Just read an excerpt from her address today. I know not all of you will love her and I don’t think coronavirus has been handled perfectly, but she is an intelligent and likeable example of Scottish people, imo. I love the way she is dignified and avoids politicising everything, yet still is direct enough to comment on how ridiculous Boris can be:

Tom Gordon, from The Herald, points out that, in the prime minister's speech this morning, Boris Johnson emphasised the role of the union, calling it "an incredible partnership" that proved its worth during the pandemic. He asks what the first minister's response is considering she would like Scotland to be independent.

"Boris Johnson and I are very different kinds of people, very different personalities and I would, in a whole range of ways, choose not to emulate him and how he speaks and how he behaves and I'm sure he would choose not to emulate me in many respects," Nicola Sturgeon replies.

"I don't think you'll catch me very often leaping to the floor to do press-ups during a media interview, for example.

"In terms of the wider and future arguments about Scotland's constitutional future, people will make their own minds up on that and draw their own conclusions and part of the process they will go through is watching how the Scottish government conducts itself and how Boris Johnson conducts himself.

"My focus is on tackling this virus and any leader should have that as their central focus."

Blimey, my already lukewarm interest in the subject is diminishing by the second. I'm not 'going by' her appearances in press briefings. I'm commenting that she's better at them than Johnson.

vote how you like, yes even SNP, but do your research and get your facts right first before you pick a party.

That's my main message throughout this thread (and others).

Taking a step back now, until the debate becomes more sensible.

Confused so isn't that exactly "going by" her appearances in press briefings?

Anyway, unfortunately or fortunately, depends on how you look at it, everyone's vote counts the same regardless of how misguided and uneducated or how intelligent and aware they are - that's how it works.

So essentially, until someone decides to set up a system whereby you need to pass a test to gain voting rights, you don't need to make any effort, just listen to whichever sound bites you fancy and lamp a tick or cross in the box, job done.

I've reported the whole thread. Its horrible and its proving my argument about SNP supporters 100%.

I've reported the whole thread. It doesnt agree with my world view and therefore I think its horrible and its reaffirming the bias I have about SNP supporters 100%.

There you go fixed it for you Smile

The Jane Godley daily briefings are brilliant and I bet that's exactly what NS would love to say if only she could.

Frank! Get the door!

What about the fact that independence voters are laying claim to the
Saltire? Does independence support give them more right to use it?

No one has more of a right to use the flag, or more of a right to support (or not support) independence. Your ancestors are irrelevant.

@nextslideplease

I am descended from Robert the Bruce on my dad's side (as well as part Irish on his side), and I'm part German on my mums side.

In case anyone says I'm "anti scottish!".

I have more right to support independence (which I don't) and demand the blooming crown off Liz's head, than the FM and many other people in Scotland. I can even lay claim to the German monarchy if it were still around.

Your da could sell Avon for all the difference it makes to whether anyone has a “right” to support independence or not Hmm

The Jane Godley daily briefings are brilliant and I bet that's exactly what NS would love to say if only she could. Very funny. Especially Nicola's Pippa Dee outfits, her good clicky pen and the shoes that are fucking killing her. Another good watch is Theresa May's final speech as PM.

I only watch the Janey Godley daily briefings. I love her animal videos too. I’m going to have to find that Theresa May one!
