This is an ongoing thread for Scottish mumsnetters - or indeed non Scottish mumsnetters such as myself, to comment on ongoing covid matters pertinent to ourselves, in a hopefully not too partisan and friendly fashion.

😂

anon444877 · 28/11/2020 09:53

Re the song obviously! I hope no news means good news too.

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/11/2020 10:37

Just realised I left and returned to my council area and I'm a dirty 4.

I now know what the local youth are doing of an evening... racing round the local road network. Not many other normal cars on the road, just cars screaming about at twice the speed limit and not bothering to put their full beams off.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 28/11/2020 11:01

We've got a lot of that around us too@WaxOnFeckOff. Some wee fecker was revving a dune buggy for ages outside our house the other evening. That'll be the next thing, boy racers spreading it in their cars.

Saw this on twitter and thought of this thread.

Jason Leitch calendar anyone?

Envy - not envy

Oh no waxon. Really sorry to hear that. Hope he's OK this morning and can come home.

Love the song lyrics! Genius... I'm hum-singing "have yourself a shitty little Christmas" now. Must remember to do it out of earshot of DS.

It's far to early to consider that Iwillnever. Envy (not envy either). Though any time would be far too early. Boak.

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/11/2020 11:27

Loving the lyrics. 😂😂

And boak re the calendar.

Mr wax called. He's still to have scan and being treated as if its a dvt for now. Might know more later but he has no signal so had to come outside (after getting permission) to call me.

littlbrowndog · 28/11/2020 11:30

Aw hugs for you and mr wax

littlbrowndog · 28/11/2020 11:31

Virtual of course

IwishIwasyoda · 28/11/2020 11:52

Hello everyone. Feeling mightily pissed off with Government interference in all aspects of my life at the moment and the likelihood of extended school closures.

Mood was not helped by reading this article www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55107473 this morning and the quote from the report which made me feel I was living in the 1950s:
"Women carry the burden of creating and maintaining family traditions and activities at Christmas. Messaging should be supportive of women adapting traditions and encouraging those around them to share the burden and to be supportive of any alterations to adapt for Covid-19 restrictions."

Sorry please all free free to go back to making up song lyrics ...

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/11/2020 12:32

Oh I'm mighty pissed off too

littlbrowndog · 28/11/2020 12:36

Everyone I know is dead pissed off with it and mocking it.

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/11/2020 12:37

Yep same here, also people who were really bought into following everything are now just hacked off with the way they are being spoken to.

Bikingbear · 28/11/2020 12:48

The comment of women organising Christmas very patronising and very 1950s. But unfortunately I actually think it's true that women tend to be the organisers of Christmas. And I'm not saying men folk don't help but be 100% honest who sorts Christmas in your family?

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/11/2020 12:56

I think that's true but it was the patronising language and tone that got on my thrupneys

NotAnActualSheep · 28/11/2020 14:05

I agree. I think the idea is that as (in many, not all, families) "women" do all the planning, organising and actual work around Christmas, a lot of the weight will be on them to find a different way of doing things this year. So if we can't share a gravy boat or spoons, one person could serve out everyone's meal, for example. But if people then whinge "that's not how we usually do it" the "women" may feel pressured to just stick to the horrifically unsafe tradition of communal serving to keep everyone happy. Or, if I had anything to do with it, end up hurling the gravy over the whinger.

So I think the message was supposed to be talk as a family how you are going to do things, don't be afraid to try new things and don't leave it all up to the women and blame them if it is shit. But it came out as "women, sort it out - stop being martyrs and get everyone to help with the adapted traditions which you've come up with yourself" (to me, at least) which isn't a helpful message...

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2020 14:11

@Iwillneverbesatisfied I know.. I saw that and a bit about a strategically placed mask... 🤢🤢

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2020 14:11

@WaxOnFeckOff hope he’s ok

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 28/11/2020 14:12

nooooo! I didn't see that part! ewwwwww

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2020 14:15

Sorry... should have posted an advisory with that 😂

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/11/2020 14:15

Dinner in our family is pre dished as I know what everyone likes including who likes brown or white meat etc.

Extra gravy is in a boat and extras such as cranberry are self serve

Anyone wants seconds then they know where the kitchen is

Appreciate folk with extra guests might have to juggle more.

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/11/2020 14:22

Update for those I tested is that ultrasound was inconclusive, they want to do test with dye, he doesn't want to as he was very ill after a similar procedure 15 years ago. Currently stalemate and he's obvs still there as dvt in arm can be a serious thing.

Visitors not allowed, he has no signal or WiFi so wouldn't mind a book dropped off but no point if he's getting out. So now in limbo.

anon444877 · 28/11/2020 14:23

Ha if I was in charge of Christmas dinner it would exclusively be bung in the oven trays from a supermarket. Luckily dh knows this, I do all the Christmas organising, but he is in charge of the turkey dinner.

Dh does keep trying to get us to not have turkey. I can't entertain a Christmas dinner that isn't turkey, feels wrong. I'd eat a Christmas pudding too for the sake of it but I've caved to the melt in the middle chocolate pudding.

anon444877 · 28/11/2020 14:24

wax just read the update - I'm sorry that the ultrasound wasn't conclusive, your poor dh.

WouldBeGood · 28/11/2020 14:25

Oh, @WaxOnFeckOff that’s all a bit rubbish.

Maybe take a book over while it’s daylight? Though will inevitably ensure he’s released shortly after you get home
