Are you happy?

We've gone from SNP to Tory by a massive 10,000 votes. i voted Tory for the first time to out SNP. I have no interest in indyref2. I had to vote tactically and I think 10,000 others may have done the same.

I think it was a protest to SNP tbh Scotland voted no and I don't think people want i ndyref2. Ruth Davidson is an engaging leader imo and gives Nicola a hard time even if tory seats are in Westminster and not holyrood

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 09/06/2017 08:54

A protest with a high cost.

squishysquirmy · 09/06/2017 08:55

Stayed SNP. I voted Labour, but am quite happy with that as I like our MP, even though I couldn't bring myself to vote for her due to the threat of a second independence referendum.
It is a shame that so many constituencies near us turned blue, but it could have been so much worse.

AnarchyKitty · 09/06/2017 08:56

Woke up to Tory here. I agree with Chattermummy, I'm shocked at the number of Tory seats in Scotland. I think NS should have held off on Inde Ref 2 until Brexit when things would be clearer.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 09/06/2017 08:58

She had already said she was going to hold out until terms were clear

whatashower · 09/06/2017 09:00

"Emphatic endorsement of Conservatism in Scotland props up battered Tory government after major English losses, notably in London and the South"

Confused ....when you wake up to a parallel universe......

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 09/06/2017 09:00

Yes. Not impressed.

Nyx · 09/06/2017 09:07

Anarchy, that had always been the plan - Indy ref when the terms of brexit are clear. It's just the unionist parties banging on about it as if it were imminent that has made people think the way you do.

My area's still SNP.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 09/06/2017 09:09

Fools

IWantABlueBanana · 09/06/2017 09:12

Tories, as bloody usual round here. Doubt it will ever change!

VeryButchyRestingFace · 09/06/2017 09:28

Went from SNP to Labour in my area. I voted SNP but am very sanguine about the swing.

Anyone but the fucking Tories.

Belindabelle · 09/06/2017 10:11

We stayed SNP with reduced majority. I voted Labour and will never understand why people let the Tories get in. The SNP still have a strong majority. I hope the people who voted tactically are happy with the outcome but I think they may regret handing the Conservatives 12 seats.

AnarchyKitty · 09/06/2017 10:14

Yes. Sorry. I didn't explain it very well.
I voted SNP.

NoLotteryWinYet · 09/06/2017 10:18

it was a good night for Scotland overall - the SNP have had a bit of a check on independence, Scotland has a better mix of tory/lib/lab/snp westminster MPs and harder for the SNP to talk about themselves as if they represent all of Scotland. I'm disappointed Edinburgh North & Leith stayed SNP hold by 1600 votes and won with 34% of the vote.

Can we have PR for westminster? Surely this election shows we need it.

whatashower · 09/06/2017 11:19

There will be the usual handwringing about prop rep, but doubt any real momentum for electoral reform with Brexit overshadowing everything.

I understand Scottish moderates and/or unionists desperately wanted to clip SNP wings on indyref, but I struggle to believe the marked swing to the right was emphatic ideological support for hard Brexit, foxhunting, the dementia tax et al.

Perhaps the hung parliament and some pressure from the more centrist Scottish conservatives will at least soften some of the harder right wing manifesto commitments.

Interesting times. It just didnt feel like a good night for Scotland for me as I suspect a lot of people must have voted against their hearts and beliefs just to avoid another independence referendum, which I dont feel very edifying or democratic.

Teddy6767 · 09/06/2017 11:20

Went from conservative to labour seat in my area which im very happy about

PatriciaHolm · 09/06/2017 11:32

We live in one of the safest conservative seats in the country despite our MP being an incompetent expense cheating nincompoop. It would take a mass extinction of about 65% of the local population to oust him.

PatriciaHolm · 09/06/2017 11:34

Ah but not in Scotland. Sorry, failed to notice in active convos where this was! Slinks off....

FortyFacedFuckers · 09/06/2017 11:34

SNP remain but with less than 200 votes more than Labour

whatashower · 09/06/2017 11:40

😀patricia stops frantically googling to find safest tory seat in Scotland I didnt know existed

ttlshiwwya · 09/06/2017 12:06

SNP although only 360 votes separated SNP/Tories/Labour.
I would have been happy with either SNP or Labour policy wise. However gave my vote to SNP as she has worked hard for the area (and previous Labour MP didn't).

whatashower · 09/06/2017 12:40

Talking about narrow. Lanark and Hamilton East.
266 vote majority for SNP on ridiculously close three way split.
Hope you turned up and voted.

What was your election result?
whatashower · 09/06/2017 12:44

Delayed x post on same constituency I suspect. Sorry I was fannying about with the screengrab forever

cdtaylornats · 09/06/2017 13:51

insancerre - not a fan of Democracy then>

GherkinSnatch · 09/06/2017 14:07

SNP hold - but vastly reduced majority, due to Labour resurgence. Hopefully next time Labour will take it.
