Looks very piste like for a hill topping out at 540 ish metres and almost certainly under 5 miles from central Glasgow!

Other Campsie Fells need snowshoes or skis to access as snow is fence high (deer fence height in sheltered gullies) at road level (and you can't find the bridge over the little stream other than by luck)...

A boot dryer? I haven't had shoes on since Saturday and that's pretty much normal now. Shoes on to collect click and collect and slippers the rest of the week.

jabbathebutt · 10/02/2021 23:10

That's St Andrews following Edinburgh in telling students all teaching online until the Autumn. I've also been told Glasgow are doing the same although nothing public from Glasgow yet.

ssd · 10/02/2021 23:23

Wow

goodname · 11/02/2021 07:52

Yeah I just read the St.andrews uni letter to students, what a shame for anyone in their final year especially. Totally pants way to end university
I need a boot heater as well, always have piles of boots by the stove drying out and waterproofs dripping onto the floor.

ssd · 11/02/2021 09:13

Ds is doing a masters, over 6k and no face to face teaching. What a rip.

jabbathebutt · 11/02/2021 09:49

which university @ssd ? are tuition fees paid where he is?

ssd · 11/02/2021 09:50

Scottish uni, he paid it himself with a loan. Hes Scottish too.

I'm in the first year of a Masters, taught entirely online. But the key difference is that the course was always designed to be delivered online, it's always been delivered online, it's been running since something like 2003, the staff know the score, the software is there and the very most important thing is that I knew what I was signing up for. The lead tutor on our course says she's never been in so much demand from colleagues wanting to know how she organises things and runs her course online.

I'd be really pissed off if I thought I was signing up for in person teaching and paying full whack for an inferior experience.

RaspberryCoulis · 11/02/2021 10:08

I have a S4 doing Drama and a S6 doing 2 Sciences and haven't heard what the plans are to bring them in to complete practical assessments or work. To be fair though, that announcement was only made last week and this week we've been on holiday.

I would imagine that rather than getting them in for 50 minute periods here and there it'll be mornings/afternoons at a time. I would hope so anyway, by the time they walk home that's 25 minutes out of the next lesson anyway. Will wait to see what school are proposing. My S1 I am fully expecting to be home until after Easter. Confused Not happy about that at all, tbh.

ssd · 11/02/2021 10:09

Yes,his wasnt meant to be all online but is now...and hes still paid the full whack. It's just shit.

ssd · 11/02/2021 10:11

No,I wouldn't be happy either raspberry, its far too long out of school for them.

Groovee · 11/02/2021 10:56

Dd was promised in person workshops for uni. Hence why she has a flat in Dundee that she's not living in. Though she would have gone back if her dad hadn't turned yellow! She's not sure if she'll set foot in placement at all this year 😭.

blowinahoolie · 11/02/2021 11:37

Half term tomorrow, and Monday and Tuesday next week. So glad to get a "break" from a school day helping DC. One less stress.

blowinahoolie · 11/02/2021 11:49

Sorry to hear about your DS ssd, there are no winners at all because of this whole sh*t show.

anon444877 · 11/02/2021 12:19

I'd be annoyed too re university, aren't we paying full whack for a school experience that is inferior too? It's not the uni or school teachers' fault and the costs haven't gone down to provide the online resource because it wasn't setup to be online.

ssd · 11/02/2021 12:32

TBH I'm probably more annoyed than him. Hes very much a just get on with it type. Not a fretter like his mother.
dancemom · 11/02/2021 12:36

More piri rice figures today, back under 5% of positive returns, hospital numbers back to those of first peak .... hopefully this continues 🤞🏼

dancemom · 11/02/2021 12:36

I have no idea what piri rice is although it sounds delicious 🤷🏻‍♀️

readsalotgirl63 · 11/02/2021 12:51

dd is in final year at Glasgow and I am very sad for her as this is not how she hoped her final year would be. However she is having fun in the snow!

frasersmummy · 11/02/2021 13:22

I work at strathclyde.. They have cancelled their winter graduation in November already as well as their summer one

It's totally shit
Ns says lockdown is working.. So what are her plans to move forward

Oh that's right she doesn't have one apart from independence..

Sorry small rant.. Just frustrated with the lack of impetus to start the country up again

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/02/2021 13:24

I agree @frasersmummy

DS1 is at Strathclyde Smile

anon444877 · 11/02/2021 13:26

Yes independence is the magical thinking covid recovery plan. Expect we'll get some freedoms back in time for the election so we can offer thanks.

Aurea · 11/02/2021 13:38

My son will be going into school for a full day for Higher music for the week beginning 22 Feb, although he may be dismissed early. No mixing etc outside his bubble. Other subject class work will be completed on the other four days.

Peppafrig · 11/02/2021 13:44

So stressful today after the kids been off all week . Anyone struggling to get them back into working today ?
