This is an ongoing thread for Scottish mumsnetters - or indeed non Scottish mumsnetters such as myself, to comment on ongoing covid matters pertinent to ourselves, in a hopefully not too partisan and friendly fashion.

Sadly not @TooExtraImmatureCheddar. We can’t leave our area to go into Edinburgh as it’s a different council and we are tier 3. Tier 1/2 can travel to other tier 1/2 areas but tiers 3/4 can’t leave their own areas.

NotAnActualSheep · 23/11/2020 21:20

@StatisticallyChallenged

The airport is close to the border but definitely in Edinburgh. I believe that because you are allowed to transit through a higher tier then you can go on holiday from Edinburgh or Glasgow if you are in T1/T2. If you are in T3/T4 you are allowed to go to the airport if it is in your council, but you are not allowed to get on a plane as then you'd be leaving your council area and that's forbidden.

I think

Yup. That's my understanding too. Because NS has taken it upon herself to protect the public health of the Canaries by stopping all us virus laden level 3 and 4 people infecting them. Even if they are perfectly happy to have us visit following testing, or whatever.

So how would the airport know what area you lived in? Serious question - I'm sure people who live in Tier 3/4 and have booked will still go unless the flights are cancelled.

Bollocks. Thanks for answering me, mondaywine (which I also had today!).

When you see it written down like this, you have to laugh. It’s so ludicrous that this summary is pretty spot on re the made up rules and yet reads like a spoof news article. 🤣
littlbrowndog · 23/11/2020 21:55

Well yes byetheloch

It’s a bit like a card game now. Or perhaps switch and bait. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️😎😎

littlbrowndog · 23/11/2020 21:56

Rember your tier and ffs don’t cross a tier to go,to a lower tier or is it a higher tier

Only the gods know the answer to the tier conundrums

NotAnActualSheep · 23/11/2020 22:00

I do think it's getting more like a cross between In The Thick of It and The Day Today every day...

WouldBeGood · 23/11/2020 22:06

@NotAnActualSheep do you remember the “WAR” day today bit? Where they create it to report on?

Bytheloch · 23/11/2020 22:07

with Siobhan Sharpe from Perfect Curve leading the PR strategy.

NotAnActualSheep · 23/11/2020 22:17

Haha! Yes, that's exactly the episode I was thinking of... "The stretched twig of peace is at melting point". We rewatched the series in April, and I think it may be due another airing.

littlbrowndog · 23/11/2020 22:18

Thick of it. 💪💪💪

Fuckity fuck

anon444877 · 23/11/2020 22:26

I don't think you'd get stopped on leaving if flying because of tier travelling from, but on the way back you fill in a document that goes to the border control, and presumably, maybe there is then some mechanism by which they notify local councils or issue fines?

Conjecturing. I wonder what sort of documents you need to prove you're travelling for essential work reasons etc.

Dinnafashyersel · 23/11/2020 22:41

Loving the airport chat. Just so you know if you clean 1s and 2s should head to the airports in unclean 3/4 almost all the staff at the airport will be from various varieties of 3/4 areas.

But we won't go on holiday with you so i'm sure it's fine. Hmm

Also I'm pretty sure a fair few 3/4s will be getting on the planes for "essential" work journeys.

(Best just to shut your eyes and hope not to be sick like I always do on the plane)

rookiemere · 23/11/2020 22:45

Well if the police want to make some easy money, they can just check number plate addresses at the airport. Us Edinburgh Level 3 plane spotters or covid testers are unlikely to be staying overnight - although I tempted to have a night at one of the airport hotels just for the sheer heck of it.

They might even arrest you on the way back and place you in a police cell - but socially distanced of course.
Bikingbear · 23/11/2020 22:47

Now they're denying that's possible even with a vaccine and "some measures" remaining permanently.

Dinnafesh - WHAF?

Please tell these lot will be out on their arse in May - really please tell me.
Not to mention in the middle of a fucking pandemic they are wasting money on a national bank - what's wrong with what we have what a waste of money. Arrr

Rant over

littlbrowndog · 23/11/2020 22:54

There are 2 mad people on Scotland tonight

The interviewer is like. Omg

One is saying just have one course at your Xmas dinner

The other one is saying get creative. Open the windows. Meet out outside.

Meet in the morning as you might get careless when having drink in the evening.

Omfg these people are bonkers and out off touch with reality

WouldBeGood · 23/11/2020 22:55

Who to vote for?

littlbrowndog · 23/11/2020 22:58

The righteous in Scotland are now moving amongst us and now finding their feet and getting on telly to speak their righteousness and getting paid for it

And getting government to agree to it

Idiots.

WouldBeGood · 23/11/2020 22:59

Is Devi righteous?

Dinnafashyersel · 23/11/2020 23:11

I do actually feel really sorry for the politicians when I hear the logic of the manic armchair security blanket rule makers. Then I remember it was Nicola who invented the rule about not going any further than your bladder could cope with - well seen she's just hit 50.

WouldBeGood · 23/11/2020 23:14

@Dinnafashyersel 😂 I’m 51 and happy to pee myself to get out and about 😂

Ah but she's never had weans to mess up her body.

Seriously I'm getting more and more angry with her. DH and I had a conversation this morning would we stay in Scotland if it gained independence. We'd consider our options.

Bikingbear · 23/11/2020 23:16

Maybe we should aask Santa for shewees🤣
