When do you think schools and nurseries will actually re-open?

Feeling very sad for English childcare staff Sad

Most English nurseries aren't opening. I feel very sorry for the teachers. Literally at lunchtime he was saying that larent should send their children into school and hours later he's said they've all to close.

WouldBeGood · 04/01/2021 21:46

I think England have got it right. It follows the science on little ones and transmission and the difficulties of having a toddler at home while working

It's crazy to keep nursery open, because you have much higher staff to child ratio than in school. And often there will be several staff in a smallish room. You get away with it when cases are low, but now only outdoor nursery should be open.

It's different with a childminder when you only have 1 adult with a few kids.

How are you all getting on with kids at home / homeschooling / working etc?

I'm glad I'm on mat leave, just wish I was getting some of it at least to bond with the baby better. I feel like all I do is feed, change then ignore him while I entertain 4yo.

Yesterday we played board games, walked to the shops, went to the park, had a disco in the living room and watched too much tv.

This morning we got the train to the next 'village' went to a different park, had a picnic brunch and now 4yo has gone to my mums for a couple of hours. She's decided as we're not seeing anyone or going anywhere we're not any risk to each other after all.

My mum never turns on the tv for ds so at least I won't feel guilty if he watches some when he gets home.

Dh bought a sledge for ds and I think we've to have snow tomorrow.

Our schools aren’t back yet. We aren’t due back until tomorrow (if it was as normal) so we are still in the Christmas holidays which feels like a lifetime ago. I am back on Furlough and DH is off sick so a house full. I like my space!!!!!

Our homeschooling doesn’t start until Monday.

Same here last day of hols for DD4 and I. Prior to holidays my SLT had identified that they could cover providing childcare for key worker DC and vulnerable pupils for the 2 days this week.

So we all have online meets to plan in our faculties for remote teaching. It was quite straightforward when we thought it was one week...

They know that will change drastically next week many families who might have shuffled their shifts/days off etc for a week and didn't apply for places are now expected to. I have no childcare requirements so am quite happy to be in school if it's small numbers, social distancing in place and in my place of work so that I can interact with my own classes.

Feeling really rubbish and stressed.

I'm going to switch off my work email and just check it on Friday then switch it back on on Sunday night. It's just emails that aren't relevant to me.
