@Dinosauratemydaffodils

I'm just so fed up. My mum is depressed and alone in Fife. My grandmother who adored Christmas and organised the most amazing parties died earlier this year (not of covid) so it's my mum's first Christmas without her mum. My inlaws are in Angus and well aware they don't have many years left (mil's dad was murdered so she's very much live each day as if it's your last). We're in Aberdeenshire and have no food for Christmas. God knows where we're meant to get food from as we're right on the Angus border and our usual supermarkets are Montrose/Aberdeen. We'll probably end up having to visit multiple shops for everything if we're staying at home.

There is no pleasure in anything any more.

Oh dinosaur - I'm so sorry you're struggling (and everyone else of course). It is awful having the joy sucked out of stuff, in a year that's really not high in the joy stakes in the first place. Flowers and Cake to you all.

Nicola on at 5.30pm...here we go again! 😩

Puddington · 19/12/2020 16:40

I'm terrified Sad My boyfriend (both of us single person households only intending to spend the time he's here indoors with food and presents blah blah blah) was due to stay with me between the 24th-27th, all booked and paid for, but we are now both so anxious that Nicola will come down hard despite Scotland's relatively low rates and cancel all the flights or something. We have bought a house in Scotland and will be moving in together circa March next year but I REALLY don't want to go without seeing him until then.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 19/12/2020 16:42

Shit England mixing now only on actual Christmas Day

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 19/12/2020 16:43

Aww Puddington I’m so sorry keeping my fingers crossed for you Flowers

Redglitter · 19/12/2020 16:43

If she changes things at this late date I think ill cry. We can't have our family Christmas on the 25th because my brother and I both work for the emergency services

Its going to be a serious kick in the teeth to emergency services & frontline NHS staff if the restrictions are only lifted on Christmas Day

Coquohvan · 19/12/2020 16:47

@Puddington & @Redglitter Flowers

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/12/2020 16:50

Just reading through the updates now but wanted to confirm that alcohol free Kopparberg was served and I was also offered alcohol free Prosecco, wine and a range of beers.

WouldBeGood · 19/12/2020 16:57

@Puddington I don’t think she will stop bubbles

tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 19/12/2020 16:57

Here was me feeling relatively positive after travelling tabby update about lowest cases and positivity rate for a while.

Getting any freedoms back is going to be bloody hard.

Mrsjayy · 19/12/2020 16:57

My eldest is also in the emergency services ,and only day off is the 23rd she is working right through from the. 24th so I really hope Nicola doesn't change her tune. DH thinks she wont though as a big eff you to Boris and leave it as is.

Puddington · 19/12/2020 16:59

@WouldBeGood I know, I was hoping she wouldn't since the other govs are keeping them intact but at the same time I'm just worried that since my bubble technically involves a domestic flight it might be cancelled somehow Sad

Thanks for the kind words too PP Flowers

Mrsjayy · 19/12/2020 17:04

Flights won't be cancelled.

Puddington · 19/12/2020 17:06

Sorry I know I probably sound like I'm overreacting! It's just been a very bleak year Flowers

Ginsmything · 19/12/2020 17:06

Sorry if someone has already said but do we know when NS is making her announcement?

LizzieMacQueen · 19/12/2020 17:07

It's 5.30

Ginsmything · 19/12/2020 17:08

@LizzieMacQueen thanks.

JamesMoriarty · 19/12/2020 17:10

Shit, I've been blissfully watching Christmas movies and ignoring the news all day. Wasn't expecting this 😳 wonder what 5.30 will bring...

tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 19/12/2020 17:15

Well Wales has just announced a national lockdown from midnight and Christmas mixing to one day. I think we know where this will go.

anon444877 · 19/12/2020 17:17

I'm not sure - I would bet on post Christmas restrictions myself because we've had a lot of continued upfront restrictions and if I were her, given our lower rates I'd be tempted to reassure everyone and bask in a massive tide of approval, before slipping some post Xmas restrictions in.

But I am not NS clearly and she's shown a lot of excessive caution so maybe it'll be Christmas tweaks.

Bikingbear · 19/12/2020 17:18

What's our chances of Nic giving it 'Scotland has done so much better with restrictions and reducing the r number that Christmas can go ahead as planned'

Dream on - bear???

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 19/12/2020 17:18

My dad will go apeshit if he can't go on the train to get his pint in Helensburgh. Which he shouldn't be doing anyway for multiple reasons but he canny take a telling.

anon444877 · 19/12/2020 17:18

I'd bet on it bear!

JamesMoriarty · 19/12/2020 17:24

I'm nervous.

littlbrowndog · 19/12/2020 17:32

Hear we go
