"Parents have been made aware of the behaviour and the incidents going on but no change."

Many don't care, just want them out the house. Sad state of affairs. Hopefully the situation calms down very soon if police are now aware.

@WaxOnFeckOff

We are experiencing a lot of issues with young teens and antisocial behaviour. Mostly egging houses and racing about on bikes through the estate but now moved on to throwing eggs at cars and playing chicken. Police are now involved.

One neighbour stating that it's because of lack of sports clubs but being honest, these aren't the kids that are in scouts or are ferried to basketball training and swimming etc.

It's sad as well as annoying as they are fucking up their own future as much as anything else.

They apparently don't behave at school either but being remote isn't helping as clearly no discipline at home and school aren't able to encourage anything better. Parents have been made aware of the behaviour and the incidents going on but no change.

One of my (now retired) colleagues told me that juvenile crime rates (for want of a better expression) used to go up during study leave because they weren't in school.

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/01/2021 22:21

we always get a week or so of bother when the clocks back in the autumn, bit of chap door run and hiding in bushes etc. Always then just settles down. It's been on and off for months now, luckily we've not been targeted but they do cut through our street making plenty noise. Police haven't been terribly interested but I guess now with them breaking covid rules it seems to be of more interest.

I've had teenagers, I've been a teenager, I've lived in poverty on a rough estate, never got up to this sort of stuff. Most nuisance we caused was maybe running through stairs when playing hide and seek type games. My own DC never really did the hanging about the streets stuff - i kept them too busy!

Not sure if this is behind a paywall (I have a subscription) but its bloody spot on

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 30/01/2021 22:34

Ach, it won't let me copy and paste either.

Its basically criticizing the trans video NS did and pointing out all the other equality groups that don't seem to matter. Criticizes treatment of Joanna Cherry and Kate Forbes. Accuses NS of trying to deflect etc. Talks about women leaving the SNP in high numbers.

Also says what I basically said earlier - all women are equal but trans women are more equal than others.

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/01/2021 22:41

I read the comments and got the same gist as you've given. It's all a deflection from the failure to deal with the issues of poverty etc.

I mean sectarianism seems to be okay but but you can't comment that someone who just decides that they want to call themselves a woman and examine rape victims is not ok?

I honestly have no issue with someone transitioning fully (whether the NHS should pay is another matter), i don't think we have anything to fear from people who generally just want to just get on with their life. I also think the vast majority who also self gender themselves are of no harm to society, but like in all walks of life there are people who seek to take advantage.

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel

Someone mentioned Japan - this came up on my Twitter feed just now and I thought it was interesting.
I am late to this conversation and I just question if this is like for like. The UK doesn't have 100k deaths due to Covid....we will probably never know how many are due to it or not.
WaxOnFeckOff · 30/01/2021 23:01

I've reached my limit on the Scotsman this week as well - oops!

Too much happening, i might actually need to start reading the newspapers.

littlbrowndog · 30/01/2021 23:08

It’s really about the inequalities of poverty in our country for health

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/01/2021 23:10

Managed to get it on my phone via data rather than wifi so it didn't "recognise" me.

Lockdownbear · 30/01/2021 23:12

Lift expectancy has dropped to 61 for a man in the deprived areasSad
Why are these areas still wanting SNP?
Why aren't the other papers all over that?

Lockdownbear · 30/01/2021 23:13

On a happy note Crowds could return to Football next seasonSmile,

A PPs quote from James Melville was spot on:

"The forest was shrinking because the trees were being cut by the axe. But the trees kept voting for the axe because its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them".

WaxOnFeckOff · 30/01/2021 23:22

I'm not sure how the SNPs own predicted (pre pandemic) at least 10 years of austerity are going to help with this. But it will be okay cos we will have blue passports freeeedomm. Hmm

Lockdownbear · 30/01/2021 23:45

Just a thought, in the event of Scotland independence, I can see why Scotland would want a soft border, what would Englands motivation be to have a soft border?

WaxOnFeckOff · 31/01/2021 00:00

i think if Scotland was not in the EU, I think they'd be as not bothered about it as we were. People coming and going back and forward with no impact either side. What would impact is any deal that gave free movement to Scotland from across EU members or also any non EU immigration policy that would directly impact them given that free movement was a major driver of brexit. There would need to be some way of ensuring that people that Scotland brought in, stayed in Scotland.

Lockdownbear · 31/01/2021 00:15

Waxon that's partly what I was thinking.
But then what's the motivation for them to allow Scottish frate (spelling?) to travel through England adding to their pot holes without charging some sort of road toll /tax?

latortugafeliz · 31/01/2021 00:16

@shouldistop

Is it petty that I'll be annoyed if they open on the Tuesday instead of the Monday as ds1 isn't in on a Tuesday or Wednesday 🤣
😂 no, I'm in the exact same position. Every day starts to count!
Lockdownbear · 31/01/2021 00:18

It's honestly stuff that I never actually thought about last time round.

freight Smile because we'd be allowing their freight up using our roads etc. I think in the end it would be 6 and 2 threes and it would mainly balance out. If we were using their ports etc to manage exports, i would imagine there would be a charge at the point of use for types of services that would be a cost with no benefit, if there was an imbalance.

With they way things are all tracked and electronically tagged, I don't think it would be too difficult to assess major business. I don't think either side would be too bothered about internal tourism or personal shopping across the border as it would work both ways.

Not that I'm trying to sell independence! :o

I think (taking immigration aside) that the border would be the least of our concerns.

WhatstheTruthRuth · 31/01/2021 00:36

Lockdownbear it’s ‘healthy’ life expectancy that’s dropped to 61 not just life expectancy. When I first saw that reported online I thought exactly the same as you and thought it was the latter and was suitably shocked. I can’t remember what the statistics were for life expectancy but it’s nearer to 80.

Lockdownbear · 31/01/2021 00:43

Thanks for spelling.Smile

I was more thinking about Scottish imports and exports to Europe going via Dover, rather than the goods we import / exports to England and Wales.
That extra traffic on England's roads is of no benefit to them. I don't really see what we'd be giving them in return?

I don't imagine NI to England freight goes via Scotland. It would make more sense for it to sail from Liverpool.

WaxOnFeckOff · 31/01/2021 00:52

But then do you mean if Scotland was in the EU? Otherwise snp mps have opposed or not voted for any trade agreement outside the EU. So I can't see what expertise they have in terms of getting independent trade deals, don't the vast majority of our current exports go to rUK anyway?

I don't really know all the ins and outs tbh.
