This morning I threatened to set alarm clocks for 8am 'to practise' for next week Grin

DD is going into P3 Shock

She has saved up all her birthday money to go to Smiggle so we will be braving that later on this week and then we are ready.

Mine don't go back till the 22nd. DS1 going into P6, DS2 into P3 and DD starting school nursery. Still to buy school shoes!

OhFuds · 08/08/2017 16:37

My schools are 22nd too, DS starting P1 and I bought everything he needs before July (apart from shoes and gym shoes). My other DS is S3 and haven't got a thing in for him yet as I really can't be arsed trailing round the shops looking for the "right" trousers, I was going to order online from M&S but he's at the awkward skinny, tall stage so I need to get him to try things on.

I need to get the DC's into a decent bedtime and waking up time.

ClaireBRFraser · 08/08/2017 16:49

The 22nd?! You must have finished late in June too? Or will finish later next year I suppose.

We broke up 30th June.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/08/2017 18:31

22nd here too. Still loads to do (DSs are S6 and S5) but have trousers and shirts in but yet to be tried on. DS1 away DofEing next week.

WeAllHaveWings · 08/08/2017 19:00

ds starts back on 18th into S2.

Shoes eye watering over priced trainers ordered today as they didn't have his size in JD sports so need to pick up tomorrow. Jumpers/Jacket/School bag from last year still good (bought big!), new shirts and trousers in bags somewhere waiting to be dug out and ironed. Actually managed to get skinny trousers that fit him this year so he's happy!

Early morning waking practice, or at least no xbox till the wee small hours, starts slowly over the weekend then early nights with a bit of book reading for the first time in 6 weeks/early mornings starting Sunday night.

Migraleve · 08/08/2017 19:05

We have everything except one pair of shoes.

No practice wake ups or early nights here though, we maximise the holidays and then struggle through the first 3 days back until the weekend Grin

readyforno2 · 08/08/2017 19:09

We're ready... Ds1 going into P6 and Ds2 starting P1.
We go back in the 15th. Sadly, this means I have to go back to work too Sad Term time work is tough Grin

ilovetocook · 08/08/2017 19:14

Next Wednesday here. P7 and 2yr. Just a bag to buy and a blazer. It's new in this year for juniors and because only moved schools 2 weeks prior to summer holidays had no chance to get one. I've been up at 7am is all holidays!

dementedpixie · 08/08/2017 19:23

Mine go back on Thursday 17th. Dd into S3 and ds into P7. Ds's indoor shoes arrived today. Already had his bag. Got dds shoes at the weekend from schuh (10% discount with young Scot card). She is reusing last year's bag. Got new shirts and a couple of skirts for dd. Ds reusing his shorts from the end of last year. Have been buying plastic popper wallets and checking what pencils/ rubbers, we need

Well, I have survived the special circle of hell that is Smiggle. Ye gads. DD is over the moon with all of her matching accessories I will kill her if she loses the water bottle

Good luck Euphemia!

DS starts P1 next week. He and I are both excited! Got everything except name tags.

cazzyg · 09/08/2017 21:25

Not back until the 23rd here. I'm leaving the smiggle trip until after just about every other area is back!

DD is going into S4. She's spent £40 on her uniform including £6 shoes Hmm and £32.95 on pens Hmm. Could be worse - neigbours DD going into S1 has spent £50 on makeup.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 09/08/2017 22:19

Too late Euphemia I already ordered them! I'm gonna spend an evening sewing them on like my mum did for me.

What is Smiggle? Some kind of trendy pencil case shop?

OhFuds · 09/08/2017 23:13

When we had our P1 induction meeting with the headteacher she asked the parents to aim for plain boring pencil cases/rubbers etc as Smiggle things caused too many tears when things went missing. At the end of the meeting she did laugh and say I'll see you's in August with probably everything from the Smiggle shop Grin.

Unlimited I still sew on name tags and in true old fashioned Mum tradition remove and resew them as the DC grow. DD1 just got her S5 blazer and resewed her name tag on herself. It is the same one she had in P1 complete with cartoon character. Smile

Our primary gives out the same advice as Euphemia re pencils etc.

Oh yes! P3 and P4 here

Except i cant find well, they're now all merging into one and i cba nowdecent bags and no time to go shopping!

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/08/2017 11:37

I just write the names on the label with a biro and redo as required. Dss have the same first initial so in the early years DS1 would have First name initial (gap) then surname and when the clothes were passed to DS2 we'd wrire the rest of his first name in the gap :)

That lasted until about P3ish, after that they were the same size anyway so no passing stuff down :(

howabout · 10/08/2017 13:16

Just dragged my S4 and S5 round the shops in a fruitless bag search. Worst of it was I knew before we set out there wouldn't be anything which met with their approval. Teenagers grrr.

PoppyPopcorn · 10/08/2017 13:39

I have one going into S3, one into S1 and one into P5. Oldest and youngest sorted, they are very easy and unfussy. Middle one has been a nightmare over shoes. Still unresolved.

I am VERY ready for them to go back.
