Has anyone been? Can you give me a fair review? Iv spent 140 quid treating family members who are visiting Sad

Apparently they are making tweaks to it after adverse reviews

My sister went last night. She was bloody furious, said it was awful she paid £140 for tickets.
I've noticed on a local FB page every second post is someone trying to sell their tickets.

RJnomore1 · 07/12/2019 13:37

My friend has tickets and she’s been so excited 😟

mrswx · 07/12/2019 13:42

It doesn't look good 🙈 we have tickets for next week, not sure if it's gonna be worth adding more money by going.

Wantarefund · 07/12/2019 13:46

I sold mine

PineappleDanish · 07/12/2019 13:51

Oh dear. I had heard such great things about Glasglow at the Botanics, DD went and loved in. So we bought Elfingrove tickets on the back of that.

We're not going until 30th though.

LouLouLoupee · 07/12/2019 14:11

It sounds bizarre.
Apparently Rudolph is a T-Rex and there was an elf that had its legs chewed off (all gory)
I’d definitely be managing expectations!

Wantarefund · 07/12/2019 14:37

I’ve also read Santa tells you to ‘bugger off’ at the end of a video. I’m no prude when it comes to swearing but Santa ... swearing ... it’s a no from me.

trumpisaflump · 07/12/2019 14:48

My friend went last night with her two girls and said it was lovely. She had no complaints at all. I’m going tomorrow so I’ll report back.

luckygreeneyes · 07/12/2019 14:50

We have tickets for tonight, not traipsing all the way to Glasgow in the rain now

CareOfPunts · 07/12/2019 14:54

When they first started advertising it and people were clamouring for tickets I didn’t bother, I had visions it would be crap and nothing like they were making out. Same as all these winter wonderland things you see in the media every year. I knew a few people who said GlasGLOW wasn’t up to much either.

I do feel sorry for people that have wasted their money on it but this really made me laugh

We went to Glasglow last year and it was crap. We have been to several of these things over the years including Enchanted Forest (obv this is the top tier of light shows) and then Electric Gardens (Botanic gardens in 2015) and electric Glen in Southside. I enjoyed all of them apart from GlasGlow and I had a feeling that Elfingrove would be the same. I feel sorry for anyone who's forked our a lot of money for tickets and doesn't end up enjoying it

Wantarefund · 07/12/2019 18:13

It sounds like maybe this should have been done at another time of year or instead of Glasglow and not marketed as a Christmas event. Obviously they’d have needed a different name though. I think people have latched on to the elf thing and expected Christmas Christmas Christmas which at this time of year is fair enough!

It’s a shame because itison had the power to put on an amazing Christmas grotto type event and they should have just done that instead.

Asterisktheknackered · 08/12/2019 12:02

Not looking good keep reported back anyone who goes Sad

needsomehelptoday · 08/12/2019 13:52

I'm really glad I didn't get tickets tbh.
Apparently there's 'naughty' entrance and a 'nice' entrance and an elf told some kids to go through the naughty entrance.
As an adult you can see it's a joke but I'd imagine some kids being really upset by that considering most children think being on the 'naughty' list means no presents.

needsomehelptoday · 08/12/2019 13:53

If anyone is looking for a nice Christmas event for next year then Santa's woodland experience in Balfron is lovely.

ParkheadParadise · 08/12/2019 14:03

Santa's woodland experience is brilliant.

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 08/12/2019 14:05

I looked at that for this year as well as Elfingrove and was too late to buy tickets. You really do need to be thinking about this stuff early don’t you.

I’d booked Elfingrove but was also still going to see Santa, we hadn’t had that in our heads as seeing Santa iykwim. Maybe people were merging the two and ending up disappointed.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 08/12/2019 15:45

To be honest, traipsing through the museum in the dark in itself is a pretty cool thing.

BUT:

The outdoor bit is a waste of time unless the weather is good/you're desperate for something to eat.
People are so rude and it would be very easy to lose a child because of folk barging in front of you.
Not everything is microphoned up- so a lot of the elfs you cant see for the crowd and you cant hear either. Usually we would be patient and wait for crowds to disperse and do next 'showing' at a better viewpoint... but it was far too busy for that.
ITS A MUSEUM-OMG DO NOT BRUSH YOUR WET JACKET UP AGAINST THE PAINTINGS. STOP TOUCHING THINGS. DO NOT SIT ON THE EXHIBITS.

I viewed some pretty poor behaviour last night.

While DD enjoyed herself it was because of the work/enthusiasm we put in because there was plenty to spoil it.

Also fyi: there's no gory elf anymore and Santa isn't cheeky either.

carries · 08/12/2019 16:21

Going tomorrow evening. As long as the kids enjoy it! It seemed like a good idea when I booked it. Thankfully it’s to be dry tomorrow evening!

trumpisaflump · 08/12/2019 21:21

I'm just out and on my way home. I really liked it! The lights were amazing and as someone else said it was pretty awesome being in Kelvingrove in the dark. The best part for my DS was seeing the rocket blasting to outer space to make sure you see this. The food outside is good.
It's a bit eccentric and bizarre in some areas I guess. I didn't really get the warm, fuzzy Christmas feeling you would expect but I'm still glad I went.

Asterisktheknackered · 08/12/2019 22:43

Thanks trump you've made me a bit more optimistic Grin
