New thread as the last one was getting full. Feel free to discuss, moan, speculate on anything to do with Scottish schools and what may/not be happening.

I am very, very excited about going back to school (teacher). Am delighted to be seeing my pupils face to face again and al so keen to see colleagues. I am sure there will be problems we have to overcome but nothing beats teaching in a proper classroom with pupils in front of you.

Huge happy face here.

@Cismyfatarse that’s so nice to hear 😊

AudacityOfHope · 30/07/2020 18:34

That's lovely @Cismyfatarse

Also, excellent username Smile

If only optimism had some anti-viral properties.

Cismyfatarse1 · 30/07/2020 19:24

Enthusiasm can move mountains. Optimism is infinitely preferable to pessimism, especially as a teacher when you should be seeing the best in pupils, not highlighting the worst.

I would love some clarity about SQA. What are exam dates? Are there changes in courses / assessments etc?

It is always good to know what you are aiming for.

Mistressiggi · 30/07/2020 19:36

Why are you talking about seeing the best in pupils? Confused You know that has nothing to do with the point I was making.

You are indeed optimistic if you think the SQA will be any more forthcoming than usual!

I love the fact that I will be required to sit in a room with 6/7 x 30 people a day, many of whom are 15/16/17 with no protection, and yet have to wear a mask to wander round ASDA. Grin

I wonder what job @coco does? Does it involve spending extended period of time in a small room with 30+ other people, some of whom wipe their noses with their hands and then hand you their book, or who need their laces tied multiple times a day, or a hug cause they've cut their knee? I suspect not...

Just watched the BBC news and saw some secondary pupils in a school being taught Maths by Director of Education Maureen McKenna of Glasgow City Council?! Said they were secondary pupils who had fallen behind and were due to take Highers this year. Where on earth was this filmed? Where are these lucky pupils getting this extra tuition because my DS definitely needs this!!

And she was walking about their desks, keeping absolutely no distance between them. Very odd. Grin

I can only imagine, these maths classes are in the same place as all these summer holiday childcare clubs that apparently opened on 15th July (according to sg advisor on twitter) ... Not where I live there's not. No provision whatsoever.
