If I could live anywhere I think I’d choose the Pyrenees so I could be close to skiing and the beach

anon444877 · 12/02/2021 19:17

Hmmm it requires much deliberation - west coast beach and forest or east coast beach and forest? May need several trips to shake out the ideal fantasy property location.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 19:20

@goodname

I actually quite like Fife 😀
You can come round mine. In about 5 months probably Grin
IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 19:21

Ooh I'd go for a holiday home in Elie too.

We went quite a lot last year and DS was entranced by it! He kept saying it was the most peaceful place he'd ever been.

Cismyfatarse · 12/02/2021 19:21

I moved here from the Highlands. If I had known I could have swapped houses.

Pleeeeaaaase let p3 go back on 22nd.
My only child has developed a bit of social anxiety and has a bit of a cry/grump every time we try to meet a friend outside for a sledge or play 😢😢😢
He needs to go back to seeing others daily.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 12/02/2021 19:26

Yes! I mean, I've never been to the Highlands but I just fancy some peace. Although I suppose I'd have to take DH and the kids...
kurtrussellsbeard · 12/02/2021 19:39

After being almost unfailingly positive I will admit this info has put me on my arse a bit. I hope it's just a rumour.

Selfishly it's the professional repercussions I'm most worried about if we can't get the kids back into school. It's hard enough as it is. 😢

I am worried about my own kids of course as well.

BourbonBiscuits20 · 12/02/2021 20:08

I was going to start a thread but saw this thread so thought I'd chance asking if anyone can explain to me what's happened to the tier system? All health boards are well under the 300 per 100,000 criteria of level 4 are we not?

blowinahoolie · 12/02/2021 20:32

I agree with you YOuCannOtBeSer1Ous. They cannot keep nursery kids off forever. Life has to go on.

Scottishskifun · 12/02/2021 20:36

@BourbonBiscuits20 they aren't sure what to do in all honesty. The old tier system was based on the original strain the Kent strain which is now dominant is very different mainly more easily transmissible. So they are examining the old tier system alongside the information about the Kent strain. Hence not switching back by any nation yet!

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 12/02/2021 20:37

In a completely unreasonable bout of selfishness I don't want to go back to tiers because I'm in Glasgow and at least at the moment everyone is the same. Once we go back into tiers you lot all get your (albeit limited) freedom and we're left, closed down, wondering why the feck the numbers are still so high here.

Sexnotgender · 12/02/2021 20:40

I think I might have a breakdown if nurseries don’t reopen on the 22nd. Genuinely can’t cope much longer trying to work and look after a toddler whilst heavily pregnant.

Mcmole · 12/02/2021 20:46

I feel the same, with an only child in p2. We haven't seen anyone since school finished last year (friends all live in a different council area), it's not healthy for them. I'm working in the day too so she's so lonely. At least the snow this week (half term, hooray) cheered her up.

Rae36 · 12/02/2021 20:46

It does seem like the daily cases are stuck round about 800, they seem to have been there for a while. I wonder why that is?

I’m noticing my kid struggling this time round, just subtly, nothing drastic, but they are just flat and much less enthusiastic about everything. The snow this half term has been an absolute gift, they have been in the park playing every day and have been so much happier. Maybe that’s why I’m noticing the change in their behaviour a bit more in comparison, they are so happy this week compared to how they were last week. I wonder how they’ll be next week when the snow is gone and we’re back to home school? I’m worried about them tbh in a way I haven’t been before.

Mcmole · 12/02/2021 20:47

Oops, was meant to be quoting and replying to museumum there!

Vodkafairy75 · 12/02/2021 20:50

@icanboogieboogiewoogie Why are Glasgow cases still so high? Is it because it’s a larger area and more densely populated? I’m in Aberdeenshire and cases on Travelling Tabby were 7 today, 3 in Aberdeen City & 133 in Glasgow City. That’s a huge difference. It must be so frustrating if the numbers don’t seem to be coming down at all in your area.

NotAnActualSheep · 12/02/2021 20:53

I'm not convinced they will return to tiers, partly because of the reasons scottishskifun said, but also because of the interconnected nature of so much of Scotland. Wherever you draw the border, there will be people who live/ work/ shop across it and that's so difficult to control. So even if one area has low "numbers" there will be people from higher areas with a valid reason to be moving into and around it. Plus it's human nature to go to an area with shops and restaurants if there aren't any open in your area! The possible exception could be the islands I suppose, but even then there are valid reasons for travel to and from the mainland (like the vaccine crews!) I don't know what the solution is, though - but schools need to go back everywhere frankly before they start thinking about who can have pubs back Grin I think settling on a nationwide order to reopen things in, and then doing it everywhere at the same time is probably what they will do, though.

But yes, as you say, all council areas are now in at least level 3, and many in level 2 just looking at the numbers. So why schools and nurseries are still closed is a mystery to me.

StarryEyeSurprise · 12/02/2021 20:59

The Office for National Statistics estimates around one in 80 people had COVID-19 in the week ending 6 February in England, one in 85 in Wales, one in 75 in Northern Ireland and one in 150 in Scotland.

Good sign surely 👍

blowinahoolie · 12/02/2021 21:20

Thank you StarryEyeSurprise just the news I needed to hear about Scotland. All looking positive for Tuesday 🤞

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 12/02/2021 21:40

I really don't know @Vodkafairy75. We have large immigrant communities who are more likely to have more than one generation in the one house, and some areas where overcrowding is a major factor. Plus a lot of people (of all ethnicities) are more likely to be in unstable work, 0 hours contacts and the like, so, right or wrong, can't afford to isolate. A large student population may also have been a factor at some point, but I'm not sure it is now, although there has been a lot of chat about house parties in the West End!
I certainly don't feel that we're all massive rule breakers but often you feel that others seem to believe that.

titsbumfannythelot · 12/02/2021 21:54

We also have one of the largest metropolitan hospitals in the uk too.

NCnotAllThat · 12/02/2021 21:59

Does anyone know if someone is in hospital with covid (either catching there or going in with) does that case get marked against the patients home neighbourhood or against the neighbourhood the hospital falls into?

Sootess · 12/02/2021 22:07

Think it must be the home address. Otherwise on the interactive dashboard the areas with large hospitals would always be darkest colour and they’re not.

goodname · 12/02/2021 22:10

@Rae36. I know what you mean, mine are like this too. Flat, unenthusiastic. I can’t get them interested in anything but screen time and snacks. We go outside everyday but it’s getting harder every day to force them out and to force them to work. It is worrying
