ah right so I’ll be able to meet my friend for lunch, see my sister, drive 50 minutes to go to the beach, go for a swim, watch a movie in the cinema? Thought not. My DD9 isn’t feeling like lockdown is ending, she’s heartbroken not to see her friends still.

What have we become that sending some of our children to school feels like lockdown ending?

MissEliza · 17/02/2021 01:00

@AgentCooper that sounds lovely.

Groovee · 17/02/2021 06:56

So no word on vaccines or tests for school/nursery staff yet, but I can mix in the nursery bubble! Yet cannot see family members who live in different council areas.

Gawd I remember just having to get on with it 2004 for about 5 months when the Council Nurseries went on strike. I was on a career break back then. Even with my early years experience it was tough. Then the staff were shafted massively.

blowinahoolie · 17/02/2021 07:13

"What have we become that sending some of our children to school feels like lockdown ending?"

Jellycatspyjamas think you have summed it up. For me it's been that bad day in day out that it is lockdown ending (my own personal interpretation) next week. I will have so much more freedom to exercise at home with no small DC around, cook a meal, use a toilet without being followed etc. All the stuff many people on this thread probably take for granted. We all have our personal struggles and I think others just are not getting it. Yes it's tough you can't see your friends or use a gym, get hair done, but others like myself would just like to do the most basic of tasks without restrictions within a home. I love all my DC but it will be healthier for them and I to get time apart.

There will be better days to come for us all in terms of restrictions lifting to get back to meeting friends and family. There were hints of this in Nicola's speech yesterday. Stay calm it will happen WaxOnWaxOff.

Jellycatspyjamas · 17/02/2021 07:24

but others like myself would just like to do the most basic of tasks without restrictions within a home.

Oh I understand that, I too would like 10 minutes to have a cup of tea, of be able to clean something without anyone coming behind me messing things up again. But it’s not remotely akin to lockdown ending - because when my kids go back to school I’ll be at home on my own 30 hours a week, and while I’ll be able to pee in peace, I still can’t do things or see people that matter to me.

blowinahoolie · 17/02/2021 07:30

The thing is I do realise there will be better days to come and I will see my family (in a different region of Scotland) again soon. It's not all bad. We can't just go back to normal all in one week, it's going to take time 🤷

blowinahoolie · 17/02/2021 07:33

How many times in your life time do you live through a pandemic, let's face it. These are unprecedented times. No one could have predicted this situation 🤷

mondaywine · 17/02/2021 07:34

Monday does not bring an end to lockdown. I will continue to be in school full time, as I have been since August and at the end of the working day I will come home and there is nothing to do other than go for a walk.

For those who replied to messages earlier about my Dad’s lack of vaccine my update is that he had a call yesterday and he is having it on Thursday. There was never a reply from Nicola Sturgeon’s office to my email but our MSP did help. What happens to the others in his age and vulnerability category who do not have a me to push for them though?
