No funding for new child named person scheme

Apparently some authorities have no extra cash for this scheme.
Our LA has sacked all the Teaching Assistants, I wonder what else will be cut to fund this new legislation? It sounds a half baked plan to me.

I thought GTC talked like he was straight out the pages of the broons. understood everything he said though, maybe that's because I'm from the east coast? I didn't think sleekit was an east coast word though, I thought everyone used it... maybe I'm just old LOL...

OneMagnumisneverenough · 29/04/2016 14:39

Seems a bit hmm to use local words to prove how Scottish you are

GTC is a character btw - he isn't a real person so is deliberately using those words and accent as part of the character - he actually slipped up a few times and had to correct himself.

The actor is currently in The A word and has been in Fresh Meat too - I think he is Greg McHugh

MrsJayy · 29/04/2016 14:53

I cant stand GTC i get the cringe everytime he opens his mouth I know he is meant to sound like an east coaster but its lke chalk down a blackboard

MrsJayy · 29/04/2016 14:54

Exaggerated East coaster*

peggyundercrackers · 29/04/2016 15:11

mrsjayy I used to work with someone many years ago who spoke just like GTC and yes it was painful.

MrsJayy · 29/04/2016 17:26

Òh jeez 😲

cdtaylornats · 04/05/2016 11:58

Police Scotland are now saying that the process involved in the named person scheme is delaying the removal of at risk children leaving them vulnerable to more criminal acts.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 04/05/2016 12:02

cdtaylornats - can you say where you saw that please??? would be keen to see.

peggyundercrackers · 04/05/2016 12:08

That's nearly a year old Shock Do you have anything more current?

In fact, just found this:

peggyundercrackers · 05/05/2016 16:30

well ive found out some more information about the NP legislation. It would seem there is a robust complaints procedure

www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2016/152/contents/made

there is legislation about the qualifications the person needs to fulfil the role of NP

www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2016/16/contents/made

and there is a final document about what should go into a childs plan

peggyundercrackers · 05/05/2016 16:59

sorry pressed the button too soon.

cdtaylornats · 05/05/2016 18:30

It doesn't say what the complaints procedure will be, just that a minister will put one in place sometime. Its like buying a car and being told it will have a good warranty, but you might be told what it is after you buy it.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 05/05/2016 21:12

My LA apparently has an award winning policy on bullying. But it doesn't implement it. Therefore, it is worse than useless. Worse, because it pretends that there is a system for complaints. Which there is - in theory - but isn't in actuality.

The NP scheme is clearly similar.

This is what the money is being wasted on.
