I've name changed for this.
Had a wee look over on that page tonight as I have a ( possible ex) friend who's really active there and shares things all the time.
There is a post on tonight where people are actively threatening to take on the police as they have " weapons to match them ". I get we are all scunnered but I'm really worried by it. It has nothing to do with keeping schools open or protecting children!

I don't vote SNP and have no time for Nicola Sturgeon but I cannot stand the UsforThem loons

I see one of them has turned up at school today with her children, filming herself and getting virtual pats on the back from her fellow nutjobs

DumplingsAndStew · 05/01/2021 11:07

What on earth is she putting her children through that for?! What a sin. I do hope her children get a school place to be honest, as they are clearly vulnerable to her brainwashing.

mondaywine · 05/01/2021 11:25

At what point will they realise that teachers have absolutely no say in any of this? We follow the instructions of our heads and they follows the instructions of the LAs. Every single school worker who has a child is in the exact same boat as them trying to juggle childcare, home learning and work. For a group who claim to be so passionate about the mental health of children and who claim everything is ‘abuse’ they seem blind to the fact that dragging their children along to a school they won’t be allowed to go into is just not on.

RaraRachael · 05/01/2021 11:32

I've just watched the video of that woman taking her kids to school and read all the congratulatory comments. They've been bombarding MSPs with emails and one had the audacity to reply but not agree with them, stating that education wasn't the be all and end all . Don't think that went down well!

Outsidemum1 · 05/01/2021 11:32

My thoughts too. Is it not an in service day today for those back anyway?

RaraRachael · 05/01/2021 11:34

Today is an in service day for staff but most are working from home. The rest of this week is "supervised care", not education, for keyworkers' children only.

Outsidemum1 · 05/01/2021 11:42

Yes that's what I thought. Confused So she wants her kids in on an in service day. The mind boggles!

Was just reading the links between Bisset/ Tories/ Farage. Interesting. I knew the Tory links were why they're given so much exposure in the MSM but didn't realise the Farage link.

Interestingly many of them are refusing online learning and want pen and paper. I though live lessons online were the gold standard and they were criticising schools for not providing them last time?
Can't do right for doing wrong.

Outsidemum1 · 05/01/2021 12:12

That's true, though I also always prefer pencil and paper as hate screens (she says, whilst typing on one!).

Totally agree. The can't seem to make up their minds what they want
ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 05/01/2021 12:27

Rararachael where was the video of the parent going into school - Twitter? (Though not sure if I could bear to watch!)

Groovee · 05/01/2021 12:32

We're on an inservice in Edinburgh. It's been suggested we don't do lots of resources that need to be printed but work that can be done in Jotters.

Anyone who tried to turn up to us today would have been disappointed as the school is fully closed.

It was the Facebook page about 2 hours ago.
archilleshealplease · 05/01/2021 13:23

They're absolutely nuts. Going to refuse to engage with digital learning and instead use an abacus FFS. Or not support their kids learning at all because they're not teachers and it's not their job.
Then get their children involved by writing sad face letters to MSPs and dragging them to school. You really do have to worry about the effect on their children

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 05/01/2021 13:28

Thanks Groovee, found it.
It's an awful thing to get a child to list all the reasons they are sad about not being in school. That would do wonders for their mental health.

anon444877 · 05/01/2021 13:36

@Bloodypunkrockers absolutely crazy - agree with dumplings the kids do sound like they might be vulnerable if their dm is happy to drag them around for stunt purposes.

gotyerhat · 05/01/2021 14:04

So they're now saying they won't engage with online learning but teachers are all lazy and work shy and they want better provision of online learning material? They're worried school closures will widen the attainment gap but to prove that point they're not supporting their own kids in engaging with material which will lessen the impact of that? Is that right? I'm a little confused Hmm

Groovee · 05/01/2021 14:27

@gotyerhat they make no sense. I find one of the admin so rude to people.

DumplingsAndStew · 05/01/2021 16:34

They're not supporting their children (educationally OR emotionally as far as some of them seem) so they can shout in 6months time "see, i told you the damage lockdown causes, now my Tyler and Ryley are both depressed, anxious and regressed completely in their education. And I lost my job as I had to bunk off to spend all day marching with my Internet pals and banging my keyboard whilst watching YouTube 'scientists'".

Poor fucking kids

pinkclouds333 · 05/01/2021 16:47

They’re all sound so thick as well😂. Some of the posters can hardly string a sentence together. Poor kids having those weird parents and poor teachers having to deal with those parents - nightmare.

DumplingsAndStew · 05/01/2021 16:58

Unfortunately, it'll be the office staff dealing with many of the parents. The abuse thats been hurled at the school staff I know these past 9 months has been horrendous.

DumplingsAndStew · 05/01/2021 16:59

By unfortunately, I don't mean that teachers getting the grief would be any more acceptable by the way. The manner in which some families are acting is disgraceful 😔

pinkclouds333 · 05/01/2021 17:03

They not they’re - oops - can’t even string a sentence together 😂

MintChocAddict · 05/01/2021 17:49

Couldn't have put it better myself. Her poor kids. I think she's also the stats person who refers to other Usforthem members are her 'fellow geniuses'. Hmm

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 05/01/2021 22:43

They are really going crazy today over home learning.
However, despite all the shit they have flung in the way of my profession this year, and the total disregard they have for my or my family's health and well-being, I do think a lot of the vitriol over learning at home comes from a place of fear - many people are basically shitting themselves at the thought of having their dc at home for an extended period, some will have pressures from employers and others will worry about understanding the work sent home/dealing with issues with online learning in particular. I have a small (veery small) grain of sympathy for them.
