Hi all.

As title says - strange question I am hoping someone will have the answer to!

I was at junior school in Edinburgh from 1976-1983 n I recall vividly getting milk n a biscuit each day n therein lies my question. Did anyone receive n do u remember the biscuits?

They were square n caramel flavoured. No layer or filling etc, the actual biscuit was toffee/caramel flavour. My mum remembers them so u could obviously get them in shops at the time too, she thinks they were simply called caramel squares but when u google that u get millionaires shortbread type references.

These little squares were lush!! I live in England now tho always look for them in shops when home but to no avail. Has anyone a clue? Have I made the whole thing up? Would love to find them again if not!

Thank u x

Oh that's a twist G1ve . Must ask my mum if she actually had to pay for mine, thinking about it ...

Did anyone buy the malted milks or did everyone run to the chocolatey choice?

I started primary in Edinburgh in 1978 and remember both the milk and the mouthwash (my mum still has a Christmas tree decoration I made that's two wee bells made from
mouthwash cups!) but no biscuits.

My mum was a primary teacher - I can ask her if you like?

WeAllHaveWings · 30/08/2015 22:51

North Ayrshire '72-'80 triangle cartons of room temp milk and no biscuits.

goldglittershitter · 30/08/2015 22:54

Oh please ask ur mum, Kathy , that would be fab!

I'm sorry that both u n WeAll did not receive any biscuits. They were bloody lovely.

The biscuits sound nice op.
Would the mouthwash have been fluoride treatment?

SingingSands · 31/08/2015 01:24

No biscuits for us in Glasgow.
I didn't drink the milk, it was always left in the sun. I just pretended to drink it, then poured it down the sink, pretending I was sad I didn't have time to finish it... boak.

Maladicta · 31/08/2015 01:54

Yes it was Carla, foul foul stuff. I was at Caarick Knowe, where were you lot?

goldglittershitter · 31/08/2015 10:18

We didn't get biscuits, just milk at primary school.

BTW is generally isn't nettiquette to use text speak on a web forum.

goldglittershitter · 31/08/2015 10:56

Sorry Bunbaker , another one without the biscuits! N am happy to defy netiquette n type as I type, thank u.

I never had them with milk :( but do you mean these?

KathyBeale · 31/08/2015 16:38

O. M. G - MY teacher was Miss MacKenzie! We moved in P3 (to London, where we lived in Mackenzie Road, which I thought was AMAZING!). We lived in Broomfield Crescent in Corstorphine. I think we were there at the same time - did you start in 1978? Does that mean we were in the same class?

goldglittershitter · 31/08/2015 16:48

Ah thank u tabulah, I remember those well, school dinner yumminess! But no these were actual biscuits, similar to the Lotus ones but square, sweeter n crumblier.

Yup we would have been!!! That was the year with the Leask twins...
We lived in the grounds of Gogarburn as both parents lived there.

KathyBeale · 31/08/2015 18:40

How strange! I remember a few people from then. I'll message you...

WankerDeAsalWipe · 31/08/2015 20:55

We only had biscuits at nursery but they were shaped like a flower with a hole in the centre that you could poke your finger in.

kua · 31/08/2015 22:14

Nope, no biccies here in South Edinburgh, just the warm milk. Though I also don't remember having cartons just the bottles. Bleurgh

MuddlePuddle · 31/08/2015 23:01

OMG! The mouthwash! I used to feel sorry for the woman that had to pour all the little cups of spat out mouthwash into her bucket -barf-

I was in Oxgangs btw

cazzyg · 01/09/2015 03:55

West Lothian and no biscuits, just warm milk.

I remember the fluoride mouthwash too. Every Friday morning. I used to make a beeline for the cup with the smallest amount in it. Vile stuff!
