Morning! Oh the joys of DH's working weekend. Up,showered, dressed. Trying to convince the DC that they don't need more biscuits (daddy bribed them while I was showering). Then it's off for haircuts for the boys, opticians for the twins as they've both stretched a pair of their glasses out stupidly. I may have to brave a supermarket with all 4 DC in tow as I'm sure we're low on milk. (Normally do online shopping so I don't have to take DC with me). Then it will be trying to keep the house reasonably tidy, washing uniforms and keeping the children from killing each other until Dh gets home at 6.

In hoping the weather stays dry as the big two at least can be let out the front to play on their bikes relatively unsupervised. And their friends from neighbouring houses will be out too.

We're off to Sat morning band practice in a bit
ds plays the trumpet and dd the flute
It's a community band of all ages and they put on shows at summer fetes etc. so lots to like!
I always take the scenic route across the Fens and listen to Alan Titchmarsh on Classic FM on the way
Then I have a couple of hours milling about one of the Fenland market towns whilst the DC are at band. Sometimes go for an all day breakfast in the cafe and/or pop into the library to read a few magazines. Possibly buy some veg or flowers from the market stalls. Get tempted in a quaint old antique shop or more likely pick up some second hand book from the charity shop - sometimes to browse through in the cafe
Saturday morning seems to have sorted itself quite nicely here!

WinterBabyof89 · 23/05/2015 08:52

juggling your morning sounds lovely! Jealous of flower/veg shopping on market stalls..

My DH also works weekends.. Our 'weekends' are Tues/Weds but for the next few weeks DH has booked a chunk of flying lessons so he can get his private pilots licence in the next couple of months.. So that'll be fun..
DS only goes to nursery two days a week Term time (grant hours) but will be off for the next two weeks (half term & additional week due to funding)...Fun, fun, fun!
Hopefully I can harass my parents today - see what they're up to Grin

Do we have any crafty types out there? I'm a lover of knitting & cross stitch.. Dabbled in sewing but didn't love it instantly - will persevere though as I'm sure that will be a handy skill to have as the little ones get older..

Lovely to read what you're all doing with your days :)

This is nice. Sahm here. Wine

maroonedwithfour · 23/05/2015 09:00

Im going to haul my lazy ass off here and take my little ones dd3 a d ds1 to the creche so I can go to the gym. Dh can have a bit of a break, although dd1 a d dd2 will be around.

Then its blitz the house time.

Shodan · 23/05/2015 09:10

Ooh. A shiny new topic just for us.

I like it.

It's comfy, homey and yet not too pristine.

Ds2 has just decided he's 'into' all that Smiggle stuff, so we're going to have a look at one of the shops and see if it's 'Worth All That Money Just For A Pencil Case'.

Then it's time to shift all the winter stuff into the loft and bring down the summer stuff. Oh joy Grin

Arkkorox · 23/05/2015 09:10

Hello

Please can I join in? Very new SAHM to 5 month old dd

RosesAreOverated · 23/05/2015 09:27

Morning, lovely thread did the wohm thing but now a sahm to five. Been up since six painting body art on my ds, off to Comic-Con. Off to do housework and referee the bloody battles.

Zippidydoodah · 23/05/2015 09:34

Juggle- your Saturday morning sounds bloody wonderful! Enjoy!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 23/05/2015 10:09

Ooooh Juggling, we're fen-landic too :)

dingit · 23/05/2015 11:18

Morning. Just come back from my Burlexcersise class. Grin I'm going to ache like buggery in the morning. DH has gone cycling, two teen dc just got up.
Winter, I'm a wannabe crafter. I have a 15 year old cross stitch project, and I'm trying to teach myself to crochet. But my true love is Art, especially animal portraits ( sometimes people)

Well those plans went well .

notadoctor · 23/05/2015 16:09

Just saying hello! Officially, I am actually WAHM (I write, part-time) but as I left my job job primarily to be at home and spend more time with my DC I think I self-identify more as a SAHP. My DC are 3.5yo and 14mo and go to nursery 15hrs per week. I'm also very lucky to have my parents just around the corner and we all hang out there once a week...

JugglingFromHereToThere · 23/05/2015 16:17

Was a nice morning in Fenland, thanks all ...

DS and I found a milkshake cafe on the corner of the market street after band and ds was delighted with his Lion bar milkshake - he's just the right age at 13 to appreciate such a place - told his sister all about it when we got home (she was a bit tired after first 2 weeks of GCSE's so opted for a lie-in instead)

And Alan Titchmarsh played the Champagne Polka for anyone going to or planning a wedding this summer which brought a tear to my eye with noises looking good for the Yes campaign from the Irish referendum Smile

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 23/05/2015 16:52

Arkkorox - of course you may! Welcome :) Thanks

I think WAHPs may fit better here than WOHPs, tbh, although it depends. For a while there, we had a bit of a "quiche" thread running on one of the boards, back in 2008/9 when I was first around an actually was a WAHM. But I don't know how many there are now, or whether it would warrant its own board/topic. My job involved appointment times and people coming to the house though, so less of the self-discipline to actually do the jobs you need to was required, as it was forced upon me! I'll go back to it when DS2 goes to pre-school.

springtimemama That sounds nice, cosybaby snuggles.Smile

I cane back from gym with my little ones, dh made a lovely lunch and I went for afternoon nap! Bliss.

Tonight, home made curry made by Dh and xfactor with the dcs.Brew

howabout · 23/05/2015 17:13

I am a crafty type Smile. Did you know you can get 12 kilos of modelling clay for under a tenner from Rapid - beats playdough any day. Went to our local museum for a fun evening sketching stuffed animals with DD1 last weekend. Cutting out dress pattern for DD2 to sew for DD3 this weekend. I haven't got round to investing in left handed dressmaking scissors for her yet, so she can't do it herself. Crochet just needs loads of practise to get the tension right. We are on a break from orchestra rehearsals just now as they stop for the summer.

CakeUpWall · 23/05/2015 17:32

Just sticking my head around the door to see if I like it before committing...

Yep, it's ok I reckon. Smile

Like Juggling, I'm a SAHP to teens. I hate the fact that I feel I have to justify my existence to folk. (too often Sad) What they don't realise is that we, as a family, wouldn't be in the position we are today (quite good actually) if I wasn't a SAHP. But I don't want to have to embark upon lengthy explanations regarding this to any judgemental arse who feels in some way superior to me. And we don't claim any benefits to support my 'lifestyle choice,' thanks for asking.

And breathe...

CakeUpWall · 23/05/2015 17:34

Bloody hell. Sorry everyone, I've already tarnished the shiny new topic by getting all ranty. But at least I've got it off my ample chest. Grin

dingit · 23/05/2015 18:11

Cakeup, are you me? I can often be heard ranting the same thing. So nice to hear someone who feels the same

maroonedwithfour · 23/05/2015 19:17

Oo cake rant away. I have similar annoying comments about my nana naps. Never mind the fact I have 4 dcs, 2 yongest still wake at night, plus very little family help, a dh who works long hours and a health condidtion. Hmmand breath.

CakeUpWall · 23/05/2015 19:50

dingit & marooned Thanks
