If you had a rich partner, or too risky?

I took 5 years off work when my kids were small and felt no change at all in the dynamic of our relationship. However I'm a preschool teacher and husband has a big fancy job with a great wage so we were never on a par career wise anyway. All our money is, and has always been shared. Didn't feel risky to me at all.

I have, but I didn’t have much of a choice. DD has ASD and when she was little it was easy to work, but when she hit 13 it all changed. She couldn’t cope socially anymore and would constantly invent illnesses to get sent home from school. If it wasn’t that it was appointments at the GP or psychologists as her mental heath deteriorated. It just became impossible to work and care for her. DH earns x12 what I do, so I gave up work. I was hoping to have gone back by now (she’s 19) but she’s still struggling, although better than she was. But I’m over 50, a woman and work in IT, I doubt anyone will hire me now. So not sure what I’ll do when I can go back?

Yes - been a SAHM for 15 years - but I have my own income too so not completely dependent on my husband.
