DS1 is now on study leave and has his first two N5's this week - Graph Comm on Thursday and History on Friday. He's finally settled down to some study although he got A's for both those prelims so the stress hasn't started in earnest yet. Anyone else?

Higher music is tomorrow.

dotdotdotmustdash · 06/05/2015 13:31

My autistic Ds went in this morning to sit AH Computing. His sister was waiting for him afterwards and he came out with a Deputy Head to meet her. Apparently he was given the Higher paper by mistake (He got an A band1 for it last year). He had no money for lunch and he was going to have to sit the correct paper this afternoon. I doubt he would have even mentioned his need for food to them.

chocoluvva · 06/05/2015 14:26

Aww. dotdot I hope someone thought to give him something to eat. If not and his mark is disappointing perhaps you can appeal. What a shame.

kua · 06/05/2015 20:13

Aw,* Dot*, hope things went well for him this afternoon.

dotdotdotmustdash · 06/05/2015 21:01

It's all ok. They did give him some lunch and he said the first exam was a good warm-up for the 2nd. Apparently the Invigilators had him listed as being a candidate for the Higher paper, so it was an error made before today.

Now my Dd has horrendous diarrhoea and vomiting and she's due to sit her Higher Music exam tomorrow afternoon. I don't know if she'll be able to or not. I wish this month was over!

kua · 06/05/2015 21:15

Glad that it turned out ok for your DS..

Oh god, fingers crossed that after a good nights sleep, she'll be OK.

dotdotdotmustdash · 06/05/2015 21:35

Thanks Kua I hope so too, but we'll have to decide in the morning whether to tell the school or just take her in and not mention it, and obviously hope she doesn't throw up all over the place! It might just be a bit distracting for the others.

chocoluvva · 07/05/2015 11:17

Very glad your DS got on okay in the end.

How horrible for your DD. Is she feeling better today? (DD mentioned that someone she knows was vomiting yesterday too.

dotdotdotmustdash · 09/05/2015 09:13

Hi Chocoluvva. The school were very helpful and gave her a separate room near a disabled loo. I came home from work early, raised her from the couch, drove her to school and waited for her. When she came home she returned to the couch and slept for the rest of the day. I felt really sorry for her as she obviously felt poorly but at least she managed to sit the exam.

chocoluvva · 09/05/2015 12:38

Your poor DD. That sounds awful. Hope she's feeling better now.

DS was most indignant that the nat 5 music asked 2 questions about identifying voices btw. Especially as one of the voices was either bass or baritone. (He thought it was too high to be a bass)

weasleybreeder · 13/05/2015 11:12

English tomorrow for my DS, it's definitely not his strongest subject. He has worked but a last gasp over the last few days, hope that it's enough!

kua · 13/05/2015 18:29

Same here Weasley. English is the one subject that DS is stressed about. I think it's the fear that they may have chosen a text/play etc that may not entirely suit the question. So DS says..

TBH I have no clue, the subject has changed quite considerably since I did it back in the day. So, I've been no help.Confused

Behooven · 13/05/2015 20:34

Biology Higher today, DS seemed quite calm after it so fingers crossed Smile

AssembleTheMinions · 13/05/2015 20:48

Another biology higher here too. Dd1 said it went very well, hoping English goes as well on Friday.

Behooven · 13/05/2015 22:15

Same here minions

tilliebob · 14/05/2015 06:49

English today - hope they all do well. It's one of DS' best subjects so I'm hoping he doesn't flunk this one. I don't think he's exactly setting the world on fire with these exams Sad.

ds was quite happy with the Nat5 English but who knows...his prelims weren't too great but my dad died the week before so he wasn't really in the studying mindset (and I wasn't in the supportive mum state of mind either).

Lidlfix · 14/05/2015 16:54

Nat 5 English paper was good, essay questions matched well to just about any poem or prose. DD2 was overjoyed to see her first choice poem for the essay was right there in full for a Scottish Text question. Hope Higher doesn't bring any surprises!

weasleybreeder · 14/05/2015 17:19

DS delighted English is over (as is his Mum!). He thought it went well, critical essay really matched his 2nd choice poem and he was also delighted to see it in full! Having a night off studying then back to it as he has 3 next week.

kua · 14/05/2015 18:38

Positive feedback from DS as well on the English Nat 5.

tilliebob · 14/05/2015 19:44

DS1 thought it was fine. Bloody hope so as it's one of his best subjects. He's got French next Friday and then Chemistry left.

Four down and four to go. Stress levels seem to be on the wane now that English has passed.

Behooven · 15/05/2015 00:41

English Higher tomorrow. everything crossed for this one, so much hard work and effort has gone into studying.

AssembleTheMinions · 16/05/2015 09:36

English higher was 'ok' she thinks she has hopefully got the grade she needs for it. Long wait until 4/8 though.

Maths higher on Wednesday looming.

Annunziata · 17/05/2015 13:33

Anyone else dreading Maths? I get cold sweats thinking of it.

DD is not mathematically minded at all, poor darling. She did really well in the Int 2 last year but we'd be over the moon with a pass for this.

The older dc have been taking turns to tutor her but I'm giving them till 4pm tonight and then I'm putting her in a nice bath and letting her relax.
