@WouldBeGood

Laphroaig, mezcsl, lime and jalapeño
Ooft! Now that would be murky!
shouldistop · 30/01/2021 07:11

I know the vaccination program isn't about individuals but my dh wee granny is almost 89 and still hasn't been called meanwhile in England a family member in her 50s is being jabbed on Monday (she is CEV). England just seem to be moving at a much faster rate although I'll concede we've ramped up a bit.

WouldBeGood · 30/01/2021 08:19

My 88 year old dad still not done and his practice has told him they’ve run out of vaccine.

WouldBeGood · 30/01/2021 08:20

But I’m really glad to see the big centre set up.

Today’s excitement here is my click and collect groceries and shelving. Living the dream.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 30/01/2021 08:27

DD is seeing her friend today (allowed to see 1 person outdoors if you are aged 12 and up) but I'm still a wee bit nervous and I'm lecturing her about masks and hand sanitiser when out and about.

Will also encourage her to speak to her pal about her pal's subject choices, cause I'm still not too sure about the woodwork choice!

rookiemere · 30/01/2021 08:39

That's not so good @WouldBeGood about your DF. I hope they get more supplies in soon.
Scotland appears to have a unnecessarily long supply chain to get the vaccines out, whereas England going for a more direct approach. I genuinely hope that opening the EICC for vaccinations will get our rates more in line with theirs.

rookiemere · 30/01/2021 08:42

@Iwillneverbesatisfied that's brilliant your DD is seeing her friend. It's so important for them to have peer age friends at that age.

Now that the infection rates are almost back to pre Christmas levels, I hope the SG can relax rules on teens meeting outside and outdoor exercise quite quickly - but sadly I don't think they will .

Lockdownbear · 30/01/2021 08:44

The SNP internal stuff is crazy! I look forward to seeing it all unfold.

In the last referendum I was all for it. I now think it would be a complete and utter disaster, that will end up bitter and twisted, hard border at Carlisle and separate currencies.

anon444877 · 30/01/2021 08:55

Did anyone see protests in Holland over a 9pm curfew - so sad. I wonder why some countries have gone for curfews.

shouldistop · 30/01/2021 08:58

@WouldBeGood I hope your dad gets jabbed soon!

Ds1 slept in til 7.30 so me and ds2 just lay in bed together after his 6am feed, it was nice actually as usually we're all go in the morning.
Everyone's just had breakfast, I'm about to get 4yo dressed then myself showered etc. DH is walking the dog.

Our excitement today is walking round the waterworks this morning then playpark this afternoon. Rock n roll!

Will ask dh to mainly keep baby sorted in between feeds so I can concentrate on ds1 a bit

Lockdownbear · 30/01/2021 10:00

Anon, Netherlands allows people to have one visitor. Friend was moaning via FB her and DP couldn't visit friends together. Not sure what the pub / restaurant rules are.

I'm sure the 9pm thing is to do with people dropping their guard after a few beers. Forgetting SD extra.

Scottishskifun · 30/01/2021 10:01

I doubt they will relax anything til numbers are much much lower than Christmas unfortunately given they were examining lock down in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

I have resound myself to being in lock down for the next month at least.Sad but I think I prefer a longer initial time then ping pong between 3/4 and lock downs!

Lockdownbear · 30/01/2021 10:17

I just wish nursery could get back and they'd be open about time scales, they must have analysts who have a reasonable ability to predict, when stuff will happen.
The two week drip feed is bursting my head, you can't plan anything, or decide if it's worth investing in anything with 2 week drip feeds.

anon444877 · 30/01/2021 10:21

Interesting bear - there have been significant differences in what's meant by lockdown across the world. Very sad to see the violence, people are so at the end of their endurance.

readsalotgirl63 · 30/01/2021 10:41

MIL (late 70s and in England) being vaccinated Monday. Elderly relatives (early 80s in Glasgow area) being vaccinated Friday.

Cocacola12 · 30/01/2021 10:52

My 88 year old GF in-law being vax today (Aberdeen) finally starting to hear of more and more so that’s good news

Dinnafashyersel · 30/01/2021 11:15

shouldistop we all had a long lie this morning too and a chill out day ahead. Helps that we are a pretty indolent bunch and the sun is out for luxuriating like a cat on the radiator under the window.

Scottishskifun I agree. I would rather wait a few weeks longer with the prospect of being firmly on the road to normality. Limping on with layer upon layer of extra precautions starts to feel like going backwards very quickly (I'm in the ever manky part of the country).

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 30/01/2021 11:18

I'm on this Parliament Citizen's Panel thing again today and Devi Sridhar is laying out five different strategies which we've to assess, ranging from do nothing to a strategy of total elimination.

I'm thinking of you guys tearing your hair out over restrictions a lot! Grin

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 30/01/2021 11:27

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel please dear god vote against total elimination 😂 I'm all for containment but months more of lockdown will destroy too many people.

Obviously vote as you wish but though I would put my 2 pence in 😂

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 30/01/2021 11:29

I do have to vote shortly...I think I'm for elimination sorry Grin

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 30/01/2021 11:30

Exclusion is the tougher one, like NZ, I'm not going that far!

Lockdownbear · 30/01/2021 11:30

Total elimination will never happen. Bonkers they considered it in the first place. The MH and economic cost would be ridiculous.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 30/01/2021 11:33

I don't know, I haven't seen anything to suggest that NZ is worse off than us economically and in terms of mental health? I think being able to live our own lives within closed borders would actually be a massive improvement on what we have now.

But it's too late anyway now.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 30/01/2021 11:35

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel I would really like to hear your thought process and what it would entail? Not trying to be a dick honestly I just wonder how a person thinks it's a good idea?

I suppose from my perspective business is decimated and unlikely to be able to reopen, my uni stuff is all online which is shite, can't get a part time job because of childcare so I'm in a pretty shit situation and have been for nearly a year so really against this style of strategy going on. I support the need for some restrictions on borders etc (and that totally fucks my wedding) but personally feel that they are asking too much of the people to continue like this.

As I said I'm not looking to argue I am genuinely interested in different peoples views. I know in my circle (bunch of 30 somethings) we are all fucked in terms of redundancies and mortgages etc so we all seem to be for minimal restrictions.

Dinnafashyersel · 30/01/2021 11:40

J&J vaccine trials announced yesterday suggest 100% effective against death and 85% against hospitalisation. Easy vaccine to produce, store and distribute with traditional tech and single dose. Works against all new variants identified to date (think it is whole virus rather than targeted spike so makes sense it gives broader protection).

If all this is true elimination through vaccination may be possible but also unnecessary as a short term goal. Once vaccinated why would you need elimination and high local population vaccination would provide herd immunity level suppression?
