ohhhhh I just really, really, strongly dislike my SIL

Polite title but what I really want to say - aggggggghhhhhhhhhh, the woman is a wanker!

She deigned to grace us with her presence at the weekend at a family wedding, where she proceeded to totlly blank me until I was standing right next to her and said, pointedly 'hello X' and she said hello back then just turned away. That was the only thing she sadi all day. I've never, ever really spoken to her as she seems to have a problem with the entire family and has to get drunk to cope even though she's witty, inteligent etc. I don't know what it is with her. Everyone in family thinks it's personal to them but I'm the only one she totally ignores. I could have kicked her, very hard for being so bloody pathetic and just.... ugggghhhhh. Rather than it not bother me, as in the past, I just want to have it out with her, can't and won't but keep having imaginery 'talks' with her.
Anyway, just needed to vent it here as nowhee else I can do it really.

what's her problem? she must be insecure, no one acts like that unless they are. what a silly cow.

I know exactly hoe you feel, my brother is getting wed next year - I dont like her! She has opinions about everything, especially how to bring kids up and how my parents need to baby sit for her dd more! Not looking forward to wedding as it will be a drunken frenzy!

I've given her chance after chance. If she's insecure she should just get over it. There was no thanks for the present I sent her DD, no congratuklations on our pregnancy. She came out of the loo while I was in the queue chatting to someone and just blanked me. She was nice to Lottie which is the only reason I managed not to follow her to the loo and flush her head down it!
It must be the hormones but I really wanted to fight her!!!!

Do you know what, re jealously, I really hate to say this, cos I'm nothing special, but I think she might be, which is awful. She's no oil painting tbh but she's much more intelligent and witty than I am so for god's sake. I hate that she blanks me, it's just so pointless.

He thinks have it out with her. He doesn't like her much and thinks she's 'weird'. But have it out how and tbh - why, we see her maybe once a year if that, she never comnes to London, D's brother and the kids come but not her, I was surprised she came to the wedding, I guess she couldn't keep saying 'no' to everything.

Will do over lunch or some such gathering, not bothered about outing her, but there are W and two grown up kids to protect.

TC - i have the same with my SIL so know EXACTLY where you are coming from.... i also have it with MIL/FIL so cant win!!!!

Blank her out as well and assume she doesn't exist. If you ignore her she can't hurt you. I once met a woman who blanked me and really got me annoyed until I decided that not having her attention was actually a privilege

My SIL and I don't get on either. I don't really know why as the first time I met her, I liked her well enough. I think it has something to do with the fact that she doesn't get on with her brother (dh) and so anyone who likes him is a no-no to her.

May also be something to do with the fact that she has a very strong personality and so do I and she can't bear that. She blanks me at social gatherings (which only occur once every few years) which is very embarrassing.

What does Mr Thomcat think about it?

I fully intend to blank her back girls, but can't help but feel annoyed at the pointlessness (!) of it all. And there's an element of 'how dare you blank me bitch'! to it too. But that's it now, she can whistle! I was imagining what to do when it comes to Xmas and their present! I was thinking of doing a joint present but totally with my BIL in moind as opposed to actually joint, or buying her a meat tray or something as she's a veggie!

Or try if you can to see what is causing this obnoxiousness, and then just let it go? You mention a suspected drink problem and family issues?
TC, does her nastiness predate Lottie? I think we all know that unfortunately some people have very upsetting reactions to people with learning disabilities
