Who has teens starting exams this week?

DS1 is now on study leave and has his first two N5's this week - Graph Comm on Thursday and History on Friday. He's finally settled down to some study although he got A's for both those prelims so the stress hasn't started in earnest yet. Anyone else?

Well eldest teen is down in the mouth about his N5 graph comm today. History tomorrow - which is his best subject so please God it goes better Confused

Awh Tillie that's not so good. Hope his confidence isn't dented too much with another exam tomorrow. DD2 has Nat 5 History tomorrow and it's her fave - she needs a strong pass to progress to Higher and has dyslexia, hopefully her time added on will help. Maybe by the time it's DD4 I'll be less anxious.

RJnomore · 30/04/2015 17:53

Dd was in a bit of a flap about graphics too but now she's calmed down she's realised she's done ok. She only needs 2 marks for a pass and she's confident she got 2 marks haha.

This is more stressful than doing exams myself.

Behooven · 30/04/2015 18:10

DS says a girl in his class was in tears as she realised she had answered both optional questions instead of selecting 1 after the mandatory.

He feels ok about his own so fingers crossed.

BloodyDogHairs · 30/04/2015 19:38

Aw what a wee shame behooven

My dd says hers went good, she said something about getting a B so she only needed half a mark for a pass.

HairyPotter · 30/04/2015 20:09

My dn wasn't too happy after nat5 graphic com either. They were all checking to make sure that they hadn't been given the higher paper by mistake Grin

Dd1 has higher history tomorrow and instead of revising, she's playing Minnie the Moocher on the sax. Which is nearly the same thing isnt it Hmm

Mrsjayy · 30/04/2015 20:10

Do they do portfolios for the Nats?

wigglybeezer · 30/04/2015 20:17

I am having a year off exams thanks to DS leaving school before Christmas rather than face Highers this year, however this has ruined the family ione child sitting exams per year quota for next year as ds1 & 2 will be sitting Nat 5s at the same time now.

Lidlfix · 30/04/2015 21:22

Most subjects have a Folio, assignment or other assessed piece of coursework for Nat 5. Any particular subject?

RJnomore · 30/04/2015 21:26

Hairy, DDs friends mum is a graphics teacher and she said she thought the nat5 paper was harder than the higher this year.

tilliebob · 01/05/2015 11:30

Am waiting to hear how History went....doubt he's switched his phone back on yet. Or maybe it's not cool to text your mum when you're off to Subway with your mates?! Confused

ds had graphics yesterday too. He had done loads of revision and was quite confident until he saw the paper...yep apparently a few of them turned back to the front cover to make sure they'd not been given the Higher! Ah well it's done now...physics next for us.

tilliebob · 01/05/2015 13:50

Apparently history today "was fine" which is my eldest's code for "easy". Roll on physics next Tuesday, he'll need to eat and sleep it in order to get a good mark Shock

chocoluvva · 04/05/2015 21:19

Ds is doing eight nat 5s; the norm for his school. Next year the pupils will do seven nat 5s as the norm.

History was "fine - easier than the prelim". Hope it doesn't give him false confidence for the next lot. Physics tomorrow.

English and chemistry are his dodgy subjects.

tilliebob · 05/05/2015 06:34

Eek physics today. Eldest teen is no scientist. Then a break of over a week until English - his best subject along with History. He can spend that time looking at French and Chemistry Confused

Only music tomorrow here this week.

She's very relaxed about it.

chocoluvva · 05/05/2015 08:32

The dreaded chemistry indeed.

DS is super disorganised - I've just made sure he knows exactly when the physics exam is starting and finishing.

chocoluvva · 05/05/2015 08:37

DS has music this week too. He's very relaxed about it too - except for questions that ask whether the singer is a tenor/baritone/bass or alto/soprano. DD says that bass parts are often grumpy and if it's screechy it'll be a soprano! But if it's a baritone it's just question of luck....

weasleybreeder · 05/05/2015 18:43

DS had physics nat 5 today, thought it was okay. Music next which he is not taking on to S5 so his focus now is English and Chemistry are these are his hardest. He is still pretty laid back though, wish he was a bit more concerned!

kua · 05/05/2015 19:07

DS also had physics today and thought it was "fine". Read into that what you may.

Currently studying for Chemistry. Asked me to test him on the learning outcomes, which have identified some gaps of which he is currently going over.

He is pretty laid back as well though worries more over the written papers ie English, Geography etc

tilliebob · 05/05/2015 19:08

DS wasn't overly delighted with physics today Shock. He's got nothing until English now which is his best subject along with history. He thinks he can "chill" for a few days but he needs to focus on French and Chemistry now. I'm having nightmares that he ends up only passing the damn history and English Blush

CHOCO - meant to say your post made meGrin

kua · 05/05/2015 23:19

God help you and me Tillie, if your chemistry knowledge is anything like mine!

RJnomore · 06/05/2015 08:22

Can someon confirm music is Friday and not today please???

chocoluvva · 06/05/2015 09:16

Music is on Friday.
