@frasersmummy where on the app does it tell you that? I have it ticking away in the background and only looked at it for the first time today.

Am I right I’m thinking there are no travel restrictions in tier 3?

Advisories only?

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/10/2020 18:15

I don't think there are travel restrictions, just being told to avoid unless you need to - do those appear in the scottish tier 4? Can't remember.

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/10/2020 18:17

I think the new framework recommends against travel in/out of tier 3/4 areas unless for a whole list of reasons - work, shopping, education, medical, exercise etc

WouldBeGood · 25/10/2020 18:18

If it’s just recommended that’s ok.

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/10/2020 18:22

work, shopping, education, medical, exercise etc

Is that not all the reasons possible :o

WouldBeGood · 25/10/2020 18:24

I want to go away to more civilised places

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/10/2020 18:28

That reason should be included.

WouldBeGood · 25/10/2020 18:29

@WaxOnFeckOff yes!

I’ll go if it’s not against the law

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/10/2020 18:32

That's my current view. I will obey the law but everything else will be up for me to carry out my own risk assessment whilst respecting whoever i might be encountering.

WouldBeGood · 25/10/2020 18:33

Yep, me too.

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/10/2020 18:51

I saw something in the news earlier saying the police would be enforcing the no guising - afaik that is far from law? So how the hell can they enforce...

Tiers here

travel for level 3
"No non-essential travel into or out of the level 3 area
Exemptions for essential travel for work, education, shopping health
etc; outdoor exercise; weddings and funerals; and transit through
restricted areas"

Not clear if "law" or "guidance"

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/10/2020 19:01

Now I know I'm not known for my tolerance of scotgov, but have we really got to the point where they want to police guising or even actually suggest that people don't? I mean come on. I get that they want to control every fucking aspect of people's lives, but really?

It's been many years since I've been guising but I'm sorely tempted.

Tomorrowisanewday · 25/10/2020 19:06

Nicola Sturgeon said in her briefing on Wednesday (I think, the days are just merging into each other) that people should avoid guiding. Wasn't regulating against, but advising.....

Tomorrowisanewday · 25/10/2020 19:07

Guising, obvs. Flaming autocorrect!!

Bytheloch · 25/10/2020 19:08

Dentists of doom will be a v.popular costume this year. (too far?Grin)

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/10/2020 19:13

So, i'll set aside a lot of my feelings here, but in terms of guising, I think all that was required was perhaps a reminder about not having parties and that people should remember to follow distancing etc.

There was no need to tell people not to go guising and then if the threat of police supervision of that is true, then it's actually disgusting.

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/10/2020 19:14

@Bytheloch

Dentists of doom will be a v.popular costume this year. (too far?Grin)
There will be a generation of children that will have forgotten what a dentist is.
StatisticallyChallenged · 25/10/2020 19:15

That was my understanding, advising against it. But there was definitely a headline earlier saying the police would be enforcing it - damned if I can find it now! There's pumpkin trails etc near us, unless they happen to see actual doorknocking then families out in costume could easily be doing those. Are we really going to have the police following families with kids around to see if they knock on doors?

LizzieMacQueen · 25/10/2020 19:38

Haven't looked for the Police reference but here's John Swinney

October Becomes November Lockdown
WaxOnFeckOff · 25/10/2020 19:45

OOOhhh "Clear Advise". Fuck off. Tempted to ask them if I'm allowed to have curry for dinner tomorrow, or maybe asked every time I want to go to the loo.

NotAnActualSheep · 25/10/2020 19:45

I honestly don't understand the guising thing. Surely, that is a relatively safe activity... Small groups of children outside with an adult or 2, not going into people's houses, but ringing the doorbell, standing back, doing their bad joke/ adorable song or whatever to the householder at a safe distance, and taking a sweet. There can be ways of making sure the sweet handover is safe, granted (handing out with sufficiently scary gloves on?) and maybe getting an adult to do the doorbell ringing/ or having them followed around with hand sanitiser if really keen. But it seems less risky than an indoor party, or bonfires in people's gardens or whatever. It's allowed (nay, recommended) that people meet up and chat outside while socially distancing, which is effectively what is being done. And there is nothing that contravenes the regulations on numbers and households as children aren't covered by that. So I'm not sure what the police would have to go on? Walking around with intent to perform bad entertainment?

Alittlewornout · 25/10/2020 19:45

Do you think it is ok to leave a bowl of individually wrapped chocs/ sweets at the door with some hand gel?? No actual opening of the door?? Dh carves amazing pumpkins so we always get a wee flurry of families even though ours are long passed this stage.

NotAnActualSheep · 25/10/2020 19:48

Sorry, over 12s are limited to 6 people (probably including the householders, so maybe 3 or 4 guisers to be safe) , but don't have to be from only 2 households...

rookiemere · 25/10/2020 19:52

@Alittlewornout that's what I had planned to do, with a little sign to say I'd packaged them up 72 hours ago if people were particularly concerned. But sadly I don't think there will be any trick or treaters appearing. I've said to DH that we should try to stage a particularly gruesome outdoor scene with our Halloween tat to liven things up a bit at least.
